It didn’t work.
Humbled? Contented? Satisfied?
Good night, #Nostr. I’m wiped out. Sleep well all.
Very interesting interview with the CEO of ShakePay a Canadian Bitcoin company. 2 year old interview.
Not easy starting a company in any country that challenges the corrupt banking system. Banks make it hard so you need lots of money to play in their field.

The Internet was and still is a great enabler. It helped to erode the power held by the relative few for a long time. #Bitcoin will do the same thing but for those looking to be part of the future economic systems that they’ve more or less been shut out of for a long time. These are historic times that I don’t think a lot of people appreciate. Maybe in a few hundred years they’ll refer to this time period as the start of the plebeian period where the common man rose up and took power back from the few who wished to control all.

Marathon Digital’s Fred Thiel explains how #Bitcoin can be used to offset the $35T US national debt and how nation states will be competing over #BTC power projection as a sovereign reserve asset❗️
Not owning Bitcoin is a threat to National Security. Softwar thesis in play!
This came from Crypto Trading Reports on Telegram. https://video.nostr.build/23d5855f7372856450d286319e4804b3403837540e60e703d664d8e7b1c0e60e.mp4
You’re absolutely, right. We are NOT going to be able to reach everyone. And you know what? That’s fine. This ecosystem isn’t here to force our views on everyone else. It’s to allow the free expression of one’s self, at least within societal norms, that can’t be censored or restricted by some overarching governmental or corporate entity. #Bitcoin is meant to provide an alternative means of exchanging value with others without a government or corporate entity telling us with whom, when and how much we can transact. Nothing in it is meant to force anyone to the table or to come around to our way of doing things. #Bitcoin and #Nostr don’t care. If you want to play, come on in. If you don’t, no worries or hard feelings. It’s literally that simple.
With that said, not everyone will come here with pure intent to #Nostr. For instance, I don’t want to see a bunch of child porn, or porn at all really, on here. I’m a God-fearing man who is married to a God-fearing woman and we have a bunch of kids. We attend church weekly. God is a central part of our lives in many of the things we do. We don’t believe that exposing our kids to other people being exploited is in anybody’s best interests. However, don’t get the idea that we’re by any means perfect. We’re far from it. I actually don’t know for sure what can be removed from #Nostr, but it seems like pictures are hosted on an external hosting service so those can probably be removed. There is a “report” button where a post can be reported. I have no idea what happens when that button is pressed. I think the #Nostr relays might be able to control which other relays they connect to such that if there are a few “bad actor” relays then they can be dealt with in some way, but it’s probably not as simple as a button to ban someone like in a centralized service. I think that having a completely open and unmanaged system can only lead to chaos eventually, and I think there are some things that can be done to help police the place, but if a government or corporation wants to detain someone or threaten someone or censor someone then I don’t think this is practical. Who are they going to threaten or detain? Given the decentralized nature of the network, good luck. It’s not always going to be sunshine and roses for decentralization, but the collective “we” will figure it out, and by the looks of it we’ve got an amazing system here that seems to be succeeding.
I ran into this recently at an auto repair shop. But the difference between you and me is I wasn’t quick enough on the draw to bring up #Bitcoin. I just pulled out my debit card instead and paid that way.
He seems very intrigued by the idea of #Bitcoin.
It would be pretty amazing to be there, but I am here now and that’s just fine. nostr:note1ps9vvwk8fe28u2du386895zm5rfrxp2sjjkv0zyuut0vex30m7lqfkapgw

I hadn’t really thought of it this way. Yes, I know Bitcoin is different and not out for the benefit of the privileged few, but I don’t think I would have explained it this way.
The thing about buzzwords is spot on, I think. I was just talking about AI and SDN (software defined networking) as buzzwords the other day with someone. It makes a lot of sense that Bitcoin outsiders would see Bitcoin as a buzzword and, thus, not take it seriously.
I’ve been championing Bitcoin lately to friends and family, and many probably think I’ve gone off the rails. One called it a Ponzi scheme. Another called it vaporware. This seems to be a common theme that I’ve heard from others pushing Bitcoin. Most importantly, though, my wife seems to be coming around to Bitcoin.
It feels different for sure.
Very true. There are many God-less people running around aimlessly searching for some sort of meaning.. desperately trying to create meaning in their lives, not knowing how to do it. Possessions often take the place of God in their lives. These things do not make us happier. Slowly but surely these possessions end up weighing us down more and more, restricting us. We have to house, move, store, take care of, heat or cool, and power these things. The things end up owning us instead of us owning the things. It’s an insidious racket that we’ve been taught to embrace even if indirectly.
It really is.
Good luck prying my #Bitcoin out of my cold, dead hands.
