I watched it, and loved it. Being that deep into the rabbit hole and still being positive is truly mindblowing.
Same case for me, but the reason for that is probably the fact that the amount of people here is orders of magnitude less, which makes your replies more likely to be seen/interacted with. I get that. But if Nostr is destined to scale to tens/hundreds of millions of people, it will be harder and harder for small accounts to even get any interactions and the incentive for them to stay wouldn't be here, the whole comment section will be filled with people begging to be noticed and the content would suck. If that is the case it will either implode because people would give up on trying to share their thoughts or it will become just a message board where popular accounts are interacting with each other and everyone else will be nothing but a content consumer.
That's true but isn't that what journal is for, not a public medium?
Isn't that the purpose, sharing information and gathering different perspectives. At least that is my goal with all types of communication. Maybe writing for yourself is some kind of therapy but that is what journals are for, not public mediums.
Yes, I want to be on the cover of Vanity Fair.
Where did I say I want followers, I just don't want to talk to myself, I even proposed a way of giving small accounts a dedicated space in an explore section.
Since we are trying to genuinely psychoanalyze each other, was that a projection?
This is exactly what I want, I will even give my nsec to BB if he can make my profile better.
Seriously though, I have done my due diligence, I have played with it by making some dummy client and interacting with relays, I have read some of the NIPs, what I mean is there can be an explore tab like there already is trending hashtags on Snort, isn't that spoon feeding me already, is Big Brother serving it or what?
Cristiano Ronaldo gained 20M+ followers in 24h on YouTube, I am not expecting that of course, but at least half of it.
I get that and I am sure it is better than having the almighty algorithm deciding what and who to promote. However what I don't like about this approach is that it feels like going door to door throwing your opinion on everything just to try to "promote" yourself in a way. There must be a better way. Maybe there is, I haven't explored all of the possibilities of Nostr but some kind of Explore feed would be nice for new accounts, especially if it is served by paid relays to reduce the spam.
No organic reach, if you are not already popular, it feels like your notes are going straight to /dev/null
We are finally going down to 58K again, everything seems under control.

I see a lot of people here using Primal, am I missing something or you are all fine with the KYC/email requirement because it makes the zaps frictionless?
The big influencers probably think they are bulletproof, and that their huge audience has their back - until they are banned or cancelled. Then they don't even have a platform to share their perspective. I think this is how Nostr will win; eventually, more and more people will be affected, and they will come here for asylum. Just like Trump moved to Parler when he was banned from Twitter, and it was destined to become the next big player in the space if Amazon didn't shut it down.
A college degree proves to your future employer that you are a tolerant, obedient, and non-questioning employee.
The vanity tax is the highest and self-imposed one.
Dark times ahead, for sure, but thankfully we now have the tools and technology to help us move through them faster than ever before.

Imagine the type of quality a meme needs to have to be worth risking it all.
Just like the Hollywood celebrities are becoming less and less relevant compared to influencers, influencers will become less relevant to anonymous philosophers. Humanity is healing slowly but surely.
