I sell lights @ apogeehouse.com, an architectural lighting, fans, & controls distributor. Fan of financial markets, tech & BBQ. Always learning. Using nostr to share what I have learned. Nothing I say is financial or medical advice. Assume everything I say is wrong. Do your own research.

Money is a tricky topic because it’s not a natural concept.

There’s no ā€œmoneyā€ in nature. It’s a tool – a technology humans created to make transacting easier.

Throughout history, depending on where you lived, money has taken many forms: stones, seashells, glass beads, salt, metals, and now even Bitcoin. Hell, even drugs and cigarettes in prison are used as money today.

Currency, like dollar bills and coins, is a ā€œsecond layerā€ built on top of money to make transactions easier (like the Lightning Network is a Layer 2 on top of Bitcoin). But currency requires trust in the issuer – usually a government.

The problem is, most people don’t think deeply about what money really is. For them, dollars are money, end of story.

But if they stopped to dig deeper, they might realize that new technologies, like Bitcoin, can actually be better forms of money. More secure, more transparent, trust-less, and efficient.

If you think of money as a technology it’s easier to wrap your mind around new possibilities.

Sunday thoughts…

I’m being generous since most don’t even say 1% or even that there’s a spread.

Math works though! 🤣

When an exchange says no fee, ā€œjust a 1% spreadā€, and the spread turns out to be $800.

I definitely understand. It takes a lot of work, the full packer brisket takes me 30-60 minutes to prep, plus another 12-14 hours on the smoker and another 2 hour minimum rest. If they don’t appreciate it, definitely leave it for yourself lol.

Butts are way easier and more people seem to like it.

When did you get on carnivore? I got started October 1st, 2023 and it’s been great. I’ve been slacking a bit the last week or so with the holidays but not too bad. I definitely prefer carnivore and it’s easier for me to stick to.

Oh man, that sounds so good right now. I might do the same this week, been lazy. Last brisket I got was a disappointment, barely had any of the point.

I’m sure it’ll turn out great, enjoy! Share pics of the finished product if you can.

Investing isn’t a team sport.

A good chunk of the Robinhood generation just follow the crowd/trend.

It was obvious with GameStop/AMC and now it’s repeating with Microstrategy $MSTR.

The main guys doing analysis on this are bright people, like Jeff and Ben from the IL group, but blindly following anyone (even Warren Buffett) is a disaster waiting to happen.

If you don’t do your own research, you depend on others to know when to get in or out. Do your own research, your own due diligence, and listen to the smartest people in the space. Make your own decisions, have your own targets, and stop blaming others if it doesn’t go your way.

Even nostr:npub1rtlqca8r6auyaw5n5h3l5422dm4sry5dzfee4696fqe8s6qgudks7djtfs, one of the most positive people in the space left the group because of the whining. Man up or just buy the VOO S&P index.

Oh, and good morning. #gm

When you associate events in your life by what the price of bitcoin was, you may have gone too far…

PSA: The Jamie Foxx special on Netflix is basically a musical.

Overthinking is a constant battle.

It takes effort to quickly eliminate the noise and focus on the signal.

The more you decisions you make, the easier it gets.

GM!

It’s okay to change your mind.

Give your original decision a chance to work out and if it proves to not be in your best interest.

If you came across new information or realized the changes aren’t what you really wanted, it’s perfectly fine to pivot.

Don’t change ā€œjust becauseā€ or because it’s hard though.

Anyone know of a way to earn cash (or sats) back by paying a mortgage or utilities, ideally with a credit card?

I’m aware of Fold but they seem to only provide rewards on ACH after using X amount of ā€œqualifying spendsā€.

Any ideas?

Good morning!

I’ve always enjoyed looking at charts and technical analysis.

I know this is taboo (or male astrology) for many of you, please ignore if you do. I don’t trade for a living, just do it for fun mostly and it’s helped me make better investment decisions.

It looks to me like Bitcoin is likely to hit $70K around late-January/early/February before continuing its upward trend.

Honesty, this seems unlikely with all the positive news and change in regime but I’ve seen crazier things.

What do you all think?
