Question for the natural remedey people here on Nostr.

Besides the obvious solution of red meat and organ meats, are there any other iron supplements that one's wife might look into if her iron levels weren't where they needed to be?

I know now iron can be an issue but she's trying to avoid taking an insane amount of pills in a day.

Lentils

Spinach & mushrooms 😊

As I recall, beans are high in folate which is necessary to absorb iron. So chili with meat and beans is super nutritious.

After your suggestion, I told her we should eat more chili.

I'm making chili later today. Ground beef, ground bison, bacon, spicy sausage, and four kinds of beans.

I do very much hope you enjoy it!

Body needs good level of Vitamin C to help with absorbing.

Calcium can inhibit so space that out, also eggs, and tea.

Can use liquid iron supplements instead of pills.

Alternative day dosing is also a thing.

On related note, magnesium can take the edge off tiredness, which helps with energy and wellbeing during the day leading to better sleep at night, and sleep makes everything better.

I've been taking magnesium and it seems to help me a lot as well.

Also, between it and zinc, seems to help with tooth sensitivity. Not sure if that's repeatable but that's what i find.

Absolutely!

Organ meat supplements would be most complete form without having to increase food consumption, 3/6 pills a day tho depending on needs πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈβœŒοΈπŸ«Ά

Cooking on cast iron can help although i wouldnt consider it an alternative reliable source of iron

We do that already! 😊

Believe it or not, the amount of absorbable iron in a pint of Guinness is astronomical. But drinking a Guinness everyday isn’t really an option. πŸ€“

It’s hard to find a more absorbable form of iron than the heme iron in red meat. But if not red meat, then eggs also contain heme iron. But the non-heme iron in lentils and collards can add flavor variety.

Excellent suggestion!

just eat the beef... it's also full of other good things, even has vitamin C in it in a highly available form, and the beef, in particular, has high levels of stearic acid, one of the most health-giving fatty acids there is (also found in cacao butter)
