Nostr: A printing press for every pleb.
En route to Nostriga 2024.
this is a test note.
Just got my Nostriga passes! Can't wait to meet the free-range Nostriches in a couple weeks. See ya'll in Riga.
this experience is something of a rite of passage for many bitcoiners. just continue to engage anyone who expresses genuine interest. Don't expect to change anyone's mind, but do speak with conviction - in a couple years, they may remember the conversation and your conviction despite the animosity and social rejection, and they will quietly realize you were right the whole time.
I came to the exact same realization recently. I don't think the balkanization effect that is happening can be undone. My family is making arrangements to relocate from CA as soon as possible. Either way the election swings, the draconian measures will double-down.
everybody zap me, and I pledge to give the last npub that zaps me all the sats.
“Holy shit the government just moved the bitcoin intended for Trump’s national stockpile to a new on-chain address. They’re gonna start dumping on us!! Aren’t you worried?? 😱”
Me:
Mostly high-IQ individuals. Not all of us. But a decent handful of us.
Americans should be paying very close attention to what's happening in Venezuela right now, and not dismiss it as something that could never happen here. These people all thought the same thing several years ago.
Just to offer a couple points of perspective for those who feel disappointed about the clear lack of preparation or depth demonstrated in Trump's Bitcoin 2024 speech:
1. It would have been a big deal just for him to show up at the conference for a photo op, let alone deliver a keynote speech. Just 3 years ago, all our minds were blown that we had a former congressman, a couple mayors, and the president of El Salvador engage the bitcoin community. People need to zoom out and appreciate the level of acceleration that is occurring.
2. I would encourage folks to just listen to a few minutes of ANY Trump speech on any topic or industry. When he talks to the auto industry workers, do we think he's doing his homework and saying anything super insightful, well-informed, or thought-out, which showcases his nuanced understanding of their issues?
The Nashville speech was just Trump doing his usual thing, the usual way. What matters is that he was there, and he and his people are engaged with us. It really is a big deal, and is not the let-down you think it is.
Emperor Elon as the plebs eagerly await his special address at the bitcoin conference:
I definitely noticed the profoundly different vibes across both platform timelines but for some reason I never made this connection. Simple, beautiful, and makes perfect sense.
His team almost definitely did, but Trump is notorious for being difficult to coach or prep with talking points, and is known for discarding 80%+ of his pre-written speeches and opting to go off the cuff instead.
There is a guy named Mike Benz who used to be a speechwriter for trump (I believe he actually spoke at the conference this year himself) who has recounted stories of occasions when Trump would actually communicate positions that were at times directly antithetical to the positions articulated in the speeches he wrote.
Ironically, one of the issues he was supposed to address in a pre-written speech was to expose and condemn Big Tech for partnering with NGOs and intelligence agencies to impose widespread censorship programs, but instead Trump winged the entire speech, and gave high praise to the tech industry saying "MAGA stands for Microsoft, Apple, Google, and Amazon". This ultimately was weaponized against him and his voter base, and became a major determining factor in shaping the outcome of the 2020 election.
we are friends in my heart 🧡
Aside from the way they ended it, one of the best tv series of all time.
NOSTR -> echo chamber of optimism.
Everything else -> echo chamber of outrage.
Fascinating what liberty does to a network.
