I have strong convictions that are loosely held about money, Artificial Intelligence, human potential and personal development.

Gravel man getting it done!

Day 7/31. 10km run. TBH I don’t think strava recorded the run properly. The 6:12km pace is not right. It’s to fast. I am wondering if it dropped signal for a bit. I did a different route today that had more elevation as well. #31days

IMHO you have to seperate what is happening financially from what is happening artistically.

Your financial position should be a set of numbers on a bit of paper (or a spreadsheet) that has today, 6 months, 1 year, 3 years etc laid out. All of the emotion should be removed. You should be looking at it as if you were being paid to advise someone else in your position. It should answer the question at which point does your outgoings stop eating into your savings (I assume you have a reason for saving in the first place). If your savings are propping your business up until it’s viable (whatever that means financially to you) then you are not in control anymore. Once your money runs out then your business aspirations are dead regardless of your sense of authenticity.

I am going to suggest that your sense of authenticity does not come from making stained glass windows. It comes from the act of creating mixed with a sense of agency and control. The stained glass is a vehicle that allows you to experience a set of emotions that you are bundling up into the word “authentic.” Is this truly the ONLY way you will ever feel what you have labeled as authentic? I am suggesting that authenticity should not be used as a primary criteria for choosing to start a business.

I suspect you are also quite aware of the coming labor disruption due to AI and robotics. Ask yourself what will put you into a “position of economic power” should the disruption start knocking on your door. What happens if you simply cannot work?

My thoughts come from 25 years of self employment in 3 business sectors, manufacturing, music education and retail.

I have seen a few posts from people about the difficulty in finding interesting accounts to follow on #Nostr I would be interested to know more about what “interesting” means to you. Is it a specific and curated account focused on a craft, a skill, etc? Is it an acc that has whacked out humour that pushes limits? An account that is a mirror of your own journey ie homesteaders following homesteaders? Or, completely the opposite of what you stand for but you follow respectfully anyway? Is it a blog/vlog style exposé? What makes an account interesting enough that you would follow? 🧐

Right back at ya 🤜

Day 6/31. A 6km walk. Kept an easy pace. #31days

I haven’t seen such a relaxed city bylaw in a long time. People are free to loiter 21 out of 24 hours every single day of the year! What’s more, you can loiter during the busiest hours of the day and night as well.

Editing video this morning. Afternoon is open. After dinner drinks and dessert with friends this evening. So I’m mostly building friendships and memories 🙂

After years of being recommended by nostr:nprofile1qqsyw2lflynya6sj2net9a7d9ksvxxw6unlye4jf7ppya9prfh9vl9cprpmhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumn0wd68ytnrdakjuct4qyvhwumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytnsd3jkycmgv95kutn0wfnse07lvp I finally read The Sovereign Individual.

“To dare a thought is to risk being wrong.” — A reminder that intellectual courage often comes with uncertainty yet Bitcoin givens me certainty.

“Citizenship is obsolete.” — A bold claim suggesting that allegiance to nation-states may fade as individuals gain autonomy through technology. Self custody is sovereignty.

“Faster than all but a few now imagine, microprocessing will subvert and destroy the nation-state.” — A central thesis of the book, predicting the erosion of traditional governance structures. Tik tock next block.

“The future belongs to those who can adapt to the changing circumstances of the world.” — A call to embrace flexibility and innovation. People can just build stuff.

The Sovereign Individual by James Dale Davidson and William Rees-Mogg.

Thanks for the tip.

I was thinking about a similar idea while running this morning. I framed it as “searching for my new normal.” Idea being that today I feel comfortable doing X thing. But to get to Y thing I have to go through a bunch of discomfort. But once I reach Y, I will feel the same level of comfort as X. My new normal will be the comfort of Y. So maybe the challenge is to (as much as possible) be seeking my new normal. Hope that makes sense.

Livin large! 🤣 806 pieces 🤪

I just hit my funny bone in a way that is not funny. 😬😠😑🤪

Spent the afternoon at a river 2 hrs drive away. Stumbled across this plaque on a rock beside the river in the middle of nowhere. This post is for Rick 🫶🏻

"Ownership in this sense is about covenantal responsibility, not property." I truly wish that was the case, but Laser's initial assertion betrays that value.

"My daughters are too valuable for a career."

The problem isn't so much Laser's opinion or believe. It's that he's already undermining and relating to them through a lens of, "You're incapable of competence." It's incredibly condescending, and it's a lie that's already damaging them.

"a line in the sand." What line? You're not allowed to work? That's not a good idea.

My personal philosophy of parenting seems quite different from yours, or Laser's. Whether it's a son or daughter, it's not fundamentally a father's responsibility to clear the weeds and point to the path worth walking. "Don't be careful. Be competent."

It's fundamentally a father's responsibility, beyond the practicals of food and shelter, to help and inspire their son or daughter to discover their voice and identity as designed by God, to give them a base of security in part by making sure they know they are loved no matter what, to emotionally coach them in how to handle themselves intrapersonally and interpersonally, to teach them what boundaries are and how to assert them, and to give them the tools necessary to make decisions that lead to Heavenly outcomes, personally and generally. Or, in your language, to teach them how to pick the weeds and clear the way, in intimate partnership and relationship with God, because to some degree that's how they learn, how they become competent, and grow in character.

I don't think Laser is making god's of his daughters or of their autonomy. I think he's worshipping his own judgement, probably without asking God what He wants Laser to teach his daughters. I could be wrong, but that's the way it seems to me.

What an interesting discussion!

My current dilemma is figuring out how digitally social I should be. Not whether I should do more or less of it, rather how revealing I should be.

Been caught twice in a week now with my DJI Mini 4 Pro account not logged in when I want to fly. This is a new behaviour. Previously I would have to log in every 6 months. 😠
