Okay Nostr... I need advice.

I wake up daily with neck pain. I flop like a fish, but mostly am a side sleeper.

I need to remember that I'm over 40 & am getting old 🤣 The shitty, flat pillows that I use are only good for young people apparently.

Please, give me recommendations on a cervical pillow!!

You need to strengthen your neck. Resistance exercises if you haven’t tried yet. If no time then do at home.

I'd just point out building strength is harmful if there's not flexibility and good posture first. Had too many people surprised pushing weights in gym doesn't solve back problems.

I doubt that this is only because of your pillow. Most nack pain comes from wrong day to day sitting and a lack of stretching and movement.

Highly recommend the McKenzie Cervical pillow. Best pillow ever I never go anywhere without it. Solved my back and neck pain and now my whole fam uses it too

Thank you. I'm going to start my research

Definitely checking them out 💜

I love mine. I have a ruptured disc in my neck and it helps me be pain free for the most part. They don't push pressure back onto you like other pillows.

Might not be the pillows. Could be the mattress.

Have you tried a maternity pillow? The one that you sleep on your side and II supports your back and goes between your legs (please no comments).

These types of pilowe are the best for the posture of your spine.

I do sleep with a pillow between my legs (drives nostr:npub18ams6ewn5aj2n3wt2qawzglx9mr4nzksxhvrdc4gzrecw7n5tvjqctp424 crazy 🤣🤣🤣)

wouldn't know about the pillows, but do you do any sort of stretching or yoga?

😂🤣 that would require physical activity.

who's side are you on here? 🤣🤣

at this rate, your neck's gonna hurt from sleeping in the couch 😁

on*

if you don't do some daily physical activity, you're gonna have more than just neck pain as you get older. speaking from experience.

finna neckmaxx

I tell my lovely with this often and invite her on my walks and runs every time I go. She has come along only a few times.

try something new and fun together

than by chance involves some physical activity 💜

then it's more about the time spent and memories created together, and the exercise is just a byproduct

😁

Keep it simple. This one does wonders for “computer stress” and such.

You may want to take some Magnesium supplement first. it will help relax the body.

Natural Down is your friend and chiropractors

I don't have a recommendation for head pillows since I just tried a bunch out at IKEA and went with whatever felt nice.

what I have found to help lots is to fold up a small blanket/towel and use it to support my waist when I sleep on my side.

I'd always start with questions like this with a question myself, one many do not want to hear.

What is your diet like?

The diet of most is extremely inflammatory. If that is the case then anything else you do is putting a bandaid on a deep cut. And most people that think they have a "healthy diet" are eating the most inflammatory food on the planet.

"see honey, strangers on the internet agree with me."

thanks! this should go over very well.

Auronic Heat pad 🫂💜 i will send D the 📸 it works💥 😴

As always, take what resonates and ignore the rest. 😁

For me: various pillows to get in a certain position but I've had broken bones (including coccyx) over the years so I can't be sure.

Cooling pillows make me happy on my head but one of my friends enjoys a heating pad on her shoulders to fall asleep too. It's made with rice & heated in microwave & she wraps it around her & falls asleep that way.

Meditation 🧘🏻‍♀️ has done far more for my physical & mental healing than anything I've tried. Mean it 🥰

I saw "survivor" in your profile. For my own healing: ❤️‍🩹 educating myself on where pain is (theoretically) stored in the body & working to release that has been beneficial. Focusing on a spot and imagining a loving light coming to extract it & transmuting it to goodness.

I just train my trapezius muscle.

No weight/light weight, many many repetitions until it I get the muscle burn.

All pain goes away in 1/2 days.

Wow you got a lot of responses! First of all, I never buy into "I'm getting old"! That's poopoo talk 😂 Secondly, I second the diet response for potential inflammation. Third, find a principled chiropractor who gets to the root of the problem and doesn't just throw pillows and supplements at a problem. You've only got one spine! Take care of it and it will take care of you.

I'm older than you and can only recommend buckweat pillows. Was a phenomenal improvement for me. Been using it for 10+ years.

get a grounding pad to put your feet on when you sleep and you will wake up with little or no pain throughout your body most mornings.

1) Have you invested in a quality mattress?

2) Do you actively make sure you don't have the posture of a shrimp while sitting at a desk? (I struggle with this one here)

They give you the best pillows in hospice, the best painkillers come from a palliative regimen and the best sleep comes from the grim reaper.

Stop killing yourself with your food.

I'm a side sleeper as well. If I don't use my knee pillow, I wake with aches and pains. As long as I use the knee pillow, I have the best sleep every time.

I got mine at some big retail store, forgot which, but it looks exactly like this: https://a.co/d/gEBFfil

I’m also a side sleeper and I highly recommend this pillow. We’ve had them for over 2 years and they are still great. https://www.tuftandneedle.com/products/foam-pillow

I recommend this youtuber -- "Feldenkrais with Taro Iwamoto" for amazing help with neck pain!

My favorite pillow is a buckwheat hull pillow for adjustable support.

I also second the comments about evaluating your mattress and inflammatory foods.
