I finally posted the analysis from the first run of my Valter Longo Inspired Cancer Avoidance Fast. It is a pretty dry analysis of changes in various biomarkers, how I felt, what I may change when I do it again in the future, etc. If you are expecting miraculous results you'll be disappointed. I wasn't expecting them nor did I get them. This is about a relatively small and easy (for me) intervention that I'm hoping can potentially reduce my overall risk of getting cancer when done once or twice a year. #ValterLongo #fasting #CancerAvoidanceFast #longevity #fitness

nostr:npub16ep8k9u2272n5ym6t44s6kgwg5g0snztfw0dmy92pxg8zekzdfcqe8gyvh They point out that the E coli problem is mostly in greens now but the main driver of that is the runoff from CAFOs getting into the irrigation water for the veggie crops. The whole thing is frustratingly idiotic.

WTF was I thinking watching this during dinner...only dumber thing is hearing this industry person saying the industry can regulate itself when it is very clear it cannot and will not. Oh and as usual a substantial amount of the problem, like so many things, is modern industrial animal agriculture and hyper-consolidation of industry. #food #agriculture #FoodSafety

I started my 30 day fitness reboot challenge at the end of April because of various biomarkers that were in unacceptable ranges, because I didn't like how inflexible and weak I felt, and because I was running out of even "big clothes" that would fit. Now, with three weeks left of a longer term fat loss and fitness tuning goal that the reboot challenge kicked off not only are the biomarkers I can measure directly way better, and my fitness level across the board is in a place where it hasn't been in several years, but also I'm starting to fit into "small" clothes that haven't fit me since the last time I really had my fitness dialed in for an extended amount of time. That was ten years ago. I am very energized by this. I'm hoping my blood work at the end shows improvements on the other biomarkers I wasn't happy with. #fitness #longevity #GoalAccountability

nostr:npub1skwg88tqpmudx3zt4tlgj3zxf0nmm0d04tfvzqdpyq3c9kpm3hysnm2wyd I'm still a bit gobsmacked at the realization that Interstellar was made a decade ago. Yikes!

I'd heard stories about the #Peloton app dying on external runs. My first run over one hour and it did just that. As much as I liked having all my workout data in that one place and the way they strike a balance in gamification of their goal challenges etc, I think I'm going to have to abandon using it for run/walk tracking. It was wonky in other ways too: heart rate connecting to Apple Watch quirks, distance quirks, UI not great. There is an app called RunGap that will allow me to extract the data from Apple Health if I go back to using Apple Fitness/Health for tracking. It seems to work pretty well and only costs $10 a year. Hopefully that fixes it. I have thoughts on replacing/augmenting the gamification but I need to ruminate on them more. #running #fitness #apple #AppleHealth #RunGap

nostr:npub1agua0nvwdckv9kv5uggc2am4du0jyuu5kdxcf7us7ja5g753qz5s39j0sk i did like Dunkirk and interstellar. I did see Oppenheimer, I'll reserve my opinion on that for now

nostr:npub1skwg88tqpmudx3zt4tlgj3zxf0nmm0d04tfvzqdpyq3c9kpm3hysnm2wyd Interstellar I thought was okay. I haven't felt the urge to watch it again but I'm glad I saw it.

Poor #NYTPitchBot can't out-satire the NYT and the rest of the supposedly liberal MSM anymore can he? It's beyond pathetic at this point. #satire #uspoli

nostr:npub1agua0nvwdckv9kv5uggc2am4du0jyuu5kdxcf7us7ja5g753qz5s39j0sk thank you for the response! I’m a bit familiar with Valter Longo’s stance on intermittent fasting. I will look into both resources you mentioned. Thoughts on Built to Move by the Starretts about exercise program building?

nostr:npub10mnxev58h0knzxyvz27pn0ayahuq5d2pl0svgytk8rkc0pyx89tq679pun I'm not familiar with it at all. I'll have to look into it. Ironically I have Kelly's "Becoming a Supple Leopard" book on my bookshelf for many years and never did more than flip through it. It looks like this may be a more approachable version of that based on my initial glances. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

nostr:npub1skwg88tqpmudx3zt4tlgj3zxf0nmm0d04tfvzqdpyq3c9kpm3hysnm2wyd Yeah out of all his directing credits the only movies I really liked were Batman Begins and Dunkirk. I haven't had a chance to see Oppenheimer yet. If you throw up his credits with producer roles then you can add Man of Steel to it as well.

nostr:npub1m2tcxd9nhm4l5uk775qs4ggv4yj70yw49zus29nrk9sd2zk7xmvqkcgvf2 The one thing the media covers more poorly than science stories, which is generally pretty piss poor, is the whole potential length of a prison sentence.

nostr:npub1k250vjwspxhw7f4zfkzwgan3j9ehemh0vdc5gpkf6y4eeetzzmds90nv29 Before reading it I thought to myself, "I bet this is that old Irish indentured servants BS talking point." Yup! TL;DR You had indentured servitude to pay off debts etc. for a very set period of time. It was not some scarlet letter that followed you around beyond that, didn't extend to your offspring, you couldn't be involuntarily sold off into it, and you couldn't be rounded up and forced into it because you look like a poor Irish/German/whatever person that had that as their default status. That's just the main points of why the argument is fallacious. Again, IOW, it is a BS talking point.

nostr:npub1agua0nvwdckv9kv5uggc2am4du0jyuu5kdxcf7us7ja5g753qz5s39j0sk can you recommend other books / sources that cover the left out actionable info that makes sense for those not paying for “Medicine 3.0?”

nostr:npub10mnxev58h0knzxyvz27pn0ayahuq5d2pl0svgytk8rkc0pyx89tq679pun I think Valter Longo's Longevity Diet is pretty good for that. Although it is very Alzheimer's specific in its title "The Alzheimer's Solution" by Dean Sherzai and Ayesha Sherzai has a lot of good actionable things for longevity in general as well. None of these books get into the physical exercise program building though. They just state overall targets for amount per week of various categories of exercise.
