Spain. Catalonia. No power
Stopped using a phone (by accidentally forgetting at airport security)

I donβt think replies are filtered.
But questions with no/very low engagement indeed are filtered until i add some kind of WoT
Made a ton of minor improvements/bugfixes to https://asknostr.site
- [bugfix] addressed issue where answers weren't marked as winning
- [bugfix] links/videos are now opening in new tab everywhere
- [bugfix] fixed z-index issue where filters were displayed under question
- [bugfix] answers with high scores (+10 000) now get displayed as +10k
- [improvement] long threads now take a less vertical space
- [improvement] improved contribution attribution ranking on /tags page
- [improvement] more random patterns on background of questions
- [improvement] fixed issue where last page in paging had wrong questions
- [improvement] overall speed improvements
- [improvement] sprinkled the website with 'discover topics' where needed
I have three open branches open where I'm working on larger functionality that I need to continue working on
- Ranking/Top answerers: add some gamification/rewards to the site
- Author/'my #asknostr' page: see all the questions you asked or participated in the conversation. Display a list of questions where you have the 'winning' answer
- Outbox
Let's see when i have time/energy to finish those. The more I use the site myself, the more I see what's missing or what to improve
I launched https://asknostr.site :-)
Yousician is great.
Or just youtube a song βheart of gold guitarβ and learn that way
You can order answers by zaps, upvotes, thread size,β¦ one signal algo that gets it right would be π₯but ppl need to learn/get used to zaps
Or clients need to remove likes/upvotes
What iβm trying to solve with asknostr.site
Want to add search, outbox, rankings but step by step. Already use the site almost daily
Let me know if you have any thoughts or suggestions
The whole point of pasteurizing milk is to kill bacteria that make milk go bad faster.
Raw milk is only supposed to last max 10 days or so. Make sure there is no bacteria in the fridge that can go in the milk and ask your grocery store when it was milked.
Mweh.
First nostr is more centralised. Now you're using that as an argument to say it's a bug. Study outbox/smart relay selection and then you wouldn't say people are silo'd off. Been using Nostr for over a year now and have not seen the silo effect you talk about.
IPs are not broadcasted in Nostr. Only the relay knows about the client connecting ip and I'm sure that's the same in freenet. It's how the internet works.
You can be anonymous in Nostr. So there is no identity if you do not want one.
Yup. More simple.
I'd love to know how freenet is less centralised, censorable and more private?
Original date. The timestamp is signed into the event.
Start with reading some nips and playing with NAK. You will learn a lot
Im looking for knowledge to counter the "I have nothing to hide" sentiment regarding online privacy. Are there any good books/videos out there? nostr:nprofile1qqsxu35yyt0mwjjh8pcz4zprhxegz69t4wr9t74vk6zne58wzh0waycpz3mhxw309ucnydewxqhrqt338g6rsd3e9uq5gamn8ghj77tvwpc8g6fhv3uxkcm3w4nx2drtxfmngurrxfmrxdmhwe3hsumkv5mk5mmv0fhxjut3vdj8j6tkw9c8zmr9xdkxjepwdahxjmmw9uhazftv maybe?

βArguing that you don't care about the right to privacy because you have nothing to hide is no different than saying you don't care about free speech because you have nothing to say.β
β Edward Snowden
They are similar but different. IMHO Nostr is much simpler/easy to understand.
Some other differences:
- architecture: freenet is some P@P overlay network, nostr event-driven allowing for real-time easier
-network structure: freenet node is both a client and server. Nostr works with relays. Clients and relays (servers) have different purpose
- protocol: freenet = custom protocol, nostr = JSON over WebSocket
I also don't see how freenet would solve zaps/tipping
Setting up a relay is quite easy. With https://github.com/fiatjaf/khatru it takes about 3-5 commands to get it running.
A guide to set-up a relay https://andreneves.xyz/p/set-up-a-nostr-relay-server-in-under
To migrate data i would recommend using nak where in one command you can replay the events to your new/custom relay. You can for example just replay your own events, or only by the people you follow. Example command to replay to another relay in NAK docs -> https://andreneves.xyz/p/set-up-a-nostr-relay-server-in-under
We have a new landing page, new onboarding flow and new dashboard!
Check out on https://npub.pro
We hope these changes make it easier to get started and help you manage your sites better.
Please let us know if you have any feedback!
Looks good. Great job!
Not sure this is what you're looking for but https://asknostr.site is mostly focussed on text content (good questions/answers)
At some point i might add a βhide bitcoinβ content filter to not scare away the haters that think have made up their mind about btc through the main stream media narrative
Putting final touches on a 'browse categories' feature for asknostr.site that should help with discovery.
It lists the topic + the top authors as winning answers in that category (which has the usual suspects, looking at you nostr:nprofile1qy88wumn8ghj7mn0wvhxcmmv9uq37amnwvaz7tmwdaehgu3dwfjkccte9ejx2un9ddex7umn9ekk2tcqyqlhwrt96wnkf2w9edgr4cfruchvwkv26q6asdhz4qg08pm6w3djg3c8m4j) π
A few more finishing touches before I release this one but here is a sneak preview
