Love linux, self-hosting and privacy. Self-knowledge addict and occasional psychonaut. Lurking in farming and BTC discussions.

Even if I agree with your take on Putin's choices, all you are saying is that the cheating was justified because he lied as well. You don't dispute the cheating happened. So I guess you agree that he has no good reason to agree to a ceasefire now.

On the topic of what his choices might have been three years ago, have a look at this:

https://caitlinjohnstone.com.au/2023/09/07/if-everyone-understood-that-the-us-deliberately-provoked-this-war/comment-page-1/

TLDR - Putin had to choose between waiting for the US to improve their positions against Russia until _they_ are confident enough to attack in one way or another, or draw a red line and enforce it. He did the latter, with ample warnings, which were consistently ignored. If I was Russian that's what I would've hoped he would do.

I probably completely misunderstand you, but it seems to me we have to find a solution that works with lone wolf developers.

The alternative sounds way too centralised. Nostr Corp anyone?

It is better it falls apart and gets replaced by the next iteration of the same concept than the idea and community getting hijacked and redirected into something essentially different.

Nationwide UK just sent me an email that they will be crediting my account (and 12 million others) with £50 because they acquired Virgin Money.

They decided to spend £60 million on what exactly?

I love Linux for the control it gives me.

Every day I have to start my fiat job with a boring, repetitive overly complicated process which also randomly fails sometimes. I just spent an hour to automate it. Screw the time saving, the pleasure I get from watching it whizz through tasks I hate is priceless.

So I could not stop myself from shitposting about it, sorry 😅

-THE BITCOIN BORACAY ISLAND LIFE-

Animal Farm by George Orwell is an allegorical novella that critiques power, corruption, and political systems. Here are ten key lessons from the book:

1. Power Corrupts – Leaders who gain unchecked power often become corrupt, even if they started with good intentions.

2. Equality Is Difficult to Maintain – While the animals initially seek equality, the pigs gradually establish themselves as a ruling class, showing how social hierarchies can emerge.

3. Propaganda Manipulates the Masses – Squealer, the pig, represents how those in power use propaganda to control and deceive people.

4. Education Is a Tool of Control – The uneducated animals are easily manipulated, highlighting the importance of knowledge in resisting oppression.

5. Fear Maintains Dictatorships – Napoleon uses threats, violence, and fear (through the dogs) to silence opposition and maintain control.

6. Revolutions Can Be Hijacked – The original rebellion against human rule is replaced by another form of tyranny, showing how revolutions can be betrayed.

7. Blind Loyalty Is Dangerous – Boxer’s blind devotion to Napoleon leads to his downfall, emphasizing the risks of following leaders unquestioningly.

8. History Can Be Rewritten – The pigs change the commandments on the barn wall, symbolizing how authoritarian regimes manipulate history to serve their interests.

9. Not All Leaders Have the People’s Best Interests at Heart – The pigs claim to work for the greater good but prioritize their own luxury and power.

10. Apathy Enables Oppression – The animals, despite noticing injustices, do little to resist, showing that oppression thrives when people remain passive.

As much as people are different they will never be equal - and shouldn't be. Hopefully they will have equal opportunity to succeed though. People with equal talents working equally hard should be more or less equally successful.

Trump has nothing to do with why I'd never buy a Tesla.

It is the surveillance and to a lesser extent, I don't trust an internet connected car. Everything connected to the internet can be hacked at any time.

The Real Reasons why Gaddafi was assassinated!

1. Libya had no electricity bills, electricity came free of charge to all citizens.

2. There were no interest rates on loans, the banks were state-owned, the loan of citizens by law 0%.

3. Gaddafi promised not to buy a house for his parents until everyone in Libya owns a home.

4. All newlywed couples in Libya received 60,000 dinars from the government & because of that they bought their own apartments & started their families.

5. Education & medical treatment in Libya are free. Before Gaddafi there were only 25% readers, 83% during his reign

6. If Libyans wanted to live on a farm, they received free household appliances, seeds and livestock.

7. If they cannot receive treatment in Libya, the state would fund them $2300+ accommodation & travel for treatment abroad.

8. If you bought a car, the government finances 50% of the price.

9. The price of gasoline became $ 0.14 per liter.

10. Libya had no external debt, and reserves were $150 Billion (now frozen worldwide)

11. Since some Libyans can't find jobs after school, the government will pay the average salary when they can't find a job.

12. Part of oil sales in Libya are directly linked to the bank accounts of all citizens.

13. The mother who gave birth to the child will receive $5000

14. 40 loaves of bread cost $0.15.

15. Gaddafi has implemented the world's biggest irrigation project known as the "BIG MAN PROJECT" to ensure water availability in the desert.

These policies lasted for many years and were not why he was killed.

Muammar Gaddafi proposed a gold-backed currency for Africa called the Gold Dinar in 2009, aiming to establish a Pan-African currency that would challenge the dominance of the US dollar in global trade. This currency was intended to be used for oil transactions. Two years later he was killed.

Trump does not care about free speech. He is looking forward to signing into law the 'Take It Down' bill so he can censor his critics.

I have to agree with Teal Swan: Humanity is in the dark ages when it comes to feelings and emotions. We see them as weakness, something to be controlled and suppressed. Or we let ourselves get overwhelmed. Balanced understanding, interpretation and working with feelings is a rare skill.

If I had to give an award to the best application of the Bitcoin ecosystem (With nostr:nprofile1qy88wumn8ghj7mn0wvhxcmmv9uq3uamnwvaz7tmwdaehgu3dwp6kytnhv4kxcmmjv3jhytnwv46z7qpqpsm37hke2pmxzdzraqe3cjmqs28dv77da74pdx8mtn5a0vegtlasaraze8 permission), it would undoubtedly be Robosats.

Maximum privacy, maximum simplicity and simply effectiveness.

Bitcoin without kyc at market price, I have rarely paid a premium of more than 2%, I usually pay between 0% and 1%.

If you keep using kyc exchanges which in many cases are more expensive than Robosats, you suffer some kind of delay, like when they ask you for selfies by sticking a finger in your ass while holding your ID or the new travel rule.

Be fucking free, don't ask for permission.

Genuine question: is robosats better than bisq and how? I have been using bisq lately and it is far from instant but is reliable and cost-effective.

Amazon is introducing new restrictions on kindle ebooks. You should be able to still download them until Feb 26 2025. Additionally it has edited at least one book whose author is dead (so without author approval).

Losing the royalties is a positive lol.

Europe (the continent) has several times the culture of the rest of the world combined, but the only attempt to unify it resulted in a dystopian bureaucratic dictatorship.

If the EU had the balls to lead an independent policy rather than do as told by the US it would not be increasingly irrelevant. Unfortunately, they have no obvious route to get out of the corner they painted themselves in. Partnership with Russia would have been good but that ship has sailed.

Attempting to look at local files feels like trying to load a webpage full of ads & trackers while having only 1bar of wifi on a dialup connection.

And why tf is the Pixel7pro experience so shit in comparison to the 8?

I am running it on a 6a and have never had issues with file manager, or any app really, loading slow. Some apps don't work at all cause I chose not to install google play services but that's it. Worth troubleshooting further.

The MAHA press conference hits hard. Finally some real questions asked.

When emailing someone, I can add an image to the email by encoding it as base64. Are there any #nostr clients which support this?
