Bitaxe Boy >

don't want to doxx my life to order one in the mail. probably don't have the skill to build one

if not for that I'd be stacking axes along side my corn. seed signer very easy to build. nerd miners are also very easy to build. was reading bit axe build guide over the summer, and it def seemed a bit over my head.

Order one to a friend's house?

eh I probably could, but wouldn't want to put them in that situation either.

where do you order yours from?

I'm placing an order this week.

https://www.solosatoshi.com/

thanks fam 🫂🙏🏻

what pool do you use? solo or ocean? or another?

Solo mine brah!

You're looking for the block on your own!

That's the point win big & fuck the pools.

Supporting open source mining development as well.

If enough of us solo mine blocks will be found 💪💗😎

There is a chance! Small, but a chance!

Bro 2024 is the power of the AXE???!!!!!

In France we have bitcoin bazar which is a physical store. It’s great

How big is the shop?

Not that big, but you can ask them to order for you

Very nice guy

I assumed small micro shop, that's awesome 😎

Yes quite microshop. Bitcoiner set it up. I think they are on here btw I will look back on x I think he shows his nostr public key on it

👏💪🤝💗😎

Are you running a Bitaxe??

Not yet, this week

3 weeks ago I went wanted one as silent as possible he ordered some with nantua vents and i am picking 3 (one for me and 2 for friends) this week

Paying cash via mail

Actually??

Got 5 allready 😅

What was the increase on your electric bill you reckon?

Me running antminer S21pros.

You solo mine with those bad boys?

No. In fact I manage BTC mining operation. 🌊⚡️⏳⛏️

Exactly & awesome 😎.

Why not add a solo miner or two for the decentralization effect & supporting Open Source mining development?

Living on a BTC standard I’m using the decentralized network with all aspects of my life 🫡🧡🗽

Bitaxe.org

It's 180$, supporting Open Source mining development for a miner like yourself should be chump change 💗.

Money to buy one

Meme harder Harry!

Zap my memes harder 🤣

Soon Harry, very soon 😁

If you boost I'm also happy 😁

I'm not all about sats

Are you trying to deny this isn't you?

It's my twin 😂

Nah, I've got a Bitaxe Supra and I just stacked some sats on Friday.

Just wanted to join the conversation 😅

Brah so you have one! 😎🤝💗

Fuggin Harry bro..🤣

A used S9 is better performance per fiat and can be used for a wider variety of purposes.

Bitaxes are cool, but I'm not likely to ever buy one.

I understand your sentiment, but:

Bitaxe has an asymmetric lottery ticket bet.

The idea is to be able to solo mine, which you wouldn't do with an S9 unless you got the monies to blow on electric.

If enough of us solo mine we will find blocks & that is decentralization at it's finest.

Most importantly, you would be aiding in the development of Open Source mining hardware, instead of living in defeat to Chinese centralized hardware manufacturing.

I think all this together proves its worth, thanks for your honesty!

Yup. I get all that, but... I'm subsidizing my heating bill in the winter and eventually my hot water.

What's your electric cost?

How much did you save in the winter considering btc price of 100k?

About $.12/kWh

No savings, but a reduction. I live in an RV, so it isn't insulated very well.

Savings = reduction.

What do you estimate that to be?

Was it worth the noise?

I spent more doing that than using propane. 🤷‍♂️

Barely any noise with quiet fans. Running it at 750-900W

Yeah man that's my point!

It's not providing you an economic benefit & you have no 3.25btc upside!

I'm doing it to learn and earn some non-kyc sats.

Commendable & awesome 😎 💗

i'm being conservative and aiming to pay my hosting fees by routing lightning payments but i suspect that i will be able to make nokyc sats running a lightning routing node too, i'm just staying conservative and not aiming too high to start, i'm new to this but i am almost certain that you can make back your routing costs on lighting node running

What's your expected Sat accrual over the next 12-24months?

just to be above zero is fine thanks

Nokyc sats don't matter if you can't buy anything!

Routing is still commendable but to actually accrue a good stack you have to go to greater lengths.

By greater I also mean easier.

BTC ATM.

Robosats.

P2P w cash.

i have a fairly deep understanding of the protocol and if i have routeable inbound this means i can share a key and people can initiate payments to me without my interaction, and their payments are anonymous

so, i'm interested if only for the sake of getting a better practical understanding of how to do fully anonymous lightning poyments

doing it without a lot of capital is not practical, and i can think of no better thing to apply my surplus capital to right now, but learning how to do this thing right, so i can also share this knowledge and help more people establish their lightning citadels

that's the thing... if you understood the protocol right, you would understand that it's litreally better than monero+tor

that's why i was building a tor-like network transport built on the principles of lightning in 2023

I agree with your sentiment!

Hopefully one day you'll also be playing the Bitcoin lottery by helping to decentralize hashpower & promote open source mining!

It does to me. Almost all my stack is kyc-ed to death. Having some without KYC I'd a win.

I think you read my reply incorrectly, I was saying you're doing something good because you'll earn enough to at least spend eventually if you needed it.

