To all of the people that are comfortable using KYC exchanges who tell me to just buy and not worry about it, THIS is why I refuse to use them. THIS is what keeps me from being able to buy #Bitcoin.
Jokes aside, I know that there are a lot of people who are legitimately addicted to coffee. It basically is a drug. Personally, I just treat it like a once in a while indulgence and this makes it a lot more enjoyable to me due to that scarcity. Tea is my daily go-to, as I'm sure you could gather from my name here π€
That works for now, but I'm talking about decades from now when old cars are just not able to be repaired anymore. In that case, we really don't have any other option. It's either, use a "smart car" or use public transportation. Both play right into the hands of the whole 15-minute cities crap.
3D printed cars when? π
I live in a pretty small town, where most of the restaurants are just family owned businesses, so I don't encounter this too often. However, if I were living in a big city, it would drive me nuts.
I can see how that would be useful if you're reading a lot of pages on web browsers or something along that line. Personally, I like a lot of color on my screens, as long as it's not burning my eyeballs or something haha.
I really hope that we someday see some real competitors rise up so that we don't all have to intentionally allow ourselves to be screwed over by these car manufacturers. I don't need a smart car. I just want a regular car.
All I need it to do is to allow me to get from one place to another. I don't need it up to have all of these other features built in. If I want that, I can build something for myself.
I'm so sick of this push for excessive and mandatory tips, as if cashiers and waiters are worth more to society than everybody else. Absolutely blows my mind, the entitlement some people have.
I think I'm done trying to use SimpleX. Every time I use it, it's stupidly slow. It takes forever for messages to catch up. Even when you try to reduce the amount of groups you're in to hopefully increase speeds, it still takes forever just to LEAVE a group.
So much for the supposedly almighty and perfect "messaging app of the future". π
I'll just stick with Signal for most things and Session if I want something anonymous. At least both of those work the way they're supposed to.

Does anyone know how much telemetry Samsung's One UI sends?
I can't use a custom ROM so my next best bet is to replace as much as possible with open source alternatives and to strip out bloat using Shizuku+Canta. I do like One UI, but if it's harming my privacy, then I'd like to switch to something else. The problem is I have a hard time finding any open source launchers that look good and suit my needs.
I did try Lawnchair, but it crashed on me and I had to restart all over again in setting the layout. This is insanely tedious, and I'm tempted to just stick with One UI, rather than risk having it crash again on me and have to start all over again. I currently have seven pages on One UI, as I like to make use of widgets, pretty often. However, I also have a lot of folders and app layouts, so having to redo this each time it crashes is not viable.
Just looking to get everyone's thoughts on One UI and whether or not I should fully switch over to a FOSS launcher instead.

I've looked into various handhelds, I think all of them have their upsides and downsides. Problem with the Ally is that it runs proprietary slopware (Windows 11) and is not friendly to right to repair in the way the Deck is. I also trust Valve a heck of a lot more than Asus, which has a bit of a history of being quite anti-consumer. If I had the money, I'd buy a Deck, Ally and Legion Go but as it stands, I personally think the Deck is the best overall deal and it aligns with pro-freedom values the most of those three.
I never noticed this before, since I'm relatively new to Linux, but the opening loading screen on Watch Dogs 2 makes some cool references I now recognize, such as the EXT4 file system.

I want to know why people diss Jobs (2013). People tend to say stuff like, "it was just Ashton Kutcher dressed as Steve Jobs" but I really don't get that. I still think it's a fantastic film, if not entirely accurate, and it reminds me of why I love personal computers.

This is my concern with VR. I won't consider buying a headset unless I can test with another person's gear. I have motion sickness issues in cars so I'm not willing to risk several hundred on something I might not be able to use.
Man, the smartphone market is such a racket. Offer people a spying brick of silicon that they don't truly own, give them all sorts of addictive properties that they justify as "convenience", then stop supporting the OS within a couple years so that they either have to spend $300+ on a new phone every few years or risk both security and incompatibility.
Oh, and that's not mentioning the fact that the majority of phones don't even let you use a custom ROM (further contributing toward the lack of ownership) and unless you use something like Tracfone, you're tied to a KYCed phone subscription that makes it hard to cancel, switch or even afford.
There's a reason why I put off using a smartphone until two years ago, when I was basically forced to get one. I really wish I could go back. PCs and laptops are so much better.

I might do that, currently saving for a Steam Deck though so my Christmas sale purchases will be minimal this year haha
Yes, I use Obtainium and F-Droid (via the Droid-ify fork) for most of my apps, fantastic software! π«‘
As for Amber, is a bug that exposes my nsec a significant threat? Also, how does it protect your keys? I understand the signing aspect, but couldn't a bug theoretically expose them in Amber as well?
Little bit of a late reply but this is a game I've been meaning to get one of these days. In general, I want to try Quantic Dream's games, they seem very unique.
First I've heard of it! What makes it special to you?
Just one (Amethyst). I had Primal installed at one point since I was having an issue with filtered words I couldn't seem to delete, but that issue resolved itself so Amethyst is all I need right now. I'm not just saying that, either. It has all the features I want or need.
