thoughts on acupuncture? never tried it.
Discussion
My opinion, and not a medical advice. I consider it to be risky. If done not right, could damage your nervous system! 🐶🐾🫡
More risky than the allopathic quackery and poison-pill peddling of the medical industrial complex? Asking for a friend...
🤷♂️🐶🐾
‘Let’s check your triglycerides’
‘Whoops! Whoa. You need a statin Mr. Smith or you’ll certainly drop dead’
‘And your sugars’
‘OH MY GOD..this is off the charts..I’m putting you on insulin injection’
‘Not sleeping you say? Horrible for your health..here’s a sleep aid medication, new, very effective’
‘Okay schedule a follow with reception Mr. Smith, very important I see you in three weeks’
😂🤣 using a statin for triglycerides
They could both be wrong. Just sayin'.
Can be great! Depends what you need. Bodywork/massage is usually more effective for alleviating physical discomfort in my experience
You will love it
Electroaccupuncture is incredible for releasing tight muscles. Have it done quarterly in hips and glutes.
I've been doing acupuncture regularly for over 6 years now. Absolutely love it, it's so meditative for me and I feel more centred. And I love the cupping part too
I go every Monday. Find the right practitioner and it’s the best 🙌
It works. There was once I sprained my ankle, it was swelling, I then quickly get treated with acupuncture, the bump literally punctured.
A few cases where my friends and family attacked by stroke, with immediate 30 days of continuous acupuncture treatment, they are about the same as they were before the stroke.
I don’t think I understand it. When my friend asked me if I'd ever tried acupuncture, I told him it was pointless.
not much to lose by trying it(: but might take a couple sessions to feel the effects
It is known to be good for pain relief. Lack of evidence for other medical role
Pseudoscientific quackery, as all things TCM are.
From a medical perspective:
Agree (although not sure what TCM is). Randomized controlled trials show acupuncture doesn’t work.
They also show that the placebo effect does work.
Also, dry needling does work, which is essentially the same needles as acupuncture, but deeper and into the muscles.
This makes me thing that successful acupuncture results are really a combination of placebo effect and muscle stimulation.
FWIW, I have tried both acupuncture and dry needling and dry needling is vastly superior.
Traditional Chinese Medicine. Look up David Gorski.
I think it's conman medicine. I personally know a private practice "Doctor" that does chiropractic, acupuncture and blood work tests. He's a total conman. He's even a martial arts guru 🙄.
Acupuncture is as real as chi
The dumbest thing I've ever done.
It's stupid, but somehow it works and it has the intended effects...
I did it once and didn't really feel much different. Open to it again. Could be a placebo.
It is real medical procedure. But depends on where you get it, it may be a scam.
To be sure, do it at hospital, not private clinic.
Depends on what you are trying to treat. I tried it for headaches and it didn’t work for me
It's nonsense. Just take psychedelics.
Almost like this... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
why?
The placebo effect is real. There are cheaper, less time consuming ways to activate it if that’s what you’re looking for
Fantastic if you get a good acupuncturist to do it, doesn’t hurt at all and it’s such a wonderful feeling at the end!
It's a pain in the ass
It works with a good lifestyle, sport and a plant based diet.
It is excellent. If you find a great person. 👍 Hope ya feels better.
Well we used it for ophthalmic surgery once but didn’t seem to be sufficient. Maybe asking too much
My advice would be to find a good physio who incorporates it into their practice. Make sure you go for a bite to eat afterwards, as you will most likely feel too spun out to do anything like drive a car. All the best!
it's a placebo. so ok if you make yourself believe it helps.
if you want to know the reality behind these pseudo-science scams I strongly recommend this book: Trick or Treatment by Ernst and Singh
Depending on for what. Works well for some issues. I’m writing from a physiotherapist point of view. 🌸
It’s my natural go to for pain.
I don’t take drugs. Cured my chronic tendinitis. Maybe placebo but if you’re in tune with your body and subtle energies, the best part is moving your fingers when the needles are in and feeling the currents pulse through your body, it’s so wild! Also important to have a good practitioner. The good ones will stick the needles in without you feeling a thing.
had it in taiwan. it's amazing
I am going to either try it myself of see if my daughter wants to for an alternative to other things. We shall see. But it's on my mind, like yours.
It’s amazing. I was a sceptic, but it pretty much cured a back injury from the gym when nothing else worked.
Is only anestesy. Acupuncture treat the effect (pain) not the cause
It’s a bandaid, nothing more. Significantly less dangerous than chiro tho
Never tried it but when donating blood, they don’t like it. I suppose it’s OK as long as you trust the person carrying it out to be clean.
Worked for quitting smoking for me. Probably a placebo effect to me but the physical suffering was much milder than when tried without
I recommend it for recovering from injuries.
