After a certain high level of technical skill is achieved, science and art tend to coalesce in esthetics, plasticity, and form. The greatest scientists are always artists as well - Albert Einstein

seeing CBDC launched in many countries gives an eerie and realistic perspective on how we are already living in dystopian times.

Iceland has it tough - 900 earthquakes in the past 24 hours. One of the worst disaster in modern history is the Laki eruption killing about a quarter of Icelandic population in 1784, causing haze across Europe leading to widespread famine due to contamination of soil and lack of sun. It was also detected in the US. It took about 3 years to recover. There's probably a good reason why Iceland is called the 'land of ice and fire' - it has some of the largest glaciers and most active volcanoes.

Nostr is still very conceptual - devs are building on it, so its ok not to fully comprehend it - i don't think its possible to have a binary definition on Nostr yet. But having devs explain this to the masses of different target audience is pretty powerful - and diff devs have diff strength and ways of explaining - Pablo's conceptual, Verbiricha has a nice story telling flow, Hodlbod is like your fav professor, Jeff gives you the dotted line hints - and often times audience are empowered to not just use but to explore and tell their friends and neighbours. Now while I did not spell it out, everything i listed is a form of marketing, not the loud speaker version, just the more targeted, cost efficient, exciting ones. These are some of the few ways Nostr can get rooted and spread further. And while I am not a dev, I have reached out to devs and tried to help in any way I know how. I would encourage you to do the same. All of us have hell to deal with everyday and dealing with more downers is no fun. Def stay here. And build.

i know...i am pretty sure all of us have had our turn in that circle of death too lol. "You're muted, you're muted, Everybody is muted" (Oprah style).

Do we have a Karnage meme on muting people yet =D

i tried that with nostr:npub1r0rs5q2gk0e3dk3nlc7gnu378ec6cnlenqp8a3cjhyzu6f8k5sgs4sq9ac's list as well but wasn't sure who was being muted and felt kinda bad.

Nostr has established its proof of concept. Rampant user adoption is diff league - to get there, gotta have the guts to expand the circle - or one can just complain and whine and find excuses about everything - I am not interested in being part of the latter, too much negativity

would be nice to see Nostr on Ted talks as an enhancement of democracy in establishing real public square, talks in universities encouraging young entrepreneurs to built on it, testing community or small industry-based use cases and observing how Nostr helps people of these communities

I was reading about the Romani women last night and esp on them undergoing forced sterilisation - and realised many parts of the world including my own country, implement(ed) this towards certain groups of people to prevent them from multiplying as part of the eugenic policies. This is a “gov’t family planning” of sorts or in reality a form of ethnic cleansing without war - and is deeply disturbing.

In my country this is implemented towards the indigenous groups similar to Canada and the aborigines groups. In the US, this happened at prisons and still happens at detention centres.

The irony is, we often hear arguments about whether or not women should have the right towards contraception and abortion, and the right of life, all while involuntary sterilizations have been rampant. The stark contrast between debates on individual reproductive rights and the systemic violation of these rights through forced sterilization is a significant reminder of the political hype vs reality and distractions within societies.

The historical and ongoing forced sterilizations inflicted upon marginalized groups are deeply troubling. I feel so disturbed about this.

There’s this forgotten story of the gypsies that were killed in the holocaust, some numbers indicate up to 2 million people who died.

The gypsies fled Northern India in the 6th century during one of the many religious war times and migrated across Europe and Middle East. This was years before India was called India by the British - it was many different territories ruled by various emperors and rulers.

But all throughout time, the Gypsies (also known as the Romas) faced continuous challenges such as enslavement, hunted and killed as part of rich man's games, the millions who died in the holocaust because Hitler considered the Romanis as inferior race, and even after WW2, there was forced sterilization as part of a broader set of eugenic policies by Sweden, some Eastern European countries. The Romas in Britain are considered outcast till today. About 80% gypsies have died over the years and only ~200,000 gypsies left in the world.

The issue of impoverished societies and the challenges they face, particularly in transitioning from self-sustainability to modern environments, is a complex one. Flashback to history, when people were self-sustaining with their farms and stocks, and the bearable price of goods. Now, in pseudo-suburban settings, self-reliance is hindered, with further piles on to increasing societal discrimination.

This is a global problem which increased rapidly towards the shift of industrialization in the past century which led to the inability to self sustain leading to higher crime rates.

Circular economies and community-based entrepreneurship could offer valuable paths toward addressing these challenges. I think this fosters self-sufficiency and empowerment - something that will help them be independent and grow - and would be a better long term solution.

Problem is, instead of solving the root of the issues, the struggles of society often become a ping pong match between political parties where one cries bloody murder and one offers sympathy and forces society to pick sides. Why solve society problems when it can continually be used as a political weapon by governments. Happens everywhere in the world

If you compare 2 people, one who has never failed at anything and another who has failed, but has the drive to pick up and start over, only better this time - the latter is going to learn so much more than the former. Failing is ok, so as long as you keep moving forward.

perhaps. i don't know who said this but feels apt : The future belongs to the curious. The ones who are not afraid to try it, explore it, poke at it, question it and turn it inside out.

working on 2 projects - one with kids and one with adults - both hinges on their capacity in building, problem solving. Both are given tools and access to information, but for some reason kids are more enthusiastic on figuring things out, and faster too. Which makes me wonder, do most people lose the enthusiasm of curiosity as we grow older? Do standard education system mold kids into thinking less and obeying more? How ok are we for kids to question religion, history, science, politics and everything else that we may believe strongly in? How does tech play a role in expanding or reducing the effort in search of knowledge - Pre google, there were libraries, post google, there is AI. Both of my projects are not related to each other but there lies so many problems with one compared to the other, only because there is so little effort and initiatives in finding good solutions.

in my opinion, i think Nostr has heavier concentration on development and lesser on user acquisition efforts in mind. The latter doesn't have to high expense or ads purchase related - at early stages its all about on segmenting users and narrow focus on reaching out to them. I think there are many missed opportunities on Nostr - lots of content (that is not bitcoin related) but its not a match to users who would have found it interesting. Also not always maximising content outputs.

love the "what makes today a productive day" concept! I will try this, thank you! I can't do timers either but I do subconsciously try to set a time limit and hope outpace myself lol. I do take short breaks every hour or when I finish a task to flush out and re-calibrate. I don't know if I can work while hungers. Been trying to cut back from 4 cups to 2 cups of coffee - that has been a tough one !

You will either step forward into growth, or step back into safety - Abraham Maslow

Juggling between multiple jobs and very much a serial tasker - I'm a bit of a productivity nerd always hoping to find better ways for time efficiencies. I’d love to know how you go about maximising your days.

Some things I’ve incorporated - starting the day at wee hours uninterrupted, a daily to do list and artificial datelines for that push. I’m also learning to take time off for myself and not feeling guilty about it. If you have some tips and tricks, shoot ‘em my way!
