I want to see how effective "purple pilling" really is. I think it's not, but prove me wrong.

I heard it explained, to put it loosely, on the wbd podcast. I had to figure out absolutely everything myself from there, from creating an nsec to discovering clients. I don't think that's what you're talking about. I wasn't looking for a social media replacement nor did I stumble up on nostr by happenstance. I just happened to be at a point in my life where I realized traditional social media was toxic AF and I had already begun that off boarding process for myself.
I also heard about nostr here and there and figured out the rest by myself. I don't consider that "purple pilling"
Nope. I stumbled on it on my own.
Twitter purple pilled me more than year ago. It was a shitshow of blocking timelines and my ancap frens dragged me here. But out of many I'm almost the only one sincerely active. Most still prefer fighting and discussions next to this echo chamber.
Two different people.
I no longer wish to promote the one who pitched it, but the one who onboarded me was nostr:npub1jrx2fk666k5nt8vgak9xwyxlgcwh8fl9rvpwvvcpdthuqkcnptrqdfhtaq and it was a long and difficult process from my perspective.
Me since Fiatjaf told to a public (or twitter?) about Branle a couple years ago or so, conceded it'd be a biased approach aside the normie one you prolly are asking for in so which case I wouldn't be hesitant bet there will be cases of people stumbling for themselves into nostr

I was purple-pilled over several months in late 2023 and early 2024 at a series of #bitcoin meetup in SF. Interest piqued when nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m added his npub to Twitter. Checked out nostr:npub18m76awca3y37hkvuneavuw6pjj4525fw90necxmadrvjg0sdy6qsngq955 , deleted the bird app, and never looked back.

None of my purple pilling efforts (of others) have been successful thus far.
Ive come over multiple times from twitter because of bitcoiners shilling it there. In contrast to twitter there are no bots here but just like twitter there is very little interaction if you're not a big account (or a nostr dev on nostr).
I was curious after nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m noted about it in Feb 2023 and have been a daily user ever since.
Been into ₿ for a while, and heard about it but thought it was an app. I tried it because of IG bans on my account. Been here since the white papers 15th birthday
I think it was either nostr:npub1guh5grefa7vkay4ps6udxg8lrqxg2kgr3qh9n4gduxut64nfxq0q9y6hjy and/or nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx that I heard it from.
Then I just started reading the nip repo and used the sites/apps from nostr.com. I had been looking at other social alternatives quite skeptically at the time, and still took me a bit to decide I wanted to build my signer tool and start using nostr.
I think without intrinsic motivation this is (still) the wrong place

Haven’t used Twitter since March of ‘23, and I’ve used nostr every day since Christmas of ‘22.

I onboarded myself more or less as I figured out the intricacies all on my own.
Of the people I know he promoted it to (including himself) and of those who created keys here, I'm almost entirely the only active user.

If you’re willing to zap a few sats I think a very small minority of existing followers can be brought over to Nostr.
A lot of people follow me on other platforms for real estate content and mainly ignore my Bitcoin/Orange pilling but they still have fomo about it.
So I offered first 20 people to follow and DM me on Nostr I’d zap them. (Maybe 1000 people saw my stories) I think about 30 people did it, I think 3 stuck around and only one actively posts.

Met tons of Nostriches at the beach party event in Miami 2023, deleted Twitter a month later. The experience here and people working on this are truly incredible. I don’t want to be on social media with people that don’t understand this value prop. In my opinion, “purple pilling” requires the right type of personality for this platform on the pitch receiving end.
