Incentivizing engagement is a terrible idea that's guaranteed to lead to an onslaught of horrible content. Because the content is created to work the incentive system, not to produce something useful. It's how you get a platform that specializes in serving the lowest denominator.
Yes being paid for engagement is such a trap.
Engagement might mean value for advertising but it does not equate to value for users.
I think I left Twitter in 2023. Anyway, It's a good step. But if you have cultivated a good following you might not want to leave it you have a business.

John C. Dvorak of No Agenda has a pretty good take on his X engagement. He only posts show related material and keeps on moving to other platforms to do the same.
He also keeps his cellphone in a drawer and never uses it.
He says it's dumb to dump X if you've cultivated a large following as it's a lot of work to get that.
I've communicated with you on Twitter so I know you are more active and I understand why you are frustrated.
I do think you help more people there but like a lot of platforms X may have run it's course.
Use the force and pray to the Almighty some times to get insight from the Supreme intelligence service known as God.

Listen to No Agenda for media deconstruction. John C. Dvorak wrote for PC Magazine for many years. His articles were the most popular. He could sell the highest advertisement sections. The products posted next to good articles always made great sales.
If you are using Twitter \ X to reach an audience for your podcast, magazine, movie or a commercial venture then it makes sense to continue.
John recently commented that people who had millions of followers and they get butt hurt by the elections and the leave X just to go to Blue Sky or some other walled garden are throwing away something that takes years to cultivate.
Personally I've seen a movie and met one of the producers through Twitter in the past and it was really nice. She even called me to discuss something because she liked my idea. Those are things that made Twitter nice.
Now with NOSTR many are starting over with more intimate conversations but for some Twitter/x is still part of their business model.
No Agenda has been Podcasting for almost 18 years. John dors a lot of marketing to keep the show going. He's no dummy. It's also value for value so No Agenda encourages me listeners to get the premium content up front and then become a producer by donating. You won't get me listeners by farting around on NOSTR at least not the volume of listeners that No Agenda has.
