yeah … interesting thought. the “influencers” / public figures here do tend to repost the same people. Maybe because the nostr feed is like a newsletter.
Codonopsis, derived from the Greek κώδων (kodon) "bell" and ὄψις (opsis) "eye, to see".

Today I started a year-long membership at a new gym.
When I got there, the guy did the usual set up stuff, then at the end, asked if I wanted to download the app. People had been coming in and scanning their phones. I’ve gone to two other gyms previously, and both used a keychain card with a barcode scan. I asked, “what’s the point of the app? (Besides scanning at the door for ID, thinking maybe it tracks fitness goals or something - not that I need such exact data)” He said, “sometimes people don’t bring their keys. They just bring their phone.” I’m like, …they don’t bring their keys? “How do they get back in the house then?” Him: “*shrug* Maybe they don’t need it, maybe they always have someone at home.”
I decided to use the keychain with a barcode. He was also asking for my email in conjunction with getting the app, which I thought was weird.
I think I’m going to like this gym. It has a crisp feeling to it. *It has central AC* It’s spacious. Everything is painted black. It’s half the price of my previous gym.
you can report users on Nostr? To where?
found this -
“The Streisand effect is an example of psychological reactance, wherein once people are aware that some information is being kept from them, they are significantly more motivated to acquire and spread it.” (and heightened by the internet and social media haha)
“The phenomenon is well-known in Chinese culture, expressed by the idiom "wishing to cover, more conspicuous" (欲蓋彌彰, pinyin: Yù gài mí zhāng).”
“Reactance (psychology) – Unpleasant emotion experienced when behavioral freedom is threatened.”
(Wikipedia)
oh wow that is a very useful term to know. Thanks!
I don’t think it’s just the algorithm effect. It’s also that when everyone who is trying to start a profitable small business goes onto social media, it starts to change the environment.
I really wanna finish this page today since it’s a new month / end of the month. Last thing is the kitchen scene for the TV show.

I’m taking August off from doing an art challenge, but if you’d like to participate in one, here are some ideas ….
Smaugust - dragon art
Dogust - dog art
If you want a prompt list, Doodlewash has a new one every month: https://doodlewash.com/august-2025-art-challenge/
And Kick in the Creatives has an animal prompt list for August: https://kickinthecreatives.com/31-animals-august/
As always, this is just a suggestion - make any art you want: once a day or only once.
If you’ve made more art by the end of the month by participating in an art challenge than you would have, you win! 🫂💜

ooh dogust sounds like a good idea.
it seemed to me like the response was, ‘bitcoin has gone up so much that even if there’s a dip down to 90%, it’s still okay’.
why? is it the eye drops?!
early morning potty w/ #dogstr
first pic w/ new harness. This design is called ‘amongst the wildflowers’ sooo t’will often be accurate.
wildflowers here are - evening primrose and morning glory

Cont’d notes ~ Conclusion pt. 1
“Bitcoin is the Most Important Human Rights Technology of the 21st Century”
Alex Gladstein (Human Rights Foundation)
< Bitcoin can go where traditional money can’t >
The invention of Bitcoin can be thought of as a parallel to encrypted messaging. In 2010, few human rights activists used encrypted messaging. The tools didn’t exist in the form they do today. 10 years later, in 2020, everybody’s using encrypted messaging. The same thing will happen with Bitcoin from 2020 to 2030. By 2030, it will be the standard currency of human rights activism.
This is something that we (in America) are insulated from. A lot of us (13%) come from glowing places, but money is a broken system for most people (87%).
Examples of Bitcoin use cases
一 Russia (frozen bank accounts)
一 Ukraine (war refugees bring Bitcoin on an USB)
一 Nigeria (frozen FinTech fundraising apps)
一 Belarus (people used to sew cash into their clothes to go over the border)
一 Venezuela
一 Hong Kong
一 Iran (Mahsa Amini protesters)
一 Afghanistan (Bitcoin is used to fund underground education for girls, which the Taliban has made illegal, beyond Year 6, primary school.) “Education is a key driver of financial stability for families. Lack of access to education perpetuates generational poverty.” (devpolicy.org)
一 North Korea (70% of people who escape are women. They are often pulled into trafficking schemes, and need to be individually rescued. It's very hard to use USD to do this work.)
一 Nicaragua
一 Palestine
Conclusion pt. 2
< *Bitcoin* is freedom money, ‘crypto’ is not >
“Crypto” in the form of “Stablecoins” can be useful (esp. If you live in Lebanon or Nigeria where you need U.S. dollars). However, stablecoins can still be censored, “rugged” and go to zero, and they can be sanctioned. In fact, stablecoins are growing the role of the State. The systems and rules of stablecoin tokens are controlled by a handful of people. They cannot actually give people free speech and property rights. They do not provide real individual sovereignty. “Crypto” is not a helpful term, because there are so many cryptocurrencies now. Be specific in the type you want to talk about.

