We're pleased to announce that Coinos is now available as a native Android app. You can find it in Zapstore (https://zapstore.dev/) and Obtainium (https://obtainium.imranr.dev/) or download the APK file from our Github page: https://github.com/coinos/coinos-ui/releases/tag/v1.0.0

We're currently seeking internal testers to help us get into the Google Play Store as well. If you're willing to help with that, please join the testing program here: https://play.google.com/apps/internaltest/4700271962235712116 or send us your email address.

The Android app doesn't offer anything new or different from our existing Progressive Web App other than the ability to open bitcoin: lightning: and nostr: links natively

In fact the Android app is just a simple wrapper around our web app, but we hope that by releasing it we'll be more easily discoverable for people who search for Coinos in the Play Store.

We'll be looking into releasing an iOS app in the future as well.

very cool!

replace the word 'investor' please when talking about people that buy memecoins, ty

their ways are battle tested when it comes to food and drink 😅

their built-in wallet option is great, and i also really like that if you bring your own wallet to it with an nwc string...it is not just for zapping but functions as a full on wallet front end for sending sats via QR, making invoices.

-THE BITCOIN BORACAY ISLAND LIFE-

Review of The Doors of Perception by Aldous Huxley

Aldous Huxley’s The Doors of Perception is a brief yet profound exploration of human consciousness and perception, originally published in 1954. The book is a philosophical reflection on Huxley's experience with mescaline, a powerful psychoactive substance, and how it altered his perception of reality. The title itself refers to a line from William Blake’s poetry, "If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is, infinite."

Huxley delves into the idea that our everyday perception of the world is limited by the mind's filters — a kind of cognitive veil that obscures the infinite potential of sensory experience. Through his mescaline experience, Huxley suggests that the ordinary, "normal" human perception of reality is not the full spectrum of what could be perceived. He discusses how the drug allows a person to perceive the world in vivid, almost divine clarity, emphasizing the beauty and interconnection of all things.

The book is both a personal account and a philosophical inquiry into the nature of reality, consciousness, and the limitations of the human mind. Huxley argues that psychedelic experiences, though fleeting, offer a glimpse into a heightened state of awareness, which, if accessible more regularly, could lead to a deeper, more profound understanding of life.

In addition to Huxley’s narrative, the book includes insights from Rudolf Schirmer, who contributes a foreword discussing the historical and cultural context of Huxley’s exploration of altered states.

Verdict: The Doors of Perception remains a seminal work in the field of consciousness studies, blending Huxley’s intellectual rigor with his personal exploration of altered states. While it’s certainly a product of its time, it offers timeless reflections on the limitations of ordinary perception and the potential for expanded awareness. It’s a must-read for those interested in philosophy, psychology, and the intersection of science and spirituality.

Here is an answer from nostr:npub126ntw5mnermmj0znhjhgdk8lh2af72sm8qfzq48umdlnhaj9kuns3le9ll :

Switching between the two is a little complicated because of the way this is temporarily set up to allow both to exist and share the same blockchain. Because they do share it, definitely don't uninstall anything. The trick is to get access to downgrade and reinstall options, each of which might be relevant depending on what versions and upgrades are available.

Basically...

Reinstall method

In the StartOS System tab, click the “Manage” heading 5+ times to enable developer mode.

Visit the Marketplace, and the version you want to install. Click “Reinstall” on the service, or

If you get a notification claiming the install failed. Don’t worry, it succeeded. You just need to open the config and click “Save”.

Downgrade method (should not be needed unless the versions are out of sync)

In the StartOS System tab, click the “Manage” heading 5+ times to enable developer mode. (Do this anyway if you'd a switcher, might be useful later)

Visit the Marketplace, and the version you want to install. Scroll down to Versions and select at least one version down.

Install that.

There'd be no need to resync, and all dependent services should be happy.

In StartOS 0.3.6 this will all be unnecessary, and the process of switching between Bitcoin implementations will be streamlined.

just finished rewatching Point Break last night.

'Young, Dumb and Full of Cum' was an incredible line i had forgotten 🤣

my living room smart tv has started sending system notifications that appear at the top of screen reminding me that as part of their service agreement they get to monitor everything im doing on said smart tv.

thanks for the reminder that i need to get a dumb tv.

Solo Mining on a Monero node is fun, it's cool that the project still allows for GPU mining, akin to when btc mining and the node were one.

I recommend it to any btc user that wants to learn about mining since it can be done for free on an old lap top or something similar.

Is there a nip-29 group for lightning node runners on nostr?

i downloaded fedi and played around with it but i didn't see what it adds.

so you use a nostr client inside fedi, and the zaps happen from your fedi wallet ? i remember there being a built-in browser, is that how your are using nostr with fedi ?

it is like that, aint it.

its like...you never had the fking keys to begin with otherwise.

bitcoin and nostr are effectively the first time schmucks like us have had the right to use keys...keys used to get. out.

and youre saying because its risky, you want back into the burning building? madness

i just dont buy that hes 'missing it', it feels like he's lying, to me personally, when he talks about nostr. feels inauthentic ( which is in contrast to when i have heard and read his takes on other topics) and since i cant read his mind, all i can do is not trust his sincerity ( which unfortunately makes me question his sincerity in general ).

i think he just doesnt see how he can make money on it or use his existing businesses tp make money with it. i dont see a reason to look into it further 🤷‍♂️