Any chance you can answer the OP as well? 😁🫣

Btw Bitaxe takes 15watts 💗

I need motte heat than that. 🤣🤣🤣

Ofc I'm just saying it's a nominal addition to play the lottery :)

economically irrational

Supporting Open Source mining development meanwhile playing the Bitcoin lottery is irrational?

If enough of us do it blocks will be found.

the lottery part is irrational. yes, blocks would be found, but the expected value of playing the game is negative

Not in decentralization terms, and not in developing Open Source mining hardware/software through grassroots crowd sourced volunteers.

Satoshi even predicted as such.

But yes your economic benefit is expected to be negative, like all lottery games - except this one isn't rigged.

Don’t see it like that

You make the effort to help the most important thing of our time to save 200$ by skipping some dinners out and 3$ a month in electricity bills by being careful with your lights and then you have free lottery on top of that with some actual chances to win ( 1 in 12k in a year)

We should all do it

For most it’s easier to just buy Bitcoin.

And for me personally I went with Braiins Mini miners. 1-1.4 TH/s for 40-60 W.

This has nothing to do with stacking though so that doesn't make sense really.

Bitaxe ~1.2TH @ 15watts it says.

Also braiins mini miners are not pushing Open Source forward I don't think?

Bitaxe.org

Support OS development so we can break the Chinese manufctr cartel & pool cartels all at once!

#procrastination

Already have a couple S9 space heaters… but, thinking about a Bitaxe too

You're not solo mining with those!

& Not supporting Open Source!

You're fucking awesome though! Keep up the good work!

I’ll concede the first two points, but playing around to learn a bit and teach my kids about mining… and we used the heat this winter to supplement the rocket mass heater!

I am interested in getting a Bitaxe though, and printing out a cool 3d stand for it. :)

BitAxe so the next generation doesn't have to cuck to China 💗💪😎

did someone say ROCKET MASS HEATER !!??!!! 🥳🤩🙂

Want pictures and lovely stories about it ☺️

On the road until Saturday night as a trucker, but will look for a pic or two on my phone. I built it about two years ago and is our primary heat source in winter.

We do have a propane wall heater that we supplement with a bit when really cold for long periods of time… and I got 2 Antminer S9’s and configured them as space heaters this winter… but, even buying hardwood sawmill trimmings from a local Amish sawmill, the RMH costs about $8-10/ year to run all winter! 😍🥰

Thanks, very much appreciated!

Yeah the cost of running it is so low, I intend to build one and would be able to run it on olive prunings.

#homesteading #rocketmassheater

#permies #rocketmassheater Maybe not the neatest pics, but one shows the brick bell and wood feed. The other shows a rack I threw together to hold maybe 7-10 days worth of wood if burning 1-2x daily, and the brick bench.

If/when I redo it, will rebuild it as an 8” system instead of 6”, and make the bench a little longer but a fair amount wider, to capture and hold more heat. So efficient though! 😍 My wife even says it is really easy to light and after not being too sure about it in the beginning, now she just loves it!

Cool! Looks nice and tiny, I like the design. I have a tiny house but I would also choose 8" I hear Paul Wheaton repeating how much better it runs, and, am hoping for the added mass to help cool in summer. But we'll see, still sokewhat further in the future...

#permies #rocketmassheater #homesteading #offgrid

Paul’s 8” system in the Fischer Price house IS very nice! I spent two weeks at Wheaton Labs in 2019… both 6” and 8” work well. J-tubes are more efficient and (I think) easier to light than batch boxes.

Below 4-5” systems are MUCH finickier… too much laminar flow/resistance along the edges of the path of gas flow. 10” or larger gets TOO hot…

cool! 😮 I wish to visit Wheaton labs someday, it is a bit harder coming from the EU. Else I would hve been an ant for many years...

Yeah, I was initially thinking about a 4" system but I dont need that extea finiky whatsha-ma-call-it. 8" is proven and just works, so I will go with that. My next steo in this is to build an outside J-tube #RMH but need to get the riser materials first...

So many wonderfull projects, quite addictive, and each steps makes me pollute less and increases my happyness.

#permies #rocketmassheater #homestead

nothing really, except maybe the power consumption, but I hear that is pretty low.

Confused on who the best venders are and then the different models and options are making my head spin.

Very cool product just struggling to justify the cost when I can just buy.

This seems to be the place to go, add the stand and power supply bc it's free.

https://www.solosatoshi.com/product/bitaxe-gamma/

Yep! Quality stuff and a well run shop over there.

Other acquisitions that I have to make first to keep my significant other happy… but it is on the list

Make her happy faster 😊💕💗😎🤝👏💪

Only so many hours in the day 🤣

Oh now I see your problem.

https://youtu.be/Nf7PafUBZmU?

🤣🤣🤣

I thought about just ordering one and asking for forgiveness, but maybe when I get my stolen money pittance from the govt this year, I’ll just do it

If we don't hear from you we know what happened 💗🫣😂

If I don’t make it, know that it was probably a slow and painful death 🤣

Mathematical competence.

False, asymmetry is there & are you not a supporter of Open Source?

I actually have one. With a seedsigner. To broadcast singed messages too.

I have no illusion of winning a block

Defeatist mindset, but do you man.

