On the open market, I think that would probably make the supplies more expensive due to other Bitcoiners bidding on the same supplies. There ends up being a Bitcoiner premium added to prices. So it might only work as like, an under the table deal with a friend in the business, or something
In the past it's been because nostr sucked, but at this point I think it's just bad onboarding.
Most onboarding processes start users deep in a bubble of cultist ex twitter influencers, with little guidance on how to make nostr more useful.

A core problem is that all bulk materials in the US are ultimately supplied by the feds, so you lose economy of scale & growth potential if you limit yourself to dollar-avoidant material suppliers.

On nostr, not really. Nostr clients love loading preview cards because nostr devs overall don't really care about the quality of their work.
When I don't want to be/look complicit with that, I just drop the https:// but then the link won't be clickable in a lot of clients
There's a movie called The Circle where a woman accidentally gets a friend killed by trying to reconnect with him by asking for help from people online.
I was already terrified of this happening with Digit before I saw that movie, but I mention it because it actually shows what I'm scared of.
The challenge is to avoid sharing sensitive information and avoid attracting attention from the wrong people. This could have been over with by now if I could just frantically search for her as hard as I can, but I have to be kinda slow and careful.

It doesn't really matter. In places like asknostr, or equivalents like askreddit, you can end up with a herd mentality of parroting bad advice.
Example: Mullvad continues to be widely recommended in VPN discussions across the internet, despite being an obvious honeypot (no port forwarding support).
Even if you could tell the difference between 1 person and 20 people, it doesn't help tell the difference between independent responses and deep state parroting.
