Very well said.
I think this is one of the big indicators that point to whether someone is here for ideological reasons or speculative reasons.
I get what you are saying, and there's truth to it, but I also see a lot of personal attacks against some pretty vile individuals who deserve to be fought. I just don't see the point in disparaging, for example, Ellison's appearance versus the fact that she is a scammer and a thief with zero integrity, who destroyed countless lives by being a key part of the FTX grift.
So..
nostr:npub1sn0wdenkukak0d9dfczzeacvhkrgz92ak56egt7vdgzn8pv2wfqqhrjdv9 wants bitcoin to be private by default for everyone, without jumping through hoops.
What’s the solution?
It can't be, not without substantial tradeoffs. 🤷
Build better privacy layers on top is the only option that makes sense to me.
Why are people so quick to mock an enemy based on appearance or other, adjacent trait that is beyond their control?
If that's your go-to attack vector, you might want to reassess. Attack their values, their integrity, their actions, their intent, or their judgment instead.
Attacking things beyond their control is attacking what it means to be human. No one wants to be 80 years old. Or to be unattractive, or have a physical characteristic that draws attention or is insufficient in some way.
What purpose is served by pointing these things out that are beyond someone's ability to change?

I think one of the best things about being an adult is the power to choose who you associate with. I have not been shy about cutting people out of my life and have done so on multiple occasions.
It's good to stop and reflect though, you never know when you might be a contributing factor. My only rule of thumb is that once I cut ties there's no looking back, so I tend to wait until I'm overwhelmingly sure.
I'm pretty sure guillotines have to be involved.
This is a pretty large gray area to range around in.
From my perspective:
Node
Sparrow
Noncustodial hotwallet
CashApp or Robosats
A hardware wallet
That's what I personally would consider the bare minimum. Some might consider a hotwallet and exchange method to be the only truly necessary parts but it just depends on what tradeoffs they're willing to take and how much they value ease of use versus privacy and/or security.
As predictable as the seasons.
One of the worst feelings is deciding to be better prepared for catastrophic risk, and then realizing just how long it's going to take to correct that.
I actually agree with you. One of the most damning failures of Western culture IMO has been the emphasis on the individual to the exclusion of family and community.
I believe personal responsibility is the keystone, and that your growth as a person should encompass the value you provide to your family and the people around you. Not the everyone-for-themselves free for all we see today.
Good times create weak men because there is a lack of struggle, of purpose, of striving and falling short.
The only cure I can see is to propagate a culture where even, and especially, when times are good, we must work harder to realize our own individual potential instead of engaging in parasitism.
With enough people taking responsibility for their own lives, maybe the next saeculum's hard times will blunted.
I took 50mg pregnenolone daily for 30 days.
I track my energy levels and mood as a matter of course, and during this time I was more evened out and less affected by stress than my baseline. Slightly more energy on average. Felt better overall, but it's not something I could pinpoint - just a small but noticable improvement to my general feeling of wellness.
After the 30 days I continued to see and feel improvement to energy and mood and feeling grounded. I suspect it helped balance my hormones and I'm seeing an extended benefit, but that's just conjecture.
I'm impressed with the effects but cautious about fucking about with hormones supplements. I will not fold it into my normal stack but will use it on an as-needed basis. Probably no more than 2-3 weeks at a time.

I define it as a willingness to express opinions that
1. Are controversial or likely to get you attacked.
2. Track closely with reality, despite popular opinion.
So it's going to be subjective. I don't think holocaust deniers are 'based,' as an example.
💯
I bet something could be built on nostr if someone were so inclined. A way to create pockets of knowledge that was not beholden to a gatekeeper.
It's good to have them on, so that you know what the masses are likely to do next. Stay a step ahead.
There is a vast number of quality PDFs available online, for free.
Compiling a small library of downloaded PDFs regarding things you might need to Google is not a terrible idea.
My collection includes:
Automotive maintenance
Firearm maintenance
First aid and wound care
Human anatomy and biomechanics
Medicinal herbs identification
Foraging guides
Hunting guides
Farming principles and best practices
Preserving food
I have access to knowledge that otherwise would rely on someone else's server, and even a functioning grid.
Will I ever need it? Probably not. Hopefully not. But it's a minor time and effort expenditure to hedge risk. Decentralize what you can.
For. Fucking. Real.
I have like 1/20th what I had in Twitter, but I'll take quality over quantity of bots any day of the week.
