My hair is now long enough that I can tie it up in a knot-bun, without any paraphernalia, and that feels like a milestone. It's normally still too short for that, but wavy hair is magic ✨.

Also fun to stick a pencil or a chopstick through it. Or do a band-free ponytail.

I only use a bit of shampoo on the roots, every few days, and it's never been this nice, before. It's a bit too late, for my hair to be this nice, tho. Anticlimactic.

But I love brushing that heavy mane. Swish. Swish. Swish. I just brush and brush and brush...

And then I tie it back up, to keep it a bit secret. Wearing it down looks best, but makes me feel oddly exposed.

Yea I grew up having my hair bleached... I literally thought I was just blonde. Nah my mom wanted me blonde. Had to cut it all off when I was 18 there was so much damage it wasn't salvageable 😭

I did henna for a little bit, that made my hair glorious but it was such a pain in the butt that I just keep it all natural now. And yes white streaks for me too since COVID. I'm framing it as a good thing though, one day I'll be the wild old lady with way too much hair 💖

Some good friends of ours are interracial. It's nothing to put the marriage at risk, but there are unique challenges, a benign one being an extraordinary hair care routine. The African and European genes apparently fight each other and produce hair that needs care totally different than either parent is used to, making for a 2-hour routine needed weekly.

in fact, as a kid i got a lot of mild lacerations, sometimes quite severe, from skateboarding. i never did anything about it, except if it wouldn't stop bleeding. healed up just fine in a few days and then itchy and scabs fall off.

i wouldn't advise this in general, really you should always wash a bleeding wound thoroughly, and apply disinfectant, and seal it up and bandage over it. plastic is actually better, doesn't stick to the blood, but after giving myself a good minor vein cut last year i always keep bandages, band-aids and gauze and antiseptic cream in the house. on that occasion i had to rip up a shirt and use plastic while i went to pick up those supplies. it was pretty bad, i was starting to go into shock from the blood loss.

so i make it a rule now. in fact i really should make a small pack for my backpack when i go on big walks. just haven't really been fit enough to tackle the terrain here, most places i ever lived were not nearly as rugged.

The thing that comple destroyed my hair was bleaching. I've had to just deal and lean into the black-hair/blue-eyes combo and get over trying to be trendy.

i've been more leaving my hair down when i first get up in the morning but it is often too windy to be practical outdoors so i tie it in a pigtail. it's also a hassle in bed because your back pulls on it, so i have to lift my head and pull it back behind me. it's also a hassle when i'm really sweaty after a long walk outside in sunny weather and sticks to my back.

but i like having it long, always wanted to have long hair in a ponytail and when i'm feeling more proud i tie it up higher. occasionally i make it into pigtails when i'm feeling particularly weird. i probably will eventually get into plaiting it later, seems quite practical for heavy physical activity. certainly if i am working with machines like drills and saws i probably will do the man-bun to avoid getting it in teh machine and sawing my face off lol.

BUT if you don’t want future plausible deniability then you can just sign all your events with your private key nostr style (assuming someone builds out such a client). That's totally an option on the protocol. You have keys at your disposal for whatever you want, same as nostr, want a client that's fully atomic then just a matter of building it.

But it does feel pretty empowering to have that plausible deniability. You want to be able to say it wasn’t me if it actually wasn’t you (your account was hacked) and sometimes you want to be able to say it wasn’t me when it actually was you.

There is no elite in a free world. This is the point. Elites are the ones able to rob the others without suffering any consequences because of democracy who legitimize theft.

On Pubky you have control in the sense that only what's found on your home-server can be considered yours, as in cryptographically linked to you. And you can edit and delete stuff on your home-server at anytime. (Unless you use some future client that signs every note nostr style, but that's not the default way of going about things.)

In terms of read access to your stuff you certainly could control that on Pubky, since the place where things are being read from is your homeserver, not some relay outside of your grasp.

Pubky offers both strong censorship resistance and a high degree control, the trade off is that it didn't emerge from the same sort of quantum soup as nostr, so it's much more managed, at least for now.

10k sats per month might be doable.

I'm sorry of you mean me sending the same video over when you look at conversations. That video was a warning in 2003 about todays day & age. My own note on my wall doesn't seem to reach out as much as me commenting on each person & showing the video. I've had a greater reach commenting people it.

It will be getting publishing, but it's primarily a CMS / online magazine. Those are real webpages.

It's a way to use longform notes to create a website, but it also has the typical author feeds.

I noticed. Endorsing content you like and people you trust is a powerful tool. Your followers doing this (interacting with your main profile) is the reason your content reaches me, and why we have all sorts of interactions despite not following each other directly.

They stop following you, your content stops reaching my feed (and vice-versa unless you are using one of the indirect ways to keep up with me mentioned above).

There has to be a way to solve Nostr’s cultural issue of “degrees of separation and endorsement from Jack / Odell / Derek / Lyn / Will, etc.” as a measure visibity without burning down the social graph and scorching the earth behind us.

My hypothesis is that we need a culture of more intentional following like what you're advocating for, but with proper ownertrust-style tools. I've asked around and a lot of people want to “follow that one person who produces crappy content we’re all embarrassed by, but we still love them regardless”. So kind 3 is better than nothing but not sufficient for WoT.

My main problem is how to bake in that intentionality in a way that’s accessible and fun instead of recreating a dumbed-down version of the PGP Web of Trust experience. It’s definitely an interesting research problem, one I don't have an immediate answer for, unfortunately.
