I have been telling people to use https://metadata.nostr.com/ to recover lost follow lists, but when I tried to use it I learned it isn't very good for that, so I wrote https://follows.nostr.com/, which focuses on just that one thing and hopefully does it well enough.

Why isn't https://metadata.nostr.com very good for follow lists?
It is not good for recovering lost follows because it only offers a way to restore a previous follow list, not to grab people back from that.
Interesting. It never occurred to me that you wouldnt just restore the latest version that was on record and rebuild from there.
Is it because you didn't realise it was lost until you added some more people?
Maybe we need a relay that trawls all other relays for everyone's follow list and stores all versions.
They could then charge sats for recovery.
I would call it refollow.nostr.com

It takes a bit of time and a little look to figure things out in order to comprehend the greater picture. Even if can’t make a proper decision at the beginning, in the end there could be better results when least expected.
This only deals with contacts, not tags.

I like the concept, but the connection makes no sense to me. I only have a private key and an npub. Is the npub not able to retrieve the follow list? I'm somewhat of a Nostr noob
