😮🤯😅

can wagyu also be 100% grass-fed? 🤔

We sell all our tallow every week , especially the smoked tallow we make .. pure Akashi Wagyu tallow is the way .

Lol

Callnote - where do you sell it?

Fredericksburg TX

Gunna make me google stuff on my day off 😮‍💨

Internet is unstoppable

You bought a pallet right?!

A good sign but I don’t trust the quality of food at Costco. I only go for the cleaning products, cheap gas, and alcohol.

Oui Chef!

presumably u bought the pallet.

Their procurement dept is beyond world class. I think it and they stock it.

what are the ingredients?

Don’t even ask what, just how many dozens

I’m guessing it’s “tallow” with 11 seed oils and 35 preservatives mixed in so… not tallow

Lol...beef fat

it would be a great surprise if that was truly the only ingredient…

If you want pure fat, take a look at Epic. They have Duck fat, lard and tallow. That's where I get my duck fat.

duck fat is amazing. currently have a good beef tallow provider but must add duck fat

I got a duck fat spray. Sprayed it on a hot pan, the fireball burned my eyebrow off.

Nothing to do with the duck fat. Most likely the propellant used in the can.

I love duck fat. It's all I cook with.

Vibe shift! Costco has their ear to the ground! MAHA!

How much for that jar? Something like this would be probably too expensive in Europe. I sometimes see simmilar and it’s like 4x more expensive than “regular” (but still pasture raised) czech beef tallow.

I usually get tallow from from a local farmer (but “local” like 300km away… so I have to plan ahead) and it’s suprisingly cheap.

Whole pallet is amazing

What's tallow?

Beef fat

Great.. 😃😃👍

Bring back animal fats 💪

We keep winning 🫡

Great signal of changing consumer demand and hope grocery stores and restaurants follow!

Is wagyu talllow significantly better than regular cattle?

Gimmick

I figured grass fed is probably the most important attribute

I would tend to agree but I have heard reliable people in the carnivore/nutrition/regenerative agriculture space who say that grass fed is not critical, just potentially a little more beneficial. I’m making up numbers here but just getting off the standard American diet and onto a seed oil free, whole foods diet gets you like 80% of the way there. I personally went carnivore to get the rest of the way but I have not prioritized grass fed so maybe I still have a few percentage points I could improve

“Seed Oil Free” stamps are coming soon

omg whaaaaaa

Seeing them sell Gold Bars was indeed a signal.

bleached?

For those interested, this is sourced from 100% New Zealand grass fed Wagyu beef.

Actually decent.

Although I have no idea how sustainable this can be. Even if every Costco in the US got 1 pallet, the supply can't last long.

Tallow FTW 🙌

LFG

My Costco needs to wake up

Love tallow

Mine doesn’t have it yet. I was just there.

The motherload

At this rate Costco will be the first major big box retailer to accept Bitcoin.

Wtf!

Organic Ghee too fren!

Stay humble and stack tallow…..

I'm wondering how much of an impact the frying tallow revolution is going to have on biodiesel 😅

fun fact before they realised you could run a diesel engine on a petroleum byproduct (which was named diesel after the engine) all diesel fuel was biodiesel.

when they figured out you could use a petroleum byproduct to run a diesel engine they decided to put the seed oils into food instead of using them as fuel(because telling the subsidized canola farmers to stop growing canola wasn't an option, it would have destroyed the global economy)

so now we are all eating diesel fuel and engine lubricants in our food while burning toxic substances for fuel.

It turned out that tallow makes a better quality food for machines too... so will refineries retool for a less efficient corn based BD or will they retool to clean used tallow? That's my question.

I hate to keep saying this, but the Overton Window has clearly shifted… and quickly.

i wish my country was more based

What exactly is this??

beef fat

What are the best ways to use it?

I see, like melted butter (ghee)?

Nah tallow is made from rendering down the fat from the meat.

It's kinda similar to coconut oil but made from animal fat

Okay, I see now. Thanks

render beef fat at home for a fraction of the cost. real proof of work

I made some vac sealed fresh grass fed Tallow portions 7grams. Giving these to my co-workers to try out this week.

Tell them it is a white chocolate cup

How can I be one of your coworkers? Haha

I had the same question 🤭

To eat or for their face?

Everyone needs a coworker like ChiefWhite 🫡

I wonder how a chocolate bar mold would go?

Just snap a square off.

Hey Brisket, yeah that could work well for sure, maybe ill have to give that a go! Packaging might be more appealing as well.

I had used some silicone molds in the past and made 2gram 'chiplets', but it was very annoying to pop them all out and have to handle them. I was digging my hand in my bag of chiplets each time I used them.

These ones i used paper souffle portion cups so ease of use and handling. I seared a couple large ribeyes last night with (1) 7gram portion and it worked just great.

I keep mine in jars at room temp so I just pull some out with a knife when I need some. I'm in zone 10b so it never gets that cold inside.

Jars are heavy & fragile for sending via the post though. I'd never thought of pouring the tallow into a mould until I saw yours.

Been waiting for mine to sell. Check every time I’m there. Soon

I have a love/hate relationship with this. Love that everyone might start using it. Hate that it will drive up prices. 🫤

I don't remember a time when supermarkets didn't sell tallow..

maybe some small grocery stores don't stock it but all the large ones do.

always have.

tallow isn't new, it's made from rendering down animal fat.

If you are looking for a good source, South Chicago Packing sells great Tallow & Lard. On Amazon.

I get plenty of lard from bacon, etc., but find tallow to be a bit more hassel, so I just buy now.

I’m pretty sure they been selling it. Also Costco is great, they sell a lot of good stuff

Costco has all kinds of great stuff? I just noticed this three days ago.

🙏🏼

You’ll never see this in the UK. It’s even more ironic that those tallow must be used for fish and chips. Instead, seed oils are used.

I love Costco. Did you know that Juneau Alaska has the smallest Costco that exists

I've learned what tallow is thanks to you today.

If it were primarily used as food like lard, I would have known about it much earlier..🤔

Where the hell did they do with all of this tallow prior to it gaining popularity again?

How long can it be stored?

But is it suet or just general beef fat. The suet on a grass fed cow is 2-3lbs whereas a grain finished cow is 40lbs
