I have an ethical conundrum concerning XMR.

If they problem with privacy coins being that it’s only a matter of time before they get shutdown because they cannot be tracked, why would banks and the governments get rid of paper and physical coin currencies be taken off the market as well. They can’t be tracked as well. Just a curious observation.

Still not an answer. I just want a logical explanation of why they look at something like XMR as shady when physical currency has the same attributes when it comes to transparency. I can give cash to a drug dealer. Can’t be tracked. I can pay for my groceries with cash. Can’t be tracked. Just want an explanation.

Aren’t you still trusting a third party with Monero? I’d rather have private custodial bitcoin than a shitcoin.

This is the “everything is nuanced” and “everything is a matter of perspective” doctrine, (Nuance and Perspective Doctrine). If you really believed what you believed was true and were not in a Cult, it wouldn’t matter to you that Wallet of Satoshi works in a way you have been instructed is wrong; you would not be triggered by it, or by people who recommend it.

Instead, in a Pavlovian response, you repeat on trigger, all the things you’ve been trained to say. It looks bad. Like like you’re part of a cult, and so, it’s a fair guess that you’re in a Cult.

Your cult status is very relevant. Being brainwashed is not a positive state of mind, believe it or not. Leave the Bitcoin cult. Embrace Wallet of Satoshi!

And you can tell that they have no interest in spreading Bitcoin around the world. They’re interested only in uniformity of opinion, everyone using the same language, absolute conformity in behaviour and essentially being one with the group.

Thankfully, Bitcoin spreading everywhere doesn’t depend on people playing dress up, “Podcasters”, ugly Americans and other clown show Cult dynamics. The world will be Bitcoinized.

The question is, “who is going to do it?”. People who refuse to take risk won’t do it. Cult Leader speech police who think Bitcoin is about debates on how many satoshis can fit on the head of a pin won’t do it. Memes won’t do it.

If it were the case that the Bitcoin Cult could work to spread Bitcoin, there would already be billions of people using it. But that isn’t even their ambition. All they want is unquestioning compliance to the cult rules; they don’t care about Bitcoin winning; Bitcoin, for them, literally is Twitter (and now Nostr).

These westerners are like the Eloi in “The Time Traveller”; insipid, detached, emotionless, vapid (“stay humble, stack sats”), weak, human cattle. Compare and contrast with Nigerians, operating in a country where the Government is openly hostile to Bitcoin, and yet it is spreading like wildfire there, making it the number two country on earth for Bitcoin.

Nigerians aren’t interested in Bitcoin Memes and other Eloi infantilism, and yet it has spread rapidly. What are they doing there in Jos, Abuja, Kano and other places, and why is Bitcoin so popular there? No one is asking this amongst the Bitcoin Cult…you can pick your own reason why.

And “Bits” not “Sats”!

Yes, I am BTC only. After witnessing three bear markets and reading dozens of books on bitcoin, history, and economics I concluded that Bitcoin is the best investment on the planet by a large margin.

XMR attracted me for a time in the sense that it's supposed to be private, a feature BTC hasn't ironed out yet. There has been some speculation around that, but I don't have any evidence either direction. The fact that I know what Fluffy Pony looks like is problematic in itself.

What I do know is that XMR has a blockchain bloat problem (ZEC is worse), the full UTXO set cannot be audited, there is not a supply cap, and legislators are going to attack the onramps to XMR in particular because it is a lightning rod for illegal activity.

The first three issues are technical facts. The last one is a game theory issue. Regardless of ones ideology around the state it's clear that major investors will steer clear of XMR and it will never attract the kind of capital that BTC will.

I'm always open to a discussion, but I have had this discussion many times already so forgive me if I don't engage beyond this message.

The fundamentals of Bitcoin is a store of value and a peer to peer electronic cash. There will and are plenty being built on top of it to give it privacy features that make KYC useless.

Well, I was going to sleep but I guess I'm not allowed to sleep, it's nearing 11:30pm and people in my area think now is the time to start being loud and obnoxious. So guess I'll sleep when they are done.
