Sailing
I do follow a few sailors on here, but posts about sailing do seem few!
nostr:npub1d020nktlkel7q09xq4d5zy53w5jx0lgynhtxkg7ggf5kryajet2sxw4uh2 posts a lot of sailing!
Yes!
Iβm ready for the sailing nostr group when we get a telegram like client.
Please let me know when that happens!

Sewing and yarny things
π€ it does seem like there used to be more yarny posts. But itβs died down or something and sewing is really rare.
I've only ever seen your sewing posts and I think the few yarny tick-tockers (tik-tockers sp?) Went back home βΉοΈ.
For another sewist, check out nostr:npub1luvpvkhauqy994y6fcf3djvpc7hszexpsyxqhs87g8fkrhtu5lcqylnmt5
Thanks for recommending me!!
Please check out the stuff Iβve been working on! Sewing is one of my hobbies and Iβve tried to post a lot of stuff Iβve been working on regularly.
Followed π«π I'm a strictly amateur sewist, pj pants and shorts for the kiddo, but I love seeing what people can do with a needle and thread. Machine or hand π.
I hadnβt even heard the word βsewistβ until tonight. I was talking to my buddy yesterday and was saying how thereβs gotta be a name for a guy that sews. Iβm not a tailor, Iβm not a seamstress, Iβm a _____. He was like ββ¦. seamster?β π
I feel like seamstress is a label for professionals, I'm not on that level lol. I used to see people saying sewer (sew-er) but yikes π©π©, I started using sewist probably not the first but much better π and gender neutral.
Clearly youβre a seamstr π
Recently Iβve been making roll-up holders for pens/pencils/watches which I post with those tags
#penroll #pencilroll #watchroll
I've seen these! I tried to make something similar one time...it went in to the scrap bin.
I'll try to post more sewing things! I'm getting ready to make some shorts for taro
Cooking. I'm never done seeing recipes π
Maybe I will sound like a prick but I would like to see people fails on Nostr. The fails on YouTube are so vainilla nowadays with censorship π₯±
Mowing with a scythe. It's like Nostr for grass.
I think Iβve seen literally one note ever about this π
Funny, I was just talking about mowing with scythes the other day. My husband and I were talking about safety of kids on a farm around field equipment, and I mentioned the difference between scythes and modern drivable farm equipment.
Trained kids can even use scythes alongside their parents and neighbors, but only the driver (and whatever limited number of passengers are possible) can be safely in the field when combines, etc. are running.
It was probably me. π
Scythesupply.com is what you want. Do it. It's awesome.
Wow. Thanks. It's amazing that I happened upon this information on the day my weedwacker died. That looks like just the tool for cutting down cow parsnip without getting burned by its sap.
I think I will if I ever grow grains. Itβs something I just might do.
Do you grow any grains? What kinds, and what do you do with them?
Nope, no grains. Just plain old grass and weeds. Literally just mowing grass. It's much faster for anything tall. The grass can be raked up easily because it naturally falls into rows. Then you can use it as mulch.
This guy talks about it: https://www.yewtu.be/watch?v=VVn1kiZnldQ
I've done this before in Slovakia! It was quite an experience for me. I learned there are competitions actually. The person teaching me competed.
The key thing I learned was not to lift the scythe to high when you return it for the next swing.

Can you elaborate?
yea like how we can organise a modern economy with millions of people around the values of democratic participation, equity, solidarity and sustainability, developed as a coherent alternative to central planning

I always say, men in their forties have simple and yet refined taste.
And we are apparently more or less the same π
Time really does ehittle away at the BS.
For me, a couch potato, all those sounds intriguing, but I would prefer not to ever need any of that... If you know what I mean.
I will, even if I am lazier than I wish to be.
As I'm saying it is intriguing, it is fun to aquire the theoretical knowledge, enjoy it as a hobby, but I would prefer not to depend on it with my life. It is like I prefer the idea of gun ownership to actual gun ownership.
Actual gun ownership is terrifyingly awesome. You have to be responsible, and I think that responsibility tends to make one a better person.
Self-reliance is a moving goal. I love learning new skills. It is a hobby of mine, I've decided. I am able to be more flexible because I have a much wider skill base to draw from, and that makes much if what I do and am less fragile .

You only see one note a month about this? I have some great people to follow for more!
Iβll probably forget if I try to list them all, because about half the people I follow are homesteaders and most of those are into permaculture π

i'm interested in social annotations using Nostr... is anyone talking about that?
Iβm not sure, since Iβm not even sure what that means π
Same lol, but sounds interesting though
ha. it's something i've been thinking about a lot. could be the 'killer feature' that takes nostr to the next level imho. i'm even thinking about making a NIP, or just building a proof of concept myself. happy to chat about it sometime π«‘
Ok so it appears they're called 'highlights' on Nostr... Is that something you know about/hear many people talking about? Basically, this: https://highlighter.com/
Oh, Iβve heard of that but havenβt looked into it yet and have no idea what it does. Maybe Iβll change that today.
practice of self awareness, emotions and feelings, education
I'd like to see more tech stuff on here. Not that I'm big in that space, but that just seems like a natural fit for nostr and a way for it to grow
