Indeed. Those are quite good.
I'm getting numb to it.
I accept zaps once a day because it's so cumbersome, but Nostr clients can't handle it very well. It'll look like the zap never happened until I accept it. Super awful UX really
It's probably because I'm trying Zeus again and it requires me to accept the payment in the app. Otherwise it'll cancel after 24 hours. It's actually a good concept, but it's confusing if your wallet just sits there and waits without telling you what's happening. It drove me nuts until I figures this out.
There may be an opportunity for improvement in the UI, because I've had this happen several times. Would be cool if Amethyst had a way of setting a timer for all notes that adds a flag or something saying a note is older than the specified time (similar to what you see on some online articles when they become outdated).

I appreciate that.
I've found that I'm okay with just missing stuff. It feels a lot like "living in the moment." I generally just scroll through the newest notes while I'm on and then dip. As a result, the amount of time it takes up is more limited. The platforms would queue things in such a way that I'd stay on longer. To be fair, that was my own lack of discipline. But they also dial in on parts of our humanity that make it maximally difficult to walk away. The discipline bar is a lot lower for me with how I use Nostr.
Guess I'm an accidental prick then lol It happens. nostr:nprofile1qqsrkl7gyds37xh2af37uwlknvjm32ska3hgr5d0cwgzdqy0ux2r2ncppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0qy2hwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnyv9kh2uewd9hj7qgawaehxw309ahx7um5wgknqv3w09skk6tgdahxuefwvdhk6tcfpgktr
That's a good point and focusing so much on that aspect of this story is probably harmful for adoption since it discourages spending. Spend and replace/earn would mostly solve this issue over time anyway.
To me, the bigger part of the story should be that Bitcoin was used to buy a good or service.
Didn't realize this was so old when I started commenting. But whatever. Sorry if anyone's views have changed since.
I've never seen nostr:nprofile1qqsyawyrzrttfmv4cmtx5w2m85702kdct7hv3amfrkhagpdf9cz46mgprpmhxue69uhkv6tvw3jhytnwdaehgu3wwa5kuef0qyghwumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytnhd9hx2tcpydmhxue69uhkv6tvw3jhytnwdaehgu3wwa5kuef08ankcmmzv9kr6ctvds20l3q3 scam anyone on Nostr. I've only ever seen good intentioned contributions.
This is unfair. nostr:nprofile1qqsyawyrzrttfmv4cmtx5w2m85702kdct7hv3amfrkhagpdf9cz46mgprpmhxue69uhkv6tvw3jhytnwdaehgu3wwa5kuef0qyghwumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytnhd9hx2tcpydmhxue69uhkv6tvw3jhytnwdaehgu3wwa5kuef08ankcmmzv9kr6ctvds20l3q3 has been a valuable and good intentioned Nostr contributor for my entire time on Nostr. I don't agree with her on every single point, but she doesn't deserve that sort of attitude. I don't think Monero or its users/team is out to scam or hurt anyone. Not that I've seen.
This word can also be a weapon, such as when moral relativists use it to suggest that anyone who isn't a moral relativist is a bigot. And you can almost see moral relativism in the definition. Reading it, I can imagine times when being a bigot would be a good thing.
It's difficult to use this word fairly or in a way that doesn't make the user a bigot by the definition in some cases. Plus, unreasonable is subjective. It's a vague term that gets used too loosely too often, but the definition is largely to blame for that.
Lol My Pixel 7a got through a whole day (minus Pokey) until I put Zeus on it. Now I have to do the heinous act of charging my phone for an hour toward the end of the day. It's so horrible.
I'm retarded. It's right in the post lol
I'm running all of that except Pokey. Need to figure out what that is 💥
I agree that UX on most of these tools can be a lot better. Even Monero back when I used it. It's probably gotten better like Bitcoin stuff though. None of it is perfect.
I guess I don't really care if all of the components aren't packed into a single layer. I think that has downsides too.
But one thing I agree with Monero people on wholeheartedly is that noobs should know the limitations of Bitcoin privacy.
This is the crux of what I'm trying to figure out. Are there Bitcoin compatible tools that already give me privacy without using Monero? I don't care if they work differently.
But this is why I use self-custody instead of Strategy. For me, escaping this kind of bullshit is the whole point.
So I actually don't fully understand their entire structure. I may be missing a point as a result. The biggest risk I see if if they need more debt than they're worth in Bitcoin to stay solvent and can't get the debt. If that's the point, then I agree they're fucked if one of several things happen. I was under the impression they were paying debt back for free and clear Bitcoin. While risky, I imagine they'll walk away with Bitcoin.
Strategy to me is much like the investment companies that shorted the housing market in 2008 and got fiat rich. The difference is that Strategy will get Bitcoin rich. People were using leverage to short housing too. He's just shorting fiat. You could say those companies did nothing, but that's only true if you remove the fact that they did exactly what they aimed to do.
It does what he wants it to do. Other people are investing in it because it does what they want it to do.
You may be applying your own philosophy onto a company as a value judgement. A company is merely a legal structure for cooperating people who have a specific goal. It doesn't need to DO anything other than whatever those people want it to do.
I agree that it's only possible within the context of a fucked up fiat system, but that's just reality. I also agree the model would go away with a Bitcoin world. But they'll still have the Bitcoin they bought. That's my main point. They may get no more, but they already have a huge amount. The company will have served its purpose and dissolve I suppose.
We came in at the same time and I'm not sure he will. He simply may not share the same values. At least not as a company man. He may privately with his own Bitcoin if he has any.
It seems part of his branding at this point. I imagine most of his shareholders aren't like me.
What does he need to do? His company already has a large portion of the supply.
28 because I run an unreasonable amount of shit in the background lol

Does #Nostr have a limit for the amount of data contained within a note? Is that a relay issue?
I heard two things today that changed my perspective:
nostr:nprofile1qqsg86qcm7lve6jkkr64z4mt8lfe57jsu8vpty6r2qpk37sgtnxevjcpz4mhxue69uhkummnw3ex2mrfw3jhxtn0wfnsz9rhwden5te0wfjkccte9ehx7um5wghxyecpr3mhxue69uhkummnw3ezucnfw33k76twv4ezuum0vd5kzmqug4hxr: Spend time on the ethical solutions, even if they aren't perfect.
I try to do this in my own way, but I can do more. Noted and in the pipeline.

#Bitcoin and #Nostr are already good to me. Defending freedom for humans is going to require work forever. I'll do it until I die, and hopefully inspire someone else to do the same after I'm gone.

Does it really matter? It seems to me all you're doing is making fee calculations off for yourself. The miners can still mine them.
Because who wouldn't? Lol
No. My internet speed should have no effect on old posts loading anyway. They shouldn't load automatically on any connection in my opinion. It's inefficient for storage and bandwidth unless I specifically choose to load them.
The confusing thing is that I didn't even have the app on this phone as far back as some of the posts. That could explain the massive amount of data it uses though.

A great reminder that algorithms as a concept are amoral. They absolutely have been weaponized, but they can also be yielded for good. This excites me and will be the primary achievement of Nostr in my opinion.
