About a decade ago I got into mixing my own pipe tobacco. Like anything in bulk it was cheaper but the real draw for me was creating my own blends. I wouldn't say that I was making a superior product. Eventually I quit smoking.

If you went with CLN than you are going to want to back up your HSM secret. That would be the equivalent of your bip39 words.
I haven't run an LND node in ~3 years so I can't really comment on that. I think the highlighs would be CLN is more performant, has bolt 12 and dual-funded channels.
Since you are still setting your node up I would recommend CLN over LND. An important choice to make now since there is no migration between the two.
