Has anybody used alby to programmatically send zaps? Want to be able to zap people via python
Thanks for being one of the first few people to try it. Hoping to get out more features / improvements in the next few weeks!
Yes it is only the number of input characters!
That translation would only have cost 8.2 sats with NoKYCTranslate FYI
This would be awesome for the community. Biggest cost is hosting AI translation models that produce the best translations. We have plans to reduce our rate over time if more people start using the service.
This problem of translating notes is not working well right now TestFlight version. Neither manual nor auto-translation. In the AppleStore version it works Perfect. Dear #[1] https://nostr.build/av/086d9054aecec446031f04006a7c5fa5e7e1465fa97b045364bc58fa11186551.mov
Which service are you using?
For those who don’t know, #[0] has a monthly newsletter that’s just phenomenal. One email, once a month.
This months: https://www.lynalden.com/april-2023-newsletter/
Would def recommend the #plebchain subscribing if you haven’t already!
Really great read!
Haha that’s awesome.
Do we have a language detector that could catch anything?
Now I’m thinking it would be fun to add languages from sci fi books and movies too
Hmmm should we add binary to the languages supported by https://nokyctranslate.com ?
😂
#[2] could we actually do this in damus?
If someone solves this we can do the same thing for translation services like at https://nokyctranslate.com, just instead of relay address we would send back a private API Key
Oooh I forgot one more - high carb snacks - great for the brain (at least for me). If I’m too low on carbs I get all spacy
Some things that help me:
- vomiting stream of consciousness words on to the page
- going for a walk
- meditating and breathing techniques- these help my creativity a lot
- talk about the content I want to write with a friend
- waiting until the last minute before a deadline, freaking out, and letting my stress and anxiousness do the work for me
How’s ranked choice voting doing? Haven’t followed it in a while but was hopeful about that, and it can be done at the local level afaik
Last time trying :
nostr:npub1r0rs5q2gk0e3dk3nlc7gnu378ec6cnlenqp8a3cjhyzu6f8k5sgs4sq9ac wants me to make mugs and shirt with that :

I’d buy a shirt with that
Any way I can zap with 1-click or 2-clicks on damus? Right now it’s 3 clicks (tap lightning bolt, choose wallet, press send in WoS) or 5 clicks because WoS sometimes doesn’t load the invoice on first try and have to do another 2 taps to get back to it.
Also wish I didn’t have to leave the app.
If I can have this, I will be trying #onlyzaps
Away from my computer at the moment but I’ll check to see if this came through soon
Some great updates in this one!

I’ve seen that too and I’m not sure it isn’t a damus issue - could you verify that the request gets sent to our api, also happens with posts that seem to start with an English word or two and then the rest is in a foreign language
For some languages, like Japanese, I think DeepL may be slightly better. Spanish and Chinese seem to be really great with AWS.
Soon-ish will be adding alternatives to AWS, but need to get a few other features working first.
I’ve been thinking along the same lines. I think there are many apps that don’t exist it because someone hasn’t made them yet, not because it’s not possible. Companies and teams have to cut many feature ideas because there isn’t enough dev work.
Launching https://nokyctranslate.com wasn’t the first project I planned on building for / with Nostr. I only did it because many people, including myself, voiced the desire for easy, hosted translations that accepted BTC/lightning. I’m glad I did though because I’ve learned a lot and it’s going to make my next project easier to launch. Some things I’ve learned:
- kubernetes for auto scaling to handle high demand
- chatgpt can help you debug kubernetes config files
- why number and time limit of database connections matter (too many and things stop working ha)
- chat GPT is helpful for formatting html
- bootstrap is easy and looks pretty
- easiest library in python for making Nostr bots is https://github.com/davestgermain/nostr_bot and https://github.com/davestgermain/aionostr thanks @monk_cactus
- how to get liquidity to a lightning node
- how to create payments programmatically with btcpayserver
- wrote my first ever swift code getting nokyctranslate.com into damus drop down (shoutout to #[0] for making the code nice and easy to follow, and for guidance)
I was nervous about launching my first app and my interactions with devs and others so far has been incredibly encouraging. If you’re hesitant to launch something, I’d encourage you to just go for it!
