Got some epigenetic test results back (telomere length & DNA methylation) that put my epigenetic age at 13 years older than my chronological age.

I skimmed his stuff but for now I'm trying a few other things. His blueprint seems like more effort than I'm interested in expending right now.

I've been testing a variety of at-home (mail-in) testing services that can be done anonymously. Gonna do a write-up on the journey next year.

Bryan Johnson is a Fiat phenomenon if I’ve ever seen one.

Measuring everything about your health and becoming as obsessed about all these markers as he is, is the antithesis of a healthy human life.

I for one think it's overcompensating for the fact he's extremely afraid of death. Though he says he's not. Anyone dedicating *that* much time trying to extend their lives but not actually living - is wild. Borderline narcissism.

Meanwhile, my 94-year-old grandmother smoked for 50 years, drank gin, and has two scoops of sugar in her cereal and ice cream for dinner. She's still going. She can also touch her toes. None of it makes sense. 😂

There is something about having a relaxed, non-neurotic lifestyle that seems to extend people’s life- and health-spans.

yes. Moderate cardio exercise elongates telomeres. Epi-genome is more complicate to quantify.

Interesting. What would you say are some reasonable examples of “moderate” cardio?

I assume this implies that cardio above a certain intensity threshold doesn’t do the trick.

I think it was 30-60 min somewhere below the anaerobic threshold. Running or cycling while being able to somewhat comfortably talk would be an example.

I think intense cardio was less effective in this regard. But it is also difficult to find participants who are willing to be randomized by a coin flip to either train intensively every day or don‘t train at all for an extended period of time.

Which company did you use? I use Viome…my current biological age is 3 years less than my chronological age…my goal is increase that gap to 10 years 😅

I've used several. Viome put my bio age at 5 older than chronological.
