Maybe someone should build P2P bitcoin exchange on nostr. I think it's a perfect place for that.

That's actually a great idea!

๐Ÿ’ฏ๐Ÿค™๐Ÿพ

This would be a game changer

They just need a viable escrow system first. There was some discussions about that at nostrica.

Please make it asap

I deserve it ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ’ฏ

Oh yeah, that will come eventually. Great idea.

Not sure I want it tbh.

The metadata about who trades with who, when would be entirely public, even if trade details are encrypted. Could be interesting as purely an order book where you have ephemeral keys for each trade and never re-use!

I think I convinced myself I do want it while writing this ๐Ÿ˜…

Hey #[3]โ€‹ howโ€™s atomic swaps coming for btc/xmr?

Still coming along, have heard they're very close to being feature complete and ready for mainnet.

Code here: https://github.com/farcaster-project

Neat neat. Alsooo, I was thinking about media. And AI and deepfakes, seems like we should be uploading the hashes of media content we post to nostr no? Since itโ€™s hosted externally and subject to change on that end depending on the host, could clients auto check the hash included in the note versus the media file and warn if it doesnโ€™t match or changes in the future?

But idk maybe hosts arbitrarily change resolution or other stuff.. this is kind of reminding me of earlier talk of building a code hosting repository on nostr

I believe that eventually there will be a Bitcoin exchange on Nostr, but it should be exactly as you suggested: encrypted and without metadata.

Is anyone working on the metadata issue?

I think it can be done on upper layer Damus's private Zaps & text with that is encrypted

"Nothing is more powerful than an idea whose time has come." -Victor Hugo

There were talks about this at Nostrica... I'd say it's eventually coming !?? Would be v cool

yep

Agreed. The current options for no KYC bitcoin are difficult to trust, but as an open social network nostr creates possibilities for a reliable reputation system.

Even if the trade is discussed partially in the open it's not hard to conceal the important parts (amounts and addresses involved)

Exactly we can do it on upper layer, and make it encrypted and no metadata

If people can figure out how to do in such a way that facilitates some sort of no KYC dollar cost averaging then that would be truly game changer. The desire to do DCA is still a huge incentive to use exchanges at the moment.

Although at some point it's likely someone would be in violation of KYC/AML laws.

@negrunch built a bot on telegram and has an operative beta version on Nostr

Let me check

Now we're talking. Build in a conversion to Volcano Bonds and that could be a magical hedge for CBDC and normie mass adoption.

It's just in El Salvador right?

But can be traded in traditional markets I believe. Unless the US eventually sanctions it as well...which is highly likely. Still it may create a unique work around. I posed these questions to several smarter celebrity folks in the community and am getting silence. Maybe for obvious reasons (hence the reason Im anon)....and/or folks are not be honest with themselves about the EO6102 type events that are for sure coming.

How do we get #[4]

#[5]

#[6]

#[7]

#[8]

#[9]

#[10]

#[11]

And others onboard? I would bank roll part of it. No one seems to be actually seeing the domestic threats that are coming....or are unwilling to talk about it publicly...which obviously why I'm anon. Still ,it feels irresponsible to not be solving for inevitable EO6102 events. Add CBDC and you're not going to be able to fly under the radar in a parallel BTC economy. Judicial optionality is the answer but most cant move to S. America. Im not saying stop evangelizing and pushing toward intransigent minority critical mass...but the reality is we're not outpacing the ChokePoint onslaught that is coming. Pounding the PV drum and idealistic parallel BTC economy doesnt achieve the larger goal in these war time scenarios. See the problem fam? If I'm missing it, tell me. Otherwise, everyone so far has just affirmed this thesis and then goes back to meme-ing and crying about the man breaking the law.

I'm down to structure bitcoin bonds.

Im down to lead the fund and help raise and rally tech around it.

https://github.com/nobu-maeda/n3xb I believe there is another one that is up and running but I couldnโ€™t find it rn

Interesting

Pubkey-based reputational trading. Irrefutable and worth maintaining with superb customer service from each buyer and seller.

Your post is making waves.

#[0] Would use.

Could serve useful for onboarding new comers, one server for all Bitcoin related needs on Nostr

We really need this, most of the user already have their own web of trust. We also need some kind of trustless escrow system.

It could take notes from Robosats on Escrow, or better yet a bot built into the DMโ€™s that can carry out stacking sats

It is entirely possible and we don't have to reinvent the wheel. But the only problem with DM is metadata. For that I think we can do something what damus is doing with their private Zaps.

I think there have been some proposals for making metadata a little bit less of a data leak. Like sending a message to a whole group of pubkeys but only one has the private key that can decrypt, so a passive observer can't tell who the real recipient was.

If you're a client and want more anonymity you could even send DMs to random pubkeys as a bluff, although that could be considered spam

I should say privacy and not anonymity

These proposals are not bad but I think for messages we really need something very secure. That's going to be very essential for future activist and journalist here. It doesn't has to be on a protocol level we can build something secure on upper layer.
