SMH. Do they even try to defend this random act of centralization somewhere?

Rest in Peace Samuele Landi: Pioneer on the Indian Ocean Seastead, now at the bottom of the sea

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwqQDaV188k

Tragic, horrible news, everyone.

The most daring seasteading venture to date now lies at the bottom of the Indian Ocean with it's owner, Samuele Landi, and two others lost to the sea, presumed dead. According to Oswald, the documentarian we have spoken with here on this board before, a massive storm on Feb 2nd split the barge in two parts and submerged it, taking 3 lives including Landi's with it.

Oswald has already made this mini-doc addressing it:

(Skip to 3:50 to start with the latest events)

Samuele will be remembered as a seasteading pioneer, and hopefully serve as a seassteader's cautionary tale for us to use overcome, not shy away from, building on the open sea. Rest in peace, friend.

What kind of woke-ass, blue-haired, liberal lefty morons do you take us for?

Plebs,

I took some time off from Nostr, unsure of how much time I’ll really spend here, as I'm still navigating the depths of grief. However, I'm here, seeking solace in the hope that connecting might stir some emotions—be it a glimmer of happiness, a touch of hope, or a moment of peace—as I've been engulfed in a profound numbness.

This year did not start easy for me.

My most loyal companion passed away, embarking on her next journey, but I am still here on this Earth feeling completely devastated and heart broken while trying to tell myself she is in a better place with no pain.

Every morning I wake up and still look to where she would sleep just hoping that this was all a nightmare and she will be there looking at me with her big eyes, patiently waiting for me to roll out of bed and make us breakfast. Every time I return home I can still feel her excitement when she sees it’s me opening the door and every shower I take, I see the spot where she would patiently wait. Every night I find myself still asking her if she is ready to “night night”.

She was the epitome of beauty and perfection. She NEVER went to the bathroom in the house, NEVER bit anyone or any other animal, NEVER barked at any one, and she NEVER chewed shoes or anything in the house, literally PERFECT. She traveled with me around the world, my parter, my best friend, my heart. She was always happy to share her food, water, and toys with every dog she encountered. She allowed everyone to pet her, she was so patient and her kindness was endless, she was just 100% pure love.

I've experienced losses among friends and family, but this loss has by far been the hardest in my life. I suppose we all understand that humans, even our grandparents at one point were not “perfect” and they were for the most part in control of their own lives, so it’s easier to accept this because they lived how they wanted and they had a voice. But saying goodbye to your dog that was actually perfect in every way, showed her gratitude and loyalty everyday, spoke only the language of happiness and love, all while never doing anything wrong, it’s hard to say goodbye. Hard to find happiness outside of her because it feels there is nothing as pure as her little soul.

She was, and forever will be, my entire heart.

So sorry for your loss. I have a much younger pooch that I feel that way about already, and I often think how much pain it will be to lose her one day. I guess this confirms it; it's going to suck bigtime. 😢

It's crazy how human connections can be so much weaker than our connection to our furbabies. Their love is so simple and pure, always present. They never get too tired or in a bad mood to show you how much they love you. What a gift they are.

If you have any of his skin left over I'd like to make a wallet...

I have a bad back and had to do this for many years, on top of carpet & a sleeping bag. Now I live in a hardwood-flooring-only house and was forced to move to a bed. Even though I found the stiffest mattress I could, I often yearn for the floor again.

It' would take a full Nuremburg Trial 2.0 to even start to address this mess. So many evil people doing evil things it makes Nazi Germany look like amateurs...

Unsuprisingly, it seemed to start happening at the same time professional league esports popped up. They've now got more eyeballs watching than the NFL does!

There's some major, major sponsor money behind this trend now. It's not going away.

I've considered doing something like this but it'll take more than just Kroger's API... It should show house prices, car prices, rent, fast food chains, doctor bills, etc., Basically track all things people buy over time and price them from Pizza day to the current time. Every view is graphs, no numbers unless hovering.

I could imagine the UI having life priced in 4 columns: Fiat, Inflation-adjusted fiat, gold, and bitcoin. Maybe a 5th for the S&P500. There should also be some way to enter in a 'savings account' amount and watch how that would have performed over time.

Now that mainstream finance is standing behind bitcoin, and laymen can now believe that it will continue to exist in the future instead of just crashing to zero one day, this data could get even the most careful noob to start saving something in bitcoin.

Pop! OS by System 76. - https://pop.system76.com/

I've used Mint, Ubuntu & Debian for over a decade, but Pop! is the smoothest of them all.

I am convinced you're mostly right and the sausage machine is set to autopilot most of the time. I mean just look at all those Hallmark romance films and their knock-offs on other networks... You can find like 4 new ones a day nowadays, just change the job title and actors, poof, whole new movie with little to no re-writes.

But there are still good filmmakers out there with original ideas, just once in a blue moon. Even in major properties like the Star Wars franchise there are rare gems to be found... Those Sequels were trash but did you see 2016's Rogue One? I literally judge that to be the best movie of the entire franchise, even over Episodes 4, 5, & 3! It had the most real drama by far.

Some say Chris Nolan makes great movies this century but I think he's a bit overrated... Still got a nice style, however.

I'm actually quite surprised how good a few movies are that a B-list actress named Samara Weaving keeps finding herself in. Go check out "Ready or Not" from 2019 to see what I mean. Just wow. Mahem and Guns Akimbo were also brilliant. She was also Bill & Ted's daughter in B&T3... She's really great a picking roles and practically any movie she's in should be a cult classic.

One things for sure; the better the movie, the less the mainstream seems to talk about it. This is the root of your problem.

Enjoy!

US grabs even more sea around it... THIS is why you need to put your seastead out 200+ nautical miles from everyone.

This year it's more shelf, who knows what it'll be next year.

I don't even grok how her contract as a cast member of The Boys would allow her to do this! She's absolutely unrecognizable like this and frankly Hughie is too good looking for her now!

LOVE Andor. & this is such a great, universal quote.

In fact, the whole time period in the Star Wars universe centered on the rise of the rebellion, from Obi-wan's miniseries up until my namesake blows up the death star, has an extremely bitcoin rebellion ethos. That includes the following series & movies: (In chrono order)

*Obi-wan Kenobi (miniseries)

*Rebels (Animated series)

*Andor (Livce-action Series)

*Rogue One (Movie)

*Star Wars A New Hope (Movie)

The best star wars movie ever, IMHO, is Rogue One, but it's hard to pick the better series between Andor and Rebels. Sure, the animation feels chincey with Rebels but the story is oh-so-good, and 100% cannon. In fact, the new live-action Ahsoka series is a direct continuation of the Rebels story set years later.

As bitcoiners we should all absorb every quote and lesson that Andor, Rebels, and Rogue One have to offer us. They were made for us more than anyone else.

Very interesting... But I still want an input method that can be used in quiet or adversarial environments.
