I think it's not on F-Droid. A lot of apps lie about being open source and have no available releases with reproducible source code these days, so I'm not downloading it from some trash app store.

You also have me muted, even though I always respected you in the past and once zapped you 48k sats for your work on apps I couldn't even use at the time as a non Apple fanboy.

Might be good to fix these issues before expecting me to try the app

you should of been skeptical of apple lovers right from the beginning

I was, but the guy invented the npub/nsec format so I gave benefit of the doubt

we're planning on releasing on F-Droid!

Good to hear

External bunker support is most needed for me 🫵💪🥳

#Amber

I still don't see Damus in the nostr:nprofile1qqs83nn04fezvsu89p8xg7axjwye2u67errat3dx2um725fs7qnrqlgpzdmhxue69uhhqatjwpkx2urpvuhx2ue0e2p4dj. Are you still rolling it out?

its just an apk on our site atm, will do all the other store distributions soon

I seen that and was hoping for "soon in your nearby store" :-) But yeah I have to give it a try. Thanks for bringing it to Android.

You actually don't need to. Obtainium works just for (initial install and updates).

Just 'fine' (bloody auto correct)

my flag in my username doesn't show up. It shows are UM and my Bitcoin text logo shows up as a square.

I also can't see my followers or following list.

My live stream event doesn't show up.

Would be good if the images at the end of the note show up under the preview of the note like amethyst.

We need a way to add easily add our lighting address like amethyst

No Amber login

other than that

Amber support is the most important thing.

Other than Amber? There is no 'other', the rest is just fluff and BS.

* not sure where to get notified about updates (no apk on github, fdroud zapstore etc.)

* scrolling/gestures feel too unresponsive for single hand usages, I often have to do gestures like swiping twice. should be more sensitive imo.

* no video playback

i like that there are no likes, plain reposts and follower counts. makes the experience more thoughtful.

these are high priority!

Use Obtainium. Once you add the URL, it Ob' regularly pings and updates where necessary.

Does it work with the damus website? Last time I checked the apk was not yet released on github.

wallet settings. Where could I get the NWC URI of walletofsatoshi?

WoS doesn't support NWC, but that reminds me we should have external wallet zapping

I'm missing amber login

iOS or Android

android

😿

one main reason?

💯💯💯💯💯

Shackles or Freedom

double tapping the home button should scroll to the top of the page

scroll speed but we already talked about that

planned!

yup we're fixing this, high prio

it would also be nice to expand pfp's when tapping on them on someone's profile, allowing zoom. potentially same with banners (only once on the profile though)

cannot find users neither with nyms/names, nor with npubs. extraction of nsec's.

this is high priority, we're fixing

The buttons in the left sidebar aren't all the same size. If I search for someone, do I have to put an "@" before them?

profile search coming very soon

Now perhaps a bunch of these are preference/design choices, but whatever, especially the combination makes it suck imo:

- looking at a reply via notification or reply tab does not show what is being replied to;

- selecting a reply makes you go to the top of a thread making you scroll down to go to the actual reply, instead of showing you the reply directly;

- it only loads specific subthreads, not the entire thing with all the replies etc.

- this forces you to select a comment to see its replies;

- that again brings you to the top of the thread first, not the reply, you have to scroll down;

- it does not tell you if a post has any replies, let alone how many.

- scroll speed

This turns everything into a giant guessing game. Does it have replies? Lets find out, lets scroll down at a snails pase; ok cool this thing has comments. Does it have any other subthreads? Well who the fuck knows, only way to find that out is to brute force your way through i guess, reloading the thread over and over and over and over again turning it more into a blind maze you have to rewalk everytime than anything else really.

- it does not load data by itself, for instance if someone is referenced it will just throw out a ???, and only after selecting the ??? and it loading the profile will it know who/what it was and remember it.

Thats on top of my head.

Also, posts sometimes dont fit the screen and will just cut of the part on the right (even with the side tab tucked in), and will only fit the screen after selecting the post specifically.

