I've been an iOS guy all my life. Yesterday was my 28th birthday and I switched over to Android via a Pixel 9 Pro. Will be trying out Obtanium and nostr:npub10r8xl2njyepcw2zwv3a6dyufj4e4ajx86hz6v4ehu4gnpupxxp7stjt2p8 for nostr tinkering. Any suggestions that would help? #asknostr

Run the Grand Slam of excellence: Amber, Citrine, Amethyst, and Pokey.
I think we will need links for those... A first time I'm hearing about Citrine and Pokey
Whaaaaat? I'll make it easy. You can get every single one from nostr:nprofile1qqs83nn04fezvsu89p8xg7axjwye2u67errat3dx2um725fs7qnrqlgzqtdq0 🥹
Remove apple stickers from car and anything else they are plastered on.... Whoops I don't think people do that anymore.
GrapheneOS?
OEM bootloader seems to be locked might look into buying an older pixel and doing so myself sometime soon
You can enable unlocking in the developer menu. That being said I run a stock 8 pro for normie things and use my old 6a to run graphene 🤙

Have fun learning how it works!
I enabled developer mode but the OEM bootloader unlock seems to be greyed out.. going to probably get an older pixel like the 6 or 7 at some point and try Graphene once I get the hang of Android. Unless you know a way of getting the bootloader to not be greyed out?
Graphene has a pretty simple install tool with directions on how to switch to developer mode.
I'm a big fan of Amethyst, Amber, and Citrine. All three have served me well
Step 1 - Install nostr:nprofile1qqs83nn04fezvsu89p8xg7axjwye2u67errat3dx2um725fs7qnrqlgzqtdq0 from their GitHub release page.
Step 2 - Install Amber from Zapstore and import your nsec to Amber from wherever you currently have it stored.
Step 3 - Log into Zapstore with Amber and set up Nostr Wallet Connect if you have a compatible wallet, so you can zap the devs.
Step 4 - Install Amethyst from Zapstore and log into it with Amber.
Step 5 - Install Pokey from Zapstore and log into it with Amber.
Step 6 - Install Citrine relay from Zapstore and add it as a local relay in Amethyst's settings. You can also download all your existing notes to it to back them up if you want.
Congratulations! You now have a powerhouse of a setup for most of your Nostr needs. Explore Zapstore to find more goodies from there. It has more than just Nostr apps, and you can even install Obtainium from Zapstore, too. Though... There are very few apps I have in Obtainium that I couldn't just get from Zapstore instead.

“one click install”

YES! App bundles and the ability to install them with one tap is something I think nostr:nprofile1qyv8wumn8ghj7enfd36x2u3wdehhxarj9emkjmn99uqzqun2rcnpe3j8ge6ws2z789gm8wcnn056wu734n6fmjrgmwrp58q390rp63 has been talking about adding.
Step 1 already excludes 99.99% of population.
Absolutely agree! GitHub scares people. And they get scared even more when Android tells them it is dangerous to install apps from unknown sources.
Not sure what the solution is here, though. Can't imagine the PlayStore would be ok with adding an alternative app store into their listing.
I think the middle ground now is to have an APK installed from a trusted website.
We cannot completely solve the trust problem, but at least we should not send people to the "github release page" which adds up more confusion.
There is no website that Android considers "trusted." It will always warn that you are installing from an unknown source the first time you try to install an app you downloaded through your web-browser.
Sure. I meant trusted by the user. Is the best we can get.
Sure, but if they are new to Nostr, they don't trust any Nostr related website yet, either.
Well, this should work on people that are at least sold to the idea of trying this thing.
If they are not positively inclined, then they are not intended audience, now.
In the adoption chart, we're looking for early adopters, not early majority.
You can download from Zapstore.dev
Excellent. I really want to make this process much more user friendly
Phase 2:
Get a de-googled phone with all of these pre installed once possible/available 🤘
Nostr phone FTW!
Todos los pasos hechos 🫡
GrapheneOS, if not already.
welcome. android stock is slightly better than the iOS crap.
get comfy with your new android phone and take this guys advice
hope you got a pixel