hmm the color of the one on top looks a little muddy
finished #amphibia title. Tried to not be too careful about it. Forgot the most important detail, the mushroom!! Will add in later.

yep. I was basically reading one fiction book after another. This was the only nonfiction book I read all year. Oh and also one about Emmy Noether called Einstein’s Tutor. but otherwise, fiction all the way📚📚📚
I got into it again cuz I was reading how it’s both calming *and* energizing. And it really does… even on hot heat wave days.
welp, I’ve decided to get into drinking matcha again. The bag has expired and is a dark mung bean green rather than the bright green it should be… but according to my research / looking it up, this is fine as long as there is no mold.
I also don’t know where that bamboo whisk went to, but really the most crucial tool is the little mesh sifter to sift the powder so it doesn’t clump. 🍵 #teastr

what? How have you not seen it but hear it perfectly? 🤔a clip?
I don’t get why it sounds like so many people would respond so negatively. When I heard it described as something that can replace banks and a type of code that solves the digital money problem (like not being copied and pasted, a unique record), I felt very enthusiastic about it. Just felt that I couldn’t invest cuz I had no experience with that type of thing and also had *several* student loans.
NEW: nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m urges the expansion of open-source AI to avoid repeating the mistakes of social media, where just five CEOs control what people are allowed to express.

I think Vitalik wrote about this recently. Saying how it’s interesting that China is doing the open-source AI’s. 🤔
I’ve been holding back on taking photos and *especially* videos for at least a month or two now. (Probably longer actually 🫠 I’ve been procrastinating with this similar to how I procrastinate about the yearly blood test).
There’s been *a lot* of randomly having to go through text photo attachments and deleting large files … which triggers annoyance, nostalgia, and grieving.
It’ll feel really good to take photos freely again. Though I think I’ll try to be more aware of what I send in texts … and what videos I take. It’s so hard not to take long videos of things like: dogs playing at the park, the dog sleeping, the wind blowing through flowers, snow falling at night while passerbys walk by. 😣
High proportion of money/investment related posts on Nostr is making me think more about this topic. This is why social media needs to be used like a patchwork quilt. I can’t be on just Nostr only. >.<
A question that’s been in my mind: “how many women are active investors or earn passive income?”
Found out that -
📝 71% of women invest in the stock market. Slightly higher for Gen Z (77%) and Millennials (74%) (Fidelity 2024)
📝 Women outperform men in long-term investing outcomes. (also Fidelity)
📝 Passive income access varies more by race, income, and education than gender.
Last bullet point makes me sad. It should not only be White, high-income, and highly-educated people who are also having the access to passive income. It’s paradoxical. They are the opposite of people who need it the most.
#investment
#passiveincome
#finance
I think twitter can get too overstimulating too quickly.
the general population has two main groups. One group that has never done anything relating to investing and one group that has.
this is a nice thing to say. Gotta also honestly acknowledge that for a Bitcoin space that repeats “stay humble and stack sats”, there are plenty of toxic masculinity behaviors on here.
you mean like going to medical school?
also, being a janitor can be not bad if you have a simple life and few responsibilities. I’m thinking of the movie “Perfect Days” about a janitor in Japan.
do you know that for a fact? Cuz yeah … that’s the first question that pops into mind…
I don’t think it’s brilliant lolz. No digital watch, book: Broken Money by Lyn Alden, no red meat, and just no to every other object and word too. 😝
interestingggg what is the source of this data tho?
I think she’s pointing out the efficiency in how it runs, not necessarily in how it’s used 😓 cuz, emotions
