Agreed on all points. However, mining has become a difficult business, especially in the last 5 years or so. As with any industry, the miners that started early are likely successful and profitable.

The decision to be made is to be a hobby or business, with the clear difference being profit. We always encourage learning and experimentation, but it is unlikely a typical person, starting in 2023, would have a successful business in mining given the level of competition there is, and the longevity of existing mining companies. The typical person, spending a significant up front investment of equipment, learning and electricity is competing with entire mining farms, and some governments (who can print fiat currency to pay electricity bills).

With non kyc bitcoin, the most popular exchange, bisq, is a good idea. However, the most popular methods of exchanging bitcoin, last we checked, are through kyc companies like Revolut and Zelle. The former methods of prepaid gift cards are less and less and less common.

So even if a person wanted to use bisq to acquire non kyc bitcoin, the most popular exchange methods on bisq are kyc services. Please let us know if you agree or disagree, as we encounter this very topic frequently.

Purism has great ideas with products, but why is privacy such a high priority on a tablet device? For most people, tablets are not production devices. A disciplined security conscious user would put no identifying information on a tablet, save for ebooks, possibly movies.

If these features are such a priority, one can easily purchase an affordable laptop, customized with the proper level of security.

Purism is taking the trend to be a "one stop shop" offering every type of service and device, yet we've never seen or heard of anyone using these devices except in review videos.

Also, there are option options, such as the BOOX tablets.

Do Europeans really expect privacy from a government that created worldcoin?

Would you explain what a privacy domain is?

If one desires privacy when running a website, there are providers who respect privacy and take various forms of payment without requiring people to provide identifying details.

Even if someone does not like gold and silver as money, bitcoiners must understand its purpose. It was also the best technology we had at that time. Gold and silver was selected by the free market to be money, not just in America, but the world. This was decided back when the people controlled the government, not vice versa.

A CBDC will be inevitable, if people do not understand history, they will be doomed to repeat it. Doomed to repeat it.

"No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation; grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal; coin Money; emit Bills of Credit; make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts; pass any Bill of Attainder, ex post facto Law, or Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts, or grant any Title of Nobility."

This clause underscores the importance of gold and silver coin as the only forms of legal tender that states within the United States are permitted to recognize when settling debts. It reflects the framers' desire to establish a stable and uniform system of currency, preventing individual states from issuing their own paper money or using alternative forms of payment that could potentially disrupt the nation's financial stability.

You're welcome. The discussion about bitcoin/monero is always an interesting one. With people just starting to learn, it is a great way to refresh one's own knowledge explaining the fundamentals of how something works.

Please let us know if you would like to discuss further.

You should email proton directly about that, or read their privacy policy. We can offer an opinion, and will tag proton to weigh in.

Proton's policies are very different than most companies that collect data. The main point, at least to our understanding, is the blatant selling and sharing of customer data. If they are being honest, they are using whatever data they do collect to create better service, properly identify customers, and secure sensitive personal information from employees, in case they get a rogue employee one day.

Ultimately, if you feel Proton is not being genuine, you have to weigh the lesser of the evils.

What private information does Proton actually have about you? If it is minimal, such as an alias name, paying with bitcoin, or a private credit card, then fingerprinting your browser is not invasive at all. Especially if you use something like Firefox with containers. There is a difference between being anonymous and invisible.

Your screenshot is from the Tor browser, which has extensive privacy and security. So the tiny bit of information gleaned from a browser fingerprint would not leave you vulnerable.

We would actually like to hear Proton's response to this nostr:npub1mea2vwcu06qf7e4x00wd902vj54qnn2jacq76ldntrgfhtvhlpqqrvqane@`Proton VPN / @Proton...`

"In the pursuit of a noble cause, one need not beckon followers; rather, let the brilliance of purpose be the beacon that draws hearts and minds to its luminous path."

Unfortunately, most people do not care about privacy until it is violated. We never recommend connecting a phone to a vehicle, as heretical as that sounds. The convenience is outweighed by the huge privacy implications. People will not understand until Ford has the inevitable data breach.

