Having problems testing out nostr:npub1uf9gd9pax7534dy96mu603nqjlp9mht8az73ka0dy54rcfnvlxasumv8xc and we have so few clients to test with. Couldn’t get Coracle or Nostrudel to work, coracle just spent forever adding relays and then failed, while NoStrudel just gave a spin wheel and never requested permission.

I can’t fully commit yet due to not knowing how things are going to line up at our current juncture. However if I am available for this I’d be happy to join in.

Will have to let you know for sure a little later though.

If this is going to be more prevalent and a significant option for connecting to services, then it would be huge if I had some simple drop down or connection button that gave me the necessary string to make those connections.

I just know that if it's a roadblock for me, 99% of users aren't going to deal with it. I know there's massive promise for NWC but its not well integrated into the UX and it definitely could be.

I have my alby wallet extension active and running with multiple nostr clients tied to it (easy single click for all of them) and I couldn't test anything on the website because it would only let me "log in with Alby username and password" which i went through 3 clicks and windows only to find i had to break out my keepass and go hunting for the alby password and user to actually use this. I didn't seem to be able to either pay directly (like sats4ai.com) or just connect to my extension - both of which would've gotten me my test so i could decide whether to commit more to the application.

Sorry but I'm at a point where if its using lightning & nostr but I still have to go through some login process with usernames and passwords to access it, it feels like using nostr makes no sense, because thats the major benefit, imo. I don't have my password manager on this browser for a reason - this is my nostr only browser.

Hope whoever is working on this project sees this, because I'd have been using your product today had it not been for this. And call me lazy or whatever, I just get so annoyed when i have to go through some obnoxious login process that 90% of the time I just close the tab now.

The massive benefit of the pear model is the ability to distribute a file or application to millions of people with ZERO infrastructure cost.

What’s the biggest issue with relays and making a global network with #Nostr? Monetization. Even right now the costs of having a popular relay are very significant. This means that the network can’t “passively” exist at scale, and it’s a huge centralization pressure because nobody will donate $5,000 per month to keep relays running just to help the network.

In the Holepunch alternative, this cost is essentially nonexistent. Every individual feed will act like a live torrent and you simply download from all of the other followers, and they can selectively store old content as they wish and it’s automatically available from those who do.

The more people who join/follow/chat/etc, the faster and more responsive and less costly all of it becomes. Whereas in the relay model, the bigger it gets the more expensive it is and the worse the experience is without aggressive scaling, which means they need money.

In short, the client/server model is a major reason why the internet centralized around platforms. The Holepunch protocol fixes the client/server barrier.

There’s two projects that I am aware of from private conversations and they are both taking a different approach. I don’t want to share things that they don’t want to be public, but all I can say is that they are being built around two very prominent projects that don’t seem like they have much to do with mining pools. However, I suspect/hope both projects will actually be public by the end of the year.

The real issue is more fundamental, the loaned money is indistinguishable from the “real” money. There is no way to root out leverage because it’s systemic to the money itself. If a bank creates a loan and then deposits from thin air, it’s fundamentally impossible to price it separately according to its counter party risk. Bitcoin fixes this
