Violinist and teacher, building a homestead on raw land in between lessons and concerts. Fascinated by how we can develop resilience in our lives, in our families, in our communities. I'm excited about freedom tech and circular economies, and am deeply grateful for the devs and advocates who are helping build tools for a better future.

"Our entire vaccine ecosystem"

Pharma, agencies who get profit from approving pharma products, lobbyists who get paid to push pharma, politicians who get bribes to promote pharma policy, drugstores and hospitals who are dependent on profits and bonuses generated by pharma

yeah, editing genes to lower cholesterol sounds like a terrible idea for several reasons

They are not owed anything, but the government has limits imposed on it by the Constitution. One of those limitations is due process before limiting someone's life or liberty.

Deportation is one thing; shipping directly to a prison in El Salvador is something else entirely.

Without due process, you could be accused of being here illegally and shipped off to a prison in El Salvador and have no chance to plead your case.

Due process is not given to us as a right because we're US citizens. The framers of that document took it as a given that human beings have those rights.

The constitution is a required limitation on government officials. The reason officials swear an oath to it is that *they* are required to follow it, and not apply it selectively.

The constitution is not for citizens; it does not give us rights.

It's a limitation on the power of government. The importance of due process is spelled out in the constitution, which public officials swear an oath to uphold.

We really do not want those folks in the habit of ignoring due process.

Deporting someone is one thing. Shipping them directly to a prison is something else.

You don't need due process to enforce immigration policy.

You do need due process to deprive a human being of liberty.

We tend to forget that US Constitution is a limitation on government, spelling out the ways in which it is supposed to respect natural rights.

I haven't followed the case of the Maryland man, but there's a whole lot of "but they're not US citizens" when it comes to deportation directly to prisons.

Lack of due process is unconstitutional (not to mention immoral); it doesn't matter where someone is from or what they're accused of.

I loved this episode, Jack! Sent it out to several family members.

Yay!! welcome to Nostr, Ross!

goose meat? We just got a few goslings, and within 2 months one of them is pretty much bossing everyone around. It's hilarious. We'll go to the duck coop to find our muscovy ducks - 10x her age and easily twice her size - all huddled together against a wall to give her a wide berth.

But maybe you weren't talking about the animal.
