I’m not a fan of regulation and government intervention, and there are certainly problems like mass shootings that registration wouldn’t address or help. I do think there are people who will abuse the right to have guns, and when guns are abused a ballistics and ownership database would be useful. As it is, if I shot someone in an unjustified circumstance and the gun is never found, the murder is unlikely to be solved. If the crime scene bullet can be linked to my gun with forensic data, the murder is very likely to be solved. I recognize that having a registry makes it much easier for a herd of gun abolitionists to identify and target gun owners with politics and activism. I would like to see a reasonable middle ground on this issue. An unarmed population is a vulnerable population, but some gun ownership regulation is also necessary no?
What do you advocate? I’ll excuse the offensive response for now in the interest of having a productive conversation.
I think a healthy relationship is a symbiotic collaboration between autonomous individuals. The relationship itself is a independent entity who exists as a result of their efforts.
It’s important for everyone to be the architect of their autonomy in relationships.
I think guns should be registered to people and have registered ballistic fingerprints. After that, sell them to anyone with a reputable background and legacy. Responsibility and accountability.
I still think seat belt laws and motorcycle helmets are violations of personal freedom. Is it stupid to go without either? Yes. It’s called natural selection. Stop protecting unfit people from their fates.
Your approach sounds reasonable and therefore sustainable. Good for you!
Massive peer competition too. The tale of procreation is filled with treachery, deceit, and strategy. To be successful, males must be skillful tacticians. Culture has definitely shifted the priorities in human reproduction though.
I suppose it could be called addiction, or it could be evolutionary biological fact, eggs are expensive, sperm are cheap to produce. In nature offspring are typically not cared for by the male, this conquest is simply a natural mandate to spread gametes opportunistically, it is also a natural mandate for females to be selective when they’re not being forced to participate. Thank goodness for ahem, most cultures. Nature without culture is brutal.
I see two turkeys foraging, but also a goat wearing a Covid mask.
Absolutely correct, the data was and is still there in my mind. At 29, with substantial study in anthropology, I made a decision about the religion my family chose to indoctrinate me with. They still choose to believe and I do not.
Roughly, in jest. I read the Bible cover to cover twice by the time I was ten. Motivation came from an abusive mother with a belt. Having a photographic memory, I think I have a fairly good grasp on the dogma as well as the wider scope of human religious cultural backgrounds. Generally, I have no desire to unseat a belief pattern that brings peace and comfort to a believer, I do think that blind faith is potentially dangerous and that analysis and skepticism are important components to any belief pattern.
My opinion is that most Christians like to ignore much of what their sacred text teaches with no consequence for doing so from their god. The Old Testament is not tolerant of deviation from dogma at all, then Jesus came along and told everyone it’s all good, do whatever you want and ask forgiveness at some point. Zero accountability.
I’ll check it out. Thank you!