I think supporting Open Source mining hardware meanwhile hashing in the open ocean is awesome & you never know how luck breaks in life.

You can play the only verifiably non-rigged lottery in the world meanwhile supporting Open Source development.

Don't be complacent, do something.

nostr:nevent1qqsdzxzupwuwhcd2t90zt0gm6t8sqfpxaytqwn8569y68wcu0s5me5spz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduhsyg8zyc984uem8w3sqaq3r3zk0y7w7kxj4dput9jmmwm9t7g0juue4spsgqqqqqqsms73fz

Electricity prices in the UK.

That will still cost billions to run here lol.

England is a virus get out of there 🥲

Still in the process of getting an EU Passport, got Irish family. On my to do list!

good luck!!

May I suggest a Nerdminer?

You can also more easily build it yourself.

Tarifs 🤣

just kidding

So you're ordering one? 🤝

Nothing

Ser, you have to plug it in 🥲💗🤝🗽

Its plug now, but not in my home.

Lack of money, increasing energy cost, and nobody saying what is the the average mining income.

Lack of monies is a good reason.

15watts so not much NRG use.

It's a binary game we're playing with solo mining.

We either find the block & take the entire reward or we get nothing.

3.25 BTC is the current block reward.

You don't leave in Romania

I was wondering why I meet so few Romanians, you guys can't leave, ffs.

I can leave it, but it's a thing maybe you will not understand... Let me explain...

Currently we don't have president, he resigned, ...we are ...fucked

…and we contribute decentralization..

Nothing

Giving me Bitaxe fomo 😭

The balance of my bank account 😅

But i will definitely at some point. Have the greatest support someone can imagine: my wife and #nostr 💪💜

nostr:note1euq4wad9ma5h2afud3wm9yxz5683atwfqkmxn8kwdrv6r2j6d3hqkl5vr2

One day you will get it done!

Amazing wife love it!

Not enough heat generated to be useful

It's an asymmetric bet to win 3.25BTC & more importantly to support Open Source mining development & decentralization.

I love that. I run my miner using DATUM all for open source.

I actually might buy a bitaxe, but the only reason I’d do it is because I’m going to buy a hydro kit so I can learn about hydro cooling before scaling that up.

There should be 10x the number of bitaxe like projects, I love the open source hardware aspect with Kicad files. Bitmain is the problem here and until nostr:nprofile1qqsd0hut8c2pveuk4zkcws9sdap8465am9dh9cp8d2530yssuflcracpzemhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuurjd9kkzmpwdejhgqgkwaehxw309aex2mrp0yhxummnw3ezucnpdejqnl58qr releases a chip we will be stuck wasting effort reverse engineering their chips when we could be doing better things.

I didn't even think of that tinkering aspect with liquid or immersion cooling.

Cheers brotha!

Bitaxe gang 💗

run two

My retarded highly uninformed take is that buying sats is a better financial investment for me personally. I guess distribution of hash benefits the network and further secures my sats even if just marginally. Idk. I always pretend I’m gonna run a node and buy a miner and then I never do.

Running a pruned node is just too easy, idk why you wouldn't do it.

Maybe 5 total clicks.

The Bitaxe is an assymetric bet meanwhile supporting Open Source mining development & decentralization - no brainer if you got the funds!

I’m being a bad pleb ok!

In all seriousness I’ve been here for far too many years to not contribute in some capacity.

LFG!

My node running adventures have led me down some really interesting rabbit holes. Interesting for me anyway, since I don't have any computer/programming/linux background at all. I've learned a lot on the journey. Running a Bitaxe (or 3 😆) is fun and supporting open source development while enjoying another hobby is enough incentive for me to justify the expense to myself, lol.

But as nostr:npub1ugnq57hn8va6xqr5zywy2eunem6c624583vkt0dmv40ep7tnnxkqrr898l said, setting a node up is super easy now. My DIY Start9 just works without me having to think about it. Not like one I had going on bare metal a few years back that i kept on tinkering with.

Common sense 😂

Supporting Open Source & home mining

= Common sense.

Give me a break.

The person who liked your comment btw is notorious for not giving a shit about Open Source btw.

I’d rather just stack sats. The bitaxe isn’t contributing much

That is your right & I won't hate on you for stacking instead, but your statement is wholly untrue.

So untrue, that it hurts 🤕.

CAPEX price/Th is like pissing in the wind.

Doing the Lord's work fighting the good fight here!

time + effort vs other things

I ran a lightning node before. Was interesting but I do not have the mental space to keep up with it. I imagine the same would happen with a miner.

Oh dude mining with a Bitaxe is the complete opposite of running an LN node.

Set it up and let it rip.

Passive AF 😁🫂💗😎🤝.

Nothing! got onecas soon as i discovered they exist. Great project.

I am off grid with little solar, so i run my nerdminer 24/7 and bitace from sunup to sundown, will improve that setting.

Learning not only about #bitcoin and #mining but also about power usage, solar and batteries.

Big win!

I almost accidentally unplugged it the other day moving my power bar, the barrel connector was half out. My uptime 👀

Waiting on a HeatBit…
