Been watching this unfold. Seems to be really cool tech. I didn’t get the TestFlight but I’m not in well populated area so not sure I’d be able to use it anyway. What are your thoughts on the requirement for having to enable phone Location Services on Android for Bitchat to even function past the first intro screen? (not just app Location permission)
Personally see this as a privacy tradeoff.
android and apple include bluetooth low energy in the location permission request
its pretty fucked up, should be separate, but apps that want to use ble have no choice but to play ball
bitchat is open source and users can verify that it doesnt use location data

I realize location permission is a Android requirement for Bluetooth.
In the earlier version of Bitchat it was enough to just grant the app location permission, it worked.
Now in the latest version of Bitchat, it is not enough to just enalble location permission for the app, the global phone Location Services is needed too.
I am OK with giviing Bitchat app location permission but keeping Location Services enabled is a step too far.
I know it works on Android to give a Bluetooth-connecting app location permission only (with phone Location Services off) as I have a solar system app from a large company that functions perfectly this way.
