"Apple allows people" is really kind of the crux of the issue, isn't it?
At least for now they aren't stopping side loading. I get Amethyst from gethub anyway.
I mean...I still don't know what plays nice together that I'm missing out on? Does Apple wipe your butt for you or something?
I get that's why folks do it, it's the main argument I hear. I also suspect most of them have never tried anything else, or if they did they gave up immediately because it was different.
Figure out how to drop a non-proprietary OS on an Apple device and I'll use it. I'd have zero issue running apple hardware running my choice of Linux if I was paying obscene amounts to bankroll a company I don't want to support.
Hell, it isn't THAT much harder to use non-apple products, is it? I don't know how some of these 70 year old folks on Androids and windows based laptops even manage to function by the logic I see from so many Apple folks. π
Someone give me one example of something an apple product can do for me that I need. One example of how a feature in the apple ecosystem can add value to my life.
Make it make sense.
I can't grasp why the long term goal wouldn't be to exit apple devices. I'm not saying Google is better, but shouldn't the long term goal be to decentralize and move away from big tech control? When a corporation is openly hostile to individual choice and decentralized technology, why are people so bent on continuing to buy their products when there are alternatives?
I'm not even going to attempt to address this circular logic word salad. There is literally nothing I need MacOS to do. I didn't say I want apple to tax, you did. Nobody is getting thrown away, I'm not even sure what you're ranting about. You can't point out one guy involved in a large project who stepped away, and say it can't be trusted, then advocate for the massive corporation that has proven they can't be trusted and want to restrict your choices.
I can not even begin to unpack the shitcoin mindset here, and I don't have any interest in debating it further with you, as you can't even maintain one logical stance in this discussion.
You can definitely log into a web client like Snort and it will function just fine, though sometimes things get a bit slow. I just switch to Iris or Primal when Snort gets buggy. I believe apple has the nostore extension, that let's you sign in with pasting your keys on webclients. I've heard good things.
And that's a good question I hope they don't go after Fountain, but I can't see why zaps would be paying for digital content (they aren't) and streaming sats on Fountain wouldn't be (they are). Only time will tell.
But if they nuke Fountain from Apple, you can always use Podverse via browser. It's much harder to stop web apps, and all Apple is doing is shooting itself in the foot.
How would you define the term fiat?
Not specifically in relation to money, but as a concept. I see many utilize the term more broadly, so this is a thought experiment.
Something something Apple hates freedom
Instead of reacting to what it βsounds like Iβm sayingβ why not react to what I am saying.
Where did I say throw it away?
You just said you hope apple taxes people on their bitcoin transactions, pick a lane.
There is nothing wrong with using what you have, but it sounds like you're here trying to tell me why MacOS is better, but you have nothing to show why except that it's what you use. I can run any distro of Linux I want on superior hardware for less money than any comparable apple product.
If you care to scroll way π and read the original note you replied to, I specifically said that I'm a realist and don't think anybody should throw away devices over a stupid Apple decision. But if you give Apple your money, you just hate money.
