Aww! these look wonderful! Nothing like a little package of baby π₯°
Welcome! lots of great advice so far on this thread
A few years ago I first came across that idea - that we choose our parents - and it's amazing how powerful it is. It almost doesn't matter how that might happen; just the possibility that it might be true can shift how we experience life.
she got that wrong and she is a bitcoiner now thanks to our community

I loved that interview!! The way you didn't push her on bitcoin and just let us all enjoy her brilliant cranky insights. Amazing π€©
From my (non-tech, pleb) perspective, leaving the protocol alone seems like a very very good idea.
The energy and innovation on layer 2 (and 3?) protocols can hopefully address any improvements we need now and give us tools for difficulties as they arise.
In the short time that I've known about bitcoin, it's become a source of real hope for me. When I hear someone casually mention changing the base layer protocol, I feel queasy.
There was a nostr:npub1cpem4gceylcr56ym4nx7dt6g0caadlu8dmvuluhrqfvymdgsrgtsgdq62p podcast this spring had a wonderful convo between nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx and his guest , (Ck, I think? Primal's not letting me tag him) . It was about the importance of getting the stats we have over the finish line. The running joke in the episode was that we actually all have enough sats now, that 34 sats might end up being generational wealth - but seriously that we need to focus more on whatever it will take to hold onto them and get ourselves, our families, and our communities through the coming mess.
The main message stayed with me and I think of it all the time! It's applicable in so many areas.
Now that we have land, I pore over books on so many amazing plants and I want to buy ALL THE FRUIT AND NUT TREES. I want to have a hazelnut orchard, test a bunch of heritage apple varieties, plant every berry bush there is, experiment with honeyberries, juneberries, jujubes, hardy kiwis, Celeste figs, Mt Etna figs, Paradiso figs.... so many wonderful options! That's all great and exciting, but the lesson from that episode was that our main job re: trees right now is making sure that the ones we have are healthy and happy. That it's worth taking the time to set up a system where they easily get the fertility and water that they need (a new swale? can we run the ducks or rabbits near them? what are the support plants that will do well nearby? what amendments might they need to help them thrive? what can we do to help build the soil? what synergies are available?) - that's where I should put my energy. I remind myself that one healthy apple tree is worth much more than dozens of stunted neglected twigs.
(Someone could write a lovely essay on how this might play out in so many areas. E.g. in relationships - that it's great to have lots of good connections, and it's always terrific to meet new friends, but ultimately our most sacred task is to deepen and strengthen the ties we have with our current loved ones.)

One month from today or yesterday, Sophia is expected to make her debut π₯°
β¦which means it could be two weeks from now or a month and a half π
Just went to a checkup and things seem to continue to go well! Itβs the second time sheβs been described as an βA+ babyβ π
nostr:npub1jrx2fk666k5nt8vgak9xwyxlgcwh8fl9rvpwvvcpdthuqkcnptrqdfhtaq and I are so excited to meet her! And for her to no longer be in a position to press on my intestines with her entire head and shouldersβ¦

oh!! so wonderful π
They love willow and mulberry! I think those are the favorites, but they'll often go first for whatever is most new in the mix.
I posted a photo of the rabbit fodder I gather on daily walks but here's the much sweeter pic of them eating it!

Today I'm putting together a tutorial on nostr:npub1dx5q2el8nd4eh3eg9t2e25fd7zuqg7zxz6ldkc3uzgh66ss2yc6st288sj - ecash integrated with lightning and nostr. Anything in particular you guys would like me to include in the video?
Another vote for explaining it as if to a 5yo!
The advantages, the various use cases, as well as the usual how-to.
Love your videos, Ben! π€©

I love our chickens, but feeding the rabbits has been a revelation. They mow down a lot on their own, and I can gather lots of food for them on a quick walk - a mix stuff that grows wild on the land (blackberry canes, golden rod) and some fodder that we've planted (willow, mulberry, comfrey, yarrow).

False dichotomies. You can be against the welfare state AND against bombing Muslims.
You can love immigrants (including your own ancestors) AND dislike what's happening today at the US border.
I recently moved to an area not known for its tolerance with my immigrant husband. We assumed that we would run into some issues, but there have been none at all, including by folks who are passionately worked up about the current flood of illegal immigration.
If the rest of national policy actually allowed a free market, I don't think you'd hear nearly as much complaining (or it would be complaints from different people).
Nostr goats! Terrible photo, but they're very cute goats π

Thoughts on teaching reading
Iβve been thinking a lot about this lately. I was an early reader but remember being confused by the way my mom tried teaching me to read, and canβt remember how it finally clicked. So Iβm absorbing good information about this when I find it.

I think about this kind of thing a lot!
I teach violin, and as helpful as it can be to break things down, sometimes kids get lost in the details and it's helpful to move to larger pieces (either more complex challenges, or longer phrases) and allow things to be messy for a while. My usual guideline is that engagement comes before anything else. Once the child is exciting about playing, lots of approaches will work.
With reading, I would think the first thing is to have a good association with it, and the next is to inspire the desire to read. Only then does it make sense to look at details of pedagogy.
I have a deal with my husband regarding bitcoin podcasts: I don't make him listen to any but I can talk about them as much as I like. I think he's heard about every single time you've given Marty shit about the blue check.
Odell, you have mastered the skill of unrelenting, tireless repetition. It's quite effective.
Go for it π
