Daily Trivium. Hero worship:

The Perfect is the Enemy of the Good: This fallacy is relevant to hero worship as it implies that since no one is perfect, there can be no true heroes. This perspective can lead to a rejection of heroic figures altogether, as exemplified in the “Hero-Busting” approach.

The Slippery Slope Fallacy: Hero worship can sometimes involve an exaggerated or unrealistic expectation of a hero’s abilities, leading to a slippery slope of disappointment or disillusionment when the hero is found to be imperfect or flawed.

The False Dichotomy: Hero worship can create a false dichotomy between the hero and others, elevating the hero to an unrealistic pedestal and diminishing the achievements and contributions of others.

The Argument from Authority: Hero worship can sometimes involve an uncritical acceptance of a hero’s opinions or actions simply because of their status as a hero, rather than critically evaluating their arguments or decisions.

The Appeal to Emotion: Hero worship often relies heavily on emotional appeals, such as nostalgia, admiration, or reverence, rather than rational evaluation of the hero’s actions or character.

The Fallacy of Oversimplification: Hero worship can oversimplify complex historical or social contexts, reducing nuanced stories to simplistic narratives of good vs. evil or heroism vs. villainy.

The False Narrative: Hero worship can create a false narrative about a hero’s life, actions, or motivations, which may not accurately reflect the historical record or the complexities of the hero’s character.

You and I share a brain. None of my friends understand when I tell them that Marvel is a shitcoin.

You’ll find a lot of vendors downtown that accept bitcoin. Vancouver is actually ahead of the curve in that regard. Make sure to check out the little pubs in Kitsilano near Balaclava and Broadway, and if you have a vehicle, the lookout over the whole city on the way up to Cypress Bowl mountain resort.

Daily vitamin D, Zinc and Quercetin. It’ll never happen again. Prayers 🙏🏽 I hope you sleep

My metal trio can open for you guys. We are Skate Over My Jugular

Yes I could really up the ante if I turned the whole front yard into growing space. It’s a balance between socking away some provisions right now and keeping up the curb appeal so we can gtfo of here onto a country lot soon. And everything I build right now has to be moved. It’s a deterrent to progress.

Haha yeah the cleanup and the staining of the countertop, cutting board and three new tea towels caused a bit of friction. And the fact that I was absorbed for nearly the whole afternoon getting it done lol.

If anyone wants to chat tonight I will have lots of free time. I told my wife to “calm down” earlier. Rookie move.

This year’s beets. Vac sealed and ready for the freezer. Not too bad for a 4x4 raised bed. 5 meals of sides in a pinch. I am looking forward to having more garden space but this is good while we are still in a half acre lot in town.

I strained and saved the water when I boiled them, so I could do a few quarts of those. But I thought I’d have more, so I don’t know if I will bother. They are great though. It’s easy all you do is add a couple of cinnamon sticks, vinegar and pickling spice to a couple quarts of the beet water, boil and strain the mixture, and pour it into your quart jars before you process them through the pressure canner for 30 mins.

Beet day. 12lb on a 4x4 bed. Not stellar, but not bad. I just have to vacuum seal these tomorrow and they are done. Got a nice feed of baby beets for tonight. And of course the inevitable health scare in the middle of the night tonight when it looks like I’m pissing blood, and forgot I ate a quarter pound of beets lol.

Is the work worth it while the grocery stores are still open? No. Will it be worth it when I can pull them out of the freezer in the middle of winter or in a pinch? Yes.

Carrots, squash, and then pressure canning a hundred pounds of potatoes still to go. Cellaring the other 200lb or so. And trying to get some hunting days in. And a bunch of 50 hour work weeks. Fall is a busy time.

Humbled by the response and the use of gifbuddy.lol

I built this app because I love gifs and I love nostr

I thought it would just be something I could use until my favorite client integrated gifs natively, but I always thought by the time I actually built something it would be obsolete

But the memes from nostr:npub1lrnvvs6z78s9yjqxxr38uyqkmn34lsaxznnqgd877j4z2qej3j5s09qnw5 and that one time nostr:npub1a2cww4kn9wqte4ry70vyfwqyqvpswksna27rtxd8vty6c74era8sdcw83a posted about not having gifs easily accessible kept the idea in the back of my mind

Shout out to nostr:npub137c5pd8gmhhe0njtsgwjgunc5xjr2vmzvglkgqs5sjeh972gqqxqjak37w for taking the time to help me with the nostr:npub1nxy4qpqnld6kmpphjykvx2lqwvxmuxluddwjamm4nc29ds3elyzsm5avr7 API and to nostr:npub1vp8fdcyejd4pqjyrjk9sgz68vuhq7pyvnzk8j0ehlljvwgp8n6eqsrnpsw for the slick iPhone double tap shortcut that pulls up gifs faster than my native iMessage plugin

I pushed an update to gifbuddy and am going to sleep so hopefully it doesn't break

(Fun side note: what finally got me to lock-in and code was this note by nostr:npub1xsn2cx73w7837xhkqalzxr5f9prwn6cvnz4t0e60qa0luff7g4fq28nm65 using Canva and Google docs to post gifs)

It’s great!
