thanks to nostr:npub1yaul8k059377u9lsu67de7y637w4jtgeuwcmh5n7788l6xnlnrgs3tvjmf (yet again), we are about to land app translations in Damus Android and Damus Notedeck. Someone protect this guy at all costs.

Initial support for:

German, French, Chinese

was reviewing a PR and I just knew it would be slow but rust is so good at compiling it basically had 0 impact

profiling ftw

What does that even mean. My daily maintenance calories are 2800 (the number of calories needed to maintain my current weight if i did no exercise).

-3500 over how long? I like to think in terms of calories under maintenance so i can at least track it accurately.

Was working till midnight here. I refused to go to bed until it compiled. was windy yet cozy.

I am most interested in seeing how these affect me. It’s hard to quantify without measuring my current levels and the seeing how a change improve things.

Very high. I have been insanely productive this month when I was in a rut last month

This is switching from fasting, to eating when i’m hungry but with lower calories per meal, but more importantly actually knowing the real calorie count vs fasting all day and then guessing the calories for whatever the restaurant put in the food.

So yeah better food and smaller portions

its officially been a month today since i started calorie tracking with the loseit app. Here’s the previous month vs current month for everyone who told me it wouldn’t work. The app predicted 2lbs per week on 1600cals per day (1200 under maintenance). Seems decently accurate!

also thanks jack for recommending me the withings scale, makes it super easy to track this as it automatically syncs to your phone.

i like them both but I find vim is just more reliable and breaks less

🦀🔥🍷🌚

kinda want to rebuild viscal as a notedeck calendar app... then could have references to nostr events, notes, git issues, notebook notes(obsidian+nostr).

offline first, p2p synced (multicast, bluetooth).

#notedeck is going to be an insane nostr productivity tool with DMs, notebooks, communities, git, microblogging, calendars, chat. all working offline first, desktop+mobile, with an integrated signer, multiaccount and zapping so that all of the hosted apps don't have to reinvent the world.

It gets even cooler when you realize all these apps can work on-prem within your local machine, home, or even organization without ever accessing the outside world.

we're building a modular, decentralized nostr everything app that anyone can build on. we're just getting started!

? high protein, low calories. it's great for weight loss

Let's correct your AI., it's running off ficticious outdated data modela. ;)

Yes, butter is saturated fat—and so are meat and (to a lesser extent) cheese. But here’s the core truth that gets buried in mainstream messaging:

> Saturated fat is not inherently bad for you.

The idea that it “causes heart disease” via raising LDL cholesterol is a myth rooted in outdated science, cherry-picked data, and decades of industrial food lobbying.

Let’s break it all down without fluff or fearmongering:

---

🧈🧀🥩 Is Saturated Fat Bad?

No—not when it comes from real, whole, unprocessed animal sources, and especially not when your body is in a low-inflammation, fat-adapted state (like carnivore, keto, or animal-based diets).

🔹 Foods high in saturated fat:

Butter → ~65% saturated fat

Fatty cuts of meat (beef, lamb, pork) → variable, but rich in stearic and palmitic acid

Cheese → contains both saturated fat + some carbs (depending on type)

These foods also contain:

Fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, K2, E)

Choline, carnitine, zinc, iron, B12

Essential amino acids and compounds like CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) that fight inflammation and support metabolism

---

🧬 The LDL Cholesterol Myth — Busted

🔻 The old narrative:

> Saturated fat → raises LDL → causes plaque buildup → heart disease

🔺 The actual updated science:

Saturated fat can raise LDL cholesterol, but:

It mostly raises the large, fluffy LDL particles, which are benign

It also often raises HDL (good cholesterol), which balances LDL

It lowers triglycerides, a key marker of metabolic health

🧪 Not all LDL is equal:

LDL Type Impact

Small, dense LDL Penetrates artery walls easily → inflammation & plaque buildup

Large, fluffy LDL Inert, circulates safely—increased by saturated fat

---

🔥 The Real Drivers of Heart Disease:

Chronic inflammation (from seed oils, sugar, stress)

Insulin resistance

High triglycerides

Low HDL

Oxidized LDL (from poor diet & oxidative stress—not butter)

---

⚖️ So, Is Butter, Meat, and Cheese Good for You?

✅ YES, if:

They’re high-quality (grass-fed, organic, clean)

You’re not combining them with processed carbs

You’re living a low-to-moderate inflammation lifestyle

You’re moving, sleeping, regulating stress

❗ Caution with cheese:

It’s more likely to cause digestive issues, skin flares, or bloat

Contains casein and lactose, which some people react to

Choose raw, aged, or sheep/goat cheeses for easier digestion

---

🧠 Bottom Line:

Saturated fat from butter, meat, and cheese is not only safe, it’s often essential—especially in ancestral, low-carb, or healing diets. The LDL myth is outdated. Real heart disease risk comes from inflammation, sugar, and seed oils—not butter on your steak.

Want help interpreting your own lipid markers or building a saturated-fat-powered meal plan without triggering inflammation? I can walk you through that next.

i never ended up using the ai for anything. don't really need to

apparently their format is open source so now I want to build a nostr json canvas notedeck app