Ironic to expect privacy from anything related to Google. There are plenty of other options available.

We created an entire free, self guided course on privacy and security. Also, you can reach out directly if you have a specific situation you'd like to talk about.

My background and experience give me a unique advantage to work with people who need help. Unfortunately, many people can prevent unwanted attention in the first place by taking a few simple steps. Also, unfortunate, is most people do not care about privacy until it has been violated.

"Any pathway towards a more ethical world needs to involve equal footing. We cannot put the state on an elevated pedestal, period. We cannot put the state on an elevated pedestal as a premise to these debates. And so, once we take for granted that all parties are equal, then the question is, why should you get to have insight in my financial history? Why should I get to have insight in your financial history?"

This brief snippet of audio brings up several main points of the bitcoin/monero conversation.

Clips like this unfortunately come off as clickbait, as the monero maximalists always defer to the easy "bitcoin is a surveillance coin" argument. Obviously, one of the easiest ways to get people to listen to a monero podcast is to trash bitcoin.

Advancing the conversation does not seem in the interest of either party, where people can be educated on the pros and cons of both currencies, and not focus on which one is "better."

Monero is a good currency. The value is obviously privacy. However, the classification as a shitcoin is from bitcoin maximalists.

If you would like a more thorough explanation of this, please let us know. But we can offer a brief examination.

Bitcoin maximalists are so for several reasons. So, by definition, anything else is a shitcoin. But maximalism of any sort, is generally not a good idea. A good crypto currency user will understand that monero serves a different purpose than bitcoin.

With the main feature of monero being privacy by default, as opposed to bitcoin's transparency by default, bitcoiners have to follow a few more steps to be as private as monero. This alone deters many folks.

Studying both currencies will only strengthen you. If we can offer one though, it would be the tried and true: you can spend in monero, but save in bitcoin.

We believe privacy is free, easy and convenient...and available at this very moment. The catalyst is a change in mindset. The education required is minimal, but often, it is more productive to surround oneself with like minded people.

We created a free, self guided course for this very reason at https://deltacharlie.tech/

We created a free, self guided course for citizens to use to protect their privacy and security better. We also frequently take calls, often pointing people in the right direction or providing a "quick fix" for those "quick questions."

The first step is completely free, which is changing someone's mindset.

The technical details of hacking devices, installing extensions, add-ons, plugins, can be done later, and are of less importance. If the person does not change their mindset, all the technology in the world will not help them against surveillance, it will only accelerate and proliferate it.

Monero is a great currency for private transfers, under very specific circumstances. However, before getting to that point, fundamental knowledge should be built, so as to set the right expectations of privacy with Monero.

Google is a surveillance company. As such, people should not expect any privacy when using their services. Many alternatives exist, both free and paid.

Google, as a tech giant, operates in a landscape where privacy expectations should be tempered. It thrives on data collection, creating personalized experiences and targeted ads. Its services, while convenient, often come at the cost of user privacy. Users should be cautious and aware that Google, at its core, is a data-driven company, constantly tracking and analyzing user activities. In this digital age, maintaining privacy requires conscious choices and understanding the extent to which companies like Google collect and utilize personal information.

Citizens that attempt to take legal action against companies that have more power than governments, like Google, have very noble intentions, but rarely accomplish the mission.

The most efficient way to resolve this issue is simply opt out. A mass exodus from Google would be more effective than any legal action that only ends up consuming time and resources.

Protection against this kind of surveillance is possible, and freely available. A mental shift is required first, as most devices today are set to collect data.

The easiest way to prevent this in cars is not to connect devices to it. Also, drivers can make the details of their ownership private. The bits of data that actually do end up being collected by Nissan would be negligible.

We have a strategy called Device Optimization. We include vehicles as a device, just like your phone, router, Ring doorbell, etc. Your car is just a computer that you drive.

Eventually, vehicles will collect biometric data, such as weight, BAC, heart rate, and send it to your auto insurance in real time. With a CBDC, your auto insurance can raise or lower your insurance rates in real time, per the government protocols.
