As someone who has occasionally driven less than reliable vehicles I'd recommend always carrying jumper cables. The little portable battery things seems to let you down when you need them.
BTCpay server is excellent and vesitile. Perhaps it is overkill if you have a narrow use case.
I am currently using BTCpay to receive zaps in a fully self-sovereign non-custodial way.

A pretty heavy lift but if someone really wants full custody and control of their "zapping stack" it can be done with btcpay server.

I did up until about 5 years ago. Even if you do reverse DNS and DKIM and all of that stuff deliverability can still be an issue. You can't easily develop a good reputation for your IP address and frankly, the big email providers are kind of a centralized email cartel. By default if your mail isn't coming from one of the big providers they'll consider your mail as spam.

From the first moment lightning zaps were introduced in Nostr (NIP-57) I was looking for a way how to receive these sats from zaps to my own lightning node. I discovered Ligess and sticked to that when I noticed #[0] was already building a solution for receiving zaps.

I do think the technically minded outside of #Bitcoin will arrive at some point. I don’t see the normies ever coming over though. They value simplicity and convenience above all else and happily depend on centralized platforms to validate identity for them.
IMO not very much. In the Lightning network a small node has potential to route payments. In Nostr the relay is only useful if multiple clients connect. For you and I to see each other's posts we have to be on the same relay. The relays don't talk to each other.
