Reddit is complete and utter trash

😬

It shouldn't be a thing.

Normal people actually use starlink??

The only people I know with it all drive RV's

I guess you don’t live in a rural location.

No. I assume you're saying it's common in rural areas?

I could not even access email with the ‘local provider’ before Starlink. It’s been a life saver for anyone outside the main fibre lines.

I was an early user and the service was spotty, but two years later, it’s as good as any internet I ever had in the city.

Glad to hear it. I honestly thought it was only for millionaires or something

It’s sold by a Billionaire - but it’s for everyone!

Couple years ago had internet service cut off for dl'ing some torrents. And have gotten a few letters warning of it over the years as well. If ISPs get the copyright strike letter, they generally act on it.

Wen Bitcoin Satellite Internet?

Blockstream has it already

No, they don't. They rent.

I know Blockstream Satellite is providing broadcasting services for BTC block data, I meant Internet services.

You want bitcoin to be an internet service provider?

🤣 no

He could easily reset his password and avoid his brothers future poaching all together.

"If you comply, everything is gonna be fine."

Happens with all the canadian ISPs too. You will get threats from them when you start torrenting stuff.

Even Debian ISOs?

Usually just copyrighted stuff. Big studios hire companies to send dmcas to ISPs to harass users. I just run my torrent node in a cgroup that forwards all its traffic over vpn so it’s not a problem

Ya bc your a digital ninja

Usually people just call me a fucking nerd but I’ll take it

the question is when the ISPs will try to ban VPN services

they can't, people use them for work

can imagine many strategies here, e.g. whitelists or fines for the use of VPNs. But of course there will always be ways e.g. situation in China

Yeah, the infrastructure itself is centralized, can't go against the owners forever.

We are peasants, in terms of infrastructure.

Links borked for me

lameeee charter doesn’t even do that

AUP from the provider I use says immediate suspension & account holder is liable for all users' activities.

Reddit blocked my vpn 😡

I use red reader on my phone to bypass that

put.io is also a thing

Great rec. And they accept lightning

Scary

Are there actually people not using VPN's still left on Earth?

Woweee

That’s Tim Berners-Lee invention in the wrong hands.

"They" are always watching...

LoRaWAN

Mesh

Nextcloud?

Nostr

#Freedomtech

And this is why I can't wait until mesh network internet becomes the dominant way to access the internet. Everyone should be an ISP for themselves and others.

Strikeslink!

Does it block VPNs/Tor?

Recently was in Guate at lake Atitlan staying for a few weeks at several apartment units of this Airbnb vertical terrace layered compound with our group. The Internet was terrible, so they installed us Starlink at the highest point.

That's been my only interaction with Starlink. I'm just thinking it'd be kind of hard to manage this "issue" if a place has tons of different people coming and going using the internet.

Would using private trackers prevent this entirely on starlink internet?

One weird story i've heard of starlink. Last summer I went hiking with a family (mutual friend). They told me one day these strange ships were hovering over their home (right above it). A whole chain of them. It freaked them out. Later on they were informed they were starlink satellites. Apparently they descend low from time to time

Can't escape the corporations.

Create a starlink for us plebs boss, so we can get out of local ISP crap.

It would be interesting to see what % of nostriches got that torrenting notice at some point 😀

Luckily you can pay mullvad with lightning âš¡