Oh! Forgot. Android has three buttons; ||| , □ and < . This back button ( < ) universally among every app out there lets you exit the app back to your homescreen once you reached the top of the apphierachy. In damus, it just does nothing. First time i have encountered that in any app. Technically i can still use the dedicated □ button, but i am not going to learn new controlls because one app decides to be an outlier.

oh, and it appears to notify me of the reply i made to my own post. thanks damus, i was concious while doing that, dont need a reminder.

YES DAMUS I KNOW I JUST WROTE THAT, NO NEED TO NOTIFY ME!

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!!!

attention span is short these days

These buttons don't exist in Graphene, at least not by default

Recent versions of android have a little bar at the bottom edge and back is swipe from left and top down is system menu swipe up bottom up is activities.

Idk about newer versions but you can renewable triangle circle square. Triangle is back, points down to hide keyboard, circle is to go to the launcher and square is the activities menu.

I prefer the buttons.

The buttons still exist as an accessibility feature but ended up being maintained less and less. Some apps may not gracefully handle them these days.

back button should work, weird

It does inside the app, but it wont let me exit the app via the back button.

> - it only loads specific subthreads, not the entire thing with all the replies etc.

we actually had it like this, but nostr:npub1fgz3pungsr2quse0fpjuk4c5m8fuyqx2d6a3ddqc4ek92h6hf9ns0mjeck preferred it this way. I dunno, I think we might go back to the old way eventually because I agree with you

but yes everything else on this list I think we have an issue for and will be fixing

Its a preference thing i suppose. I don't rely on feeds at all, i only follow a hand full of active people and just use their posts and replies as a jumping off point to browse nostr, going from thread to profile to thread etc. So i depend on seeing everything. I recon if you just mainly are interested in OPs by a sophisticated selection of people of interest to you, or are some super influencer rockstar that just manages his parasocial relationships (or ignores them rather), things might be different.

Ideally it is a setting/option with whatever opinionated default, but i don't know how much of a burden it is to maintain that.

Amber support

Linux mobile version?

notedeck should work and its packaged for arch

Thanks, I'll check it out. I'm running poskmarketOS - alpine Linux based.

Awesome build, here some thoughts:

- static scrolling isn't enjoyable, feels weird

- emojis don't appear for some reason

- looks like I can't shaka (like)

- on tablet I don't like that it goes automatically to deck mode once in landscape

It's blazing fast, but the scrolling seems to be a bit jittery. Hardly noticeable, but once seen, it can't be unseen

Reproducible builds would also be nice

Since there’s no option to log in with Amber, I won’t even touch it lol

option for displaying web link snippets when available

Just FYI on android

Weird, what android version and phone do you have ?

Google pixel 9a with

Android 16 QPR Beta Program

Looks corrected in latest beta

#1 Can't login with Amber.

I’d like to use my own blossom server.

i want this too soon

Get rid of the sidebar on android or at least make it collapsible

Not as fast as amethyst, I'm on Android. The scrolling is less efficient and seems to lag.

we did some zap tests on this note… we made one attempts to⚡zap this note, at sepiropht@elimbi.com, over a period of about 60 seconds. in each case, we found that your lightning address server did not respond correctly. (the failure point was when we did a get request to your specified callback url: https://elimbi.com/api/lnurl-callback ). your server did not produce an invoice, thus the zap failed. the error we got was "Network error or failed to fetch". if you wanted to fix this... you could try getting a free rizful lightning address -- https://rizful.com ... if u get it set up, pls reply here so we can do this ⚡zap test again.

what device?

This would be my contribution using #damus Android for a few days

- in horizontal format the columns sometimes overlap and the posts are illegible

- when answering post the text box is occasionally hidden before finishing writing

- scrolling feels unstable

- certain videos are not played

- certain emojis look distorted and dark and others recognize them

- Dave responds well but when he summarizes the post, scrolling is inhibited

For being a beta it’s very good 👍🏼 for now it’s not comparable to Damus iOS.

The UX design is great and it would be good to see it on iOS Damus soon.

I think it’s a good idea to use a pet 👏🏼
