Idea: "encrypted" public note with associated sat amount. when you zap, the decryption key is encrypted to the pubkey who bought it. Clients then decrypt the post to view.

What if instead of one zap to decrypt the post needs multiple ones? Kinda like tipping In chaturbate 😂🌚 that way more people would interact and less likely (IMO) to screenshot it. Fixed amounts instead of flexible. Idk, I’m brain storming while drinking coffee

There could still be a threshold where no one sees it until an amount is zapped. I love this idea. It could be useful for videos and podcasts too. Once a certain amount is reached, a link is able to be viewed.

Slight variation: when post gets a certain amount of zaps, decryption key is broadcasted to everyone. This would probably be more of a nip26 service though posting on your behalf.
What about whitelisting npub that zaps and when you click “paid” it is decrypted?

I can think of 2 mutually exclusive reasons this might not be true:
1) it would be for trivial amounts so it would obviously just be fun and very much in the open source spirit.
2) it wouldn’t be trivial, but you’d see the interaction stats with people you’d have to assume had already decrypted it so there is a bit of a quality signal there, albeit shrouded in intrigue.
All valid arguments, but for me it still feels like a paywall.
It’s a great Idea for news services, but I’m not sure if this is really a good use case for nostr.

Not to go all "slippery slope" but we already have paid relays and those have their benefits and (ideally) contribute to people who deserve compensation for their efforts.

The Idea to me sounds like a paywall or a lootbox. You have to pay first to see what you get.

Since most wallets don't know how to handle oreimages well, I would go for a DM to the zapper that contains the decryption key for the content.

Y'alls uses the key of the HTLC to decrypt the file, so that makes it trustless from the probider PoV.
