Violinist and teacher, building a homestead on raw land in between lessons and concerts. Fascinated by how we can develop resilience in our lives, in our families, in our communities. I'm excited about freedom tech and circular economies, and am deeply grateful for the devs and advocates who are helping build tools for a better future.

I find this puzzling. I've literally never been harassed on Nostr in the 7 or 8 months I've been here. I've muted a handful of accounts because there's some shit that I just don't need on my radar, but even that wasn't directed at me.

No moderation means that it's up to us - mute freely, post freely, zap freely - but along the way we will no doubt be exposed to stuff that we don't like.

In any case, Kayla - I'm sorry this is happening to you!

[And to all the folks who are building out Nostr, whatever your gender, you have my immense gratitude ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’œ]

Yah, okay. I actually considered this but it seemed like a weird April fool's joke. I think you recently lowered the fees, right? So I assumed this was a continuation of that.

In any case, happy April ๐ŸŒป!

Whoa - that's exciting but it significantly changes a promise to your current clients, since one of the things you offered before was the knowledge that everyone had to pay to be on there. Skin in the game for all users increases privacy, reduces spamming, etc.

"Let's take a big picture look" proceeds to hear a much bigger picture.

That was very satisfying

"Biden issuing a ruling" is one of the most insane things I've ever seen.

He's the president of a republic, not a king.

(Also, nation-wide rent control? what could possibly go wrong? ๐Ÿคช)

this is a hard lesson for me. I feel like I have to learn it over and over again (or - more likely - it still hasn't quite sunk in)

earthworms are the ultimate "if you build it they will come"

This patch is part of an area of badly disturbed ground. Last summer it was bare clay, hard as a rock, so what you see is a huge improvement.

Each spot where we planned to plant this spring got a nice pile of mulch around January (Sept would have been even better!) or at the very least a piece of cardboard. The cardboard looks ridiculous - messy ugly shapes all over the land - but lifting it up is a delight: earthworms and nice moist ground.

Interesting!

Dunbar's number is often what I come back to when I look at human interactions within society.

Our human impulses - whether we consider them "good" or "bad" - make sense within a small, interdependent group. Many (most?) are a disaster when applied at the scale of a nation.

I worked for the state once. I was in the Air Force.

In 2012, They took my appendix when they didn't need to.

In 2016, they vaccine injured me with a round of shots my doc recommended. I got a letter in the mail saying it was a bad batch, but it was completely safe and I should come get another round. Nah, doc.

I got automimmune issues from that, and they worsened from the poisoned food. I left the military in 2017. The VA ignored me repeatedly because they don't believe in vaccine injuries.

I can't eat gluten, dairy, rice, or seed oils without heart palpitations and reactions that feel like im dying these days

Anyways, I began contracting for that same Air Force again in 2018. They tried to poke everyone again in 2020. I said no and I lost my job from saying no in December 2021. I haven't worked in 2.5 years.

This whole time I've been spending $900-1200 cuckbucks a month on meat and fruit alone to avoid inflammation and heal my body. All from my savings. I sold my house in late 2022 and my stack is down immensely in the last two years.

They poisoned me... They poisoned 19 out of 20 aisles of the grocery store for an autoimmune person like me. They poisoned my health. They've drained my wealth. They've taken my livelihood and my normalcy.

When I view the big picture, it all seems so deeply personal. They wanna ban and control meat consumption when it is my only food... They want to stop us from saving in Bitcoin when it has been my literal saving grace... They say they want to close the "escape hatches".

When I tell you that this is the hill I will die on, I fucking mean it. There is no choice for me anymore. I've crossed the Rubicon. I will live free or die.

Another vote for finding a nearby regenerative rancher who sells 1/2 or whole cows. If you're already buying grassfed beef, it's much cheaper. If you're not, it's better quality for what may be around the same price as supermarket meat. (Depends on where you live, obviously, and also how much freezer space you have.)

This breaks my heart, and it makes me sick that I've helped pay for just about everything bad in your post. (Not on purpose, but still...)

Hi beautiful Nostr folks!

I'm excited for this new week. Lots of trees to plant, and this weekend when we visited our favorite nursery I picked up a few extra plants (ha! it's an addiction at this point).

I'm preparing for a concert in a few weeks so it's time for some more serious practicing.

Today: download new parts and get started on them;

plant 4 elderberries, 3 honey locusts, all of our remaining strawberries and small plants;

choose spots for the siberian pea shrubs arriving tomorrow;

lots of teaching this afternoon.
