https://www.themoviedb.org/ has an API for automatically grabbing images and metadata for films. There is a similar TV project too. It's used by projects like Jellyfin, Kodi & Stremio.

https://developer.themoviedb.org/docs/getting-started

I'll check it out most of these require an API key, which sucks cause it gets rate limited, plus we're building a parallel decentralized database anyway.

Works for me just added the metadata for batman the dark knight returns part 2 , did you sign the event after clicking publish? Sometimes the signer doesn't automatically sign new kinds of events.

Metadata is supposed to be manually entered, it doesn't fetch from IMDb , but anyone can do it, not necessarily the reviewer and it prioritizes based on WoT

One of my favorite things is, you can just use the IMDb id to rate any movie, and someone else can add metadata to it, and it just picks metadata according to your WoT ๐Ÿ˜›

I found the stars a bit fiddly. I tried a few times but it won't let me rate 5 stars. Maximum I could go to was 4.8.

It's a bit awkward. But yeah love it.

Will get better! You have to click a little outside the boundary to get 5 , but yes, I'll circle back to it, the next time I touch it

Save everyone from the coming rug pull, you feel morally obligated to save.

Sauce?

Saw it on privacy subreddit, can't find that post again

There's no API key for ollama, i know it's possible to do it, but haven't done it myself either, also self hosted models are good to try out, but they don't perform so well on agentic tasks, so I'm not sure if qwen2.5 will be able to build something decent.

That was not the first and definitely not the last attack. Only the one that is most recent in memory.

Keeping money in your bank account is a high risk investment.

Degoogled a long time ago, deAppled (almost) since they announced apple intelligence.

Ask them for their bank account details, since they obviously have nothing to hide.

Big Tech: KYC is necessary for your security.

Also Big Tech: We accidentally leaked millions of records of all our KYC'd customers data ๐Ÿ™ƒ

De-Google asap.

Anybody tried Linux Phones on here? How's it? How has your experience been?

Use this as your sign to buy a powerful graphics card, you need it more than you think.

It's impossible to buy a non-AI phone in 2025,

and it's absolutely essential to HAVE a non-AI phone in 2025.

We all like being social with people, and we all like the convenience of being able to do it over the internet.

Doesn't mean anyone else has the right to be all up in my business.

Doesn't mean I quit being social.

I have a love/hate relationship with signal.

I love that it's such a good and easy to use tool to onboard people to privacy.

I hate that it's still centrally controlled, and can still rug people.

IMDb does have a habit of manipulating their reviews, an open rating system would be a good thing. But yeah, not the most pressing issue I know, Im just trying to get the word out, not sure what you have against it ๐Ÿ˜‚

Pollerama has censorship resistant movie reviews and no one even knows ๐Ÿ˜›

OpenSats or HRF or someone should have a fund just for some zapping nostr memes ๐Ÿ˜›

I think you can still do rcs with the Google messaging app, and other apps too.

When did you ever have to do that? GraohenOS is just a regular OS with more privacy/security options, you don't HAVE to do anything if you don't want to.

Https was a huge mistake

Getting rid of spam on amethyst:

Security Filters -> Hidden Words -> https://randomuser.me

Trying very hard to ignore this absolutely stupid take. But I can't.

Amethyst is objectively better in terms of security than all the other apps you mentioned, because it doesn't even need your keys to work. All of it's code is open source and built verifiably and signed by the dev. Which means you know that the app that is running on your phone is exactly the one that is coded by the dev.

Something that you can never ensure on apple. And apple apps have been known to almost certainly have Trojans. Read about cocoapods dependency injection.

Hey Nostriches,

Looing for help!

What's the best way to Zap a url?

As part of https://nostr-components.web.app, we are building a zap buttons, that can be embedded in any website.

Think each wordpress post (or any url), gets a zap button.

Looking for some thoughts on what's the right way to do this?

1. Nip-57 says add a #e tag to tag to a event, rather than a person. (Says nothing about external URL)

Combine this with Nip-73 event, that refers to the url using #i tag and #k tag (web)

So for first zap to a URL, I create a Nip-73 event with the url in #i tag and zap to that event.

2. As Nip-24 suggest, just add a #r tag directly to the Zap event (kind: 9734) Looks much simpler.

3. Or is there any better way?

Thanks!

Tagging (/spamming) people for reach :-)

#asknostr #needhelp

It doesn't matter just add any tag with the url to your zap request and you're fine.

Wake me up when the knots/core debate ends

Lol. Nostr is whatever you want it to be. For those that need it to be a privacy tool. It works, right now, wether you like it or not.

Also why can't it be a public protocol AND a privacy tool? That's exactly what TOR is, what is this artificial mutual exclusivity you're building up?

but anyways, what do I know, I've not been slaving away at this protocol and it's privacy aspects for years now.
