Capitalism, Bitcoin, meat, fossil fuels. Hoppe, Rand, Mises, Rothbard, Nakamoto.

The movies get a lot of bad rap. But I find myself watching a handful of individual scenes regularly because they motivate me (to keep going Galt, among other things). Some of the soundtrack too.

To me that falls under great art.

Ok, but at least Apple pay lipservice to privacy. Google don't even pretend not to be spying on you. So for normies, I don't see any benefits.

Isn't it *necessary* to de-Google an Android for it to be worth it? Are there any choices other than GrapheneOS here?

And what are you comparing against here? (iOS?)

Bitcoiners who are only in it "for the tech", and are not here to kill central banks - because sOciEty hAs dEvELopEd cEntRaL BanKs oVeR CenTuriEs aNd thEy wiLL cOExiST wiTh BiTcOin - are boring.

We are not the same. Not even close.

Let's not fool ourselves as Bitcoiners. We came very close to borking the entire system in 2018. https://cointelegraph.com/news/inflation-bug-still-a-danger-to-more-than-half-of-all-bitcoin-full-nodes

In the end, a transparent blockchain is no substitute for code audits, and there is no 100% guarantee that developers won't mess up again in the future.

(This is also what bothers me about the "Bitcoin is antifragile" mantra. The mantra is true only from a certain point of view (outside attacks). But from another point of view (developers messing up), it is very fragile indeed.)

Very few Bitcoiners are fully honest about this issue.

Better than a fossil fuel benefit deniers.

Interesting; I didn't know there were such strong views against this.

Can you please do another post with more info about why drivechains are a bad idea?

I have no dog in this fight fyi. Actually, I'm probably on your side (on the side of conservatism and not messing with Bitcoin), but so far I've only heard Sztorc's side of things (on P. "Nuance" M.'s show for instance).

Okay, but are relays storing IP addresses and showing them anywhere publicly? (For instance as afaik happens when a Bitcoin transaction is posted.)

I use a VPN but it still makes me nervous because I could forget to VPN one day.

If the concept of coal improving our environment perplexes you, chances are good that you have a superficial view of what the concept "our environment" means to begin with. nostr:note1kh8raszl3adpray8nrwn5839a5wk0wqq89xwkawsgdgr5tsfd2csc09zvw

It would be nice to learn why. (What am I missing about Nostr, the thing that makes early adoption important?)

Have you looked into Qubes, where *everything* you do all day long is on a VM by default? They have made it so easy and smooth. Been using it for 2 years, and my only regret is that I didn't start sooner. I don't feel safe using normie Linux anymore. (Not to mention the macOS and Windows spyware systems, obviously.) https://qubes-os.org

There is no particular benefit to being an early adopter of Nostr, as is the case with Bitcoin.

For instance, Saifedean Ammous (to name just one example of countless) could start becoming active here today, or next year. It wouldn't make any difference for him. In fact, one could argue that he'd be better off just waiting and seeing how things develop, and staying on X until then.

Great for vacations, but horrible to be a tax resident in (if the goal is low bureaucracy, low taxes, strong rule of law, and stable political climate). Is that a good summary?

The book "Zurich Axioms" taught me to fall in love with people - not political jurisdictions, lands, buildings, or things.

In the past, people have crossed oceans in search for a better life, knowing they would likely never go back. Normally, things had to be *really* bad for people to consider this - as in, starvation-level poverty.

Out of curiosity, have you wondered how bad would things have to get before you would consider leaving Germany? (It gets harder the more people you love you would have to leave behind. However today, nobody is really leaving anything behind as in the old days because of communication and travel technologies.)
