Been asking how to be a doer for just over 2yrs only to get mainly meme like replies or ignored most the time.

Yall building have to encourage and teach doing.

The whole "if you don't get it I don't have time to explain" attitude here is insane.

Agreed! Learning is key! Thankfully a few here pointed me in a direction that's helped a bit and I was able to get some basic functionality building a myspace 1.0 like nostr client so far...πŸ˜…

I know html and css...Javascript scrambles my brain and I'm having a hard time with it though. 😭

Bothers me when it's used a cop out (which is most of the time). If you are making an offer, you better be prepared to explain that offer over and over and over again. That's sales baby. The goal is to reduce that but don't make an offer if you aren't going to explain why someone should take it when asked.

There is a difference when those have been standing on their soapbox for months if not years about something and no one would listen so it's time to build.

I half-agree.

Lots of devs don't talk, but they also aren't doing much, and what they do isn't very useful. I haven't seen a direct correlation. If anything, some of the chattier devs are producing more (and better) code, not less.

The idea that the best developers are all Silent Bob is a myth, and AI-assisted coding is making it even mythier.

keyword "developers" developer is FAR more than writing code or building electronics. It's a skilled position (trade job imo). Because you can replaces or repair pipes doesn't make you a plumber. It's knowing your material, showing up on time in clean clothes, having invested in a stocked van, it's knowing how to quote jobs etc.

The word developer is over applied. I don't consider myself a developer. I think we need new terms lol

I think about these things a lot, building a Nostr Private Messaging client (Telegram alternative), there’s many β€œcommon” user complaints about clients, particularly non-interoperability or β€œbroken”, unfollowed protocol specs that nostr:npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku rightly wrote about, and I have bookmarked his posts for that reason.

We need to set the bar. It won’t be easy, open protocols are difficult to coordinate, but we can do better. 🀟πŸ”₯
