#mulberry #propagation #grownostr mulberry is growing really fast. I’ve already got multiple trees on their second year that have fruit on them. Mulberry might be one of the top plants that I grow. It’s super easy to propagate.
It’s also fun to prune the trees a certain way I will typically keep one main shoot and then prune down the rest . But it also gives you good practice so that you can see what the tree does when you prune it a certain way.
I try to clean the trees. I don’t always do that. Hopefully, I’m not spreading disease across all the trees. The balance is how many mulberries do I need and how many cuttings do I need or should I just let the tree grow? 
Yeah, i didn’t want to dig a hole, add concrete, i think a tpost with 2x4 zip tied or something will work.

I need to get some 6 foot steel post all attached two by fours or an 8 foot board to it and then attach the shade cloth to those posts . I need the shade cloth above the garden area by about a foot.

I’ve had raw chunks in a pot for months and it is good to go. I would assume the ground up stuff might disintegrate quicker.
I wish I had that much wood around :). I’m always scrounging the neighborhood for sticks.

We probably got 3-4 inches overnight. One of the bigger rains in 3 years.
Nothing like the overnight thunderstorms! Why can’t they just be during the day :).
So you want no airflow coming in from the bottom, you want the wood to cook without oxygen, flames only at the top layer.
Usually perennial plants, mulberry, blackberry, yeah those might be a good idea. I tried a pillowcase last summer, disintegrated pretty fast in the water.

Agreed, probably just elevate a little and have a large airpot to air prune roots. I wish they had a smaller size :)
